The name fork comes from English, which means "fork", because the forks have the only cable and the tip that stick the food. The fork symbolizes a coin that comes as unique and at some point bifurcates, bringing the new coins at the end.
Virtually when a specific project needs to be changed or updated, it is necessary to create a new project, but the initial one is not canceled, the two projects coexist, only the project is retaining the name and its capital.

Fork is branch from the main crypto currency, with a change in the rules of work. There are 2 types of forks in total:
1. Hard fork is a "hard" change in the rules of the game in the blockchain of the crypto currency, in which the newly introduced rules are completely opposite to the old rules.
2. Soft fork is a softer form of changes to the rules of the game, in which the nodes of the old version of the blockchain can fully interact with the nodes of the new version.
The Dogecoin project is the fork of Litecoin; the Expanse project is the fork of Ethereum, the Stellar project is the fork of Ripple.
