HYIP is something advertised that you'll earn A LOT without effort, just you have to send money there (invest).

The first "wave" of investors are - in some cases - paid. They are usually the friends and the high advertisers of the "business owner".
At some point - pretty early - the "business" "collapses", actually the "businessman" runs with the money.

Later on, he may start another such good business, with another name, another website, another look and a new slogan.

It's a SCAM that never dies. Because people's greed is bigger than their brain Sad

All HYIP's are ponzi schemes.

Pyramid system, network marketing; those are the other names of HYIP.  They may got small differences but in the end they all end up same:

I think HYIP is a disease ...  Smiley

until it ( not going to try and not lose money ) you will not receive immunity from this ...
my advice - try it once, lose a little money but will forever cure

Lycanthrope, thank you for your advice

However, I have quite a lot to read here and accept my decision is final -
I'll just play in the casino and any HYIP don't enter me into temptation

I prefer to learn from the mistakes of others and already have my immunity  Wink

I highly recommend you read through our business model.

Come on, 425% after 60 days!? Grin

Quote
Unlike our competitors who offer extraordinary and impossible returns, we offer smaller time framed, daily payout plans that enable investors to have trust in where there money is going, and how it is being increased. We do not lie to our investors nor promise impossible returns that eventually turn the site to bankruptcy...We offer sustainable, transparent and realistic plans that our investors can rely on, every time.

You mean, your competitors offer returns even more impossible than what you're offering here? That, I find hard to believe. Cheesy

Anyway, who wants to bet how long this lasts? I'd say, less than 2 months by the look of it.

I feel kind of sorry for everyone who posted in this thread. Go to moneymakergroup.com, and you'll see HYIP's are very profitable businesses for both the investors and the owners. Instead of being hard heads as calling them scams, why don't you all do research on the legitimate ones?

As others here mentioned, they are very profitable for those who start them, and those who are lucky enough to be very early investors - and quite unprofitable to everyone else. Remember, your profit has to come from somewhere, and in most, if not all cases, that is not from a legit business model, but rather taken directly from later investors; which would be less of a problem if they were at least honest about this.

Now, from what (admittedly little) I know from the moneymakergroup forum, people there try to invest in several HYIPs to mitigate losses, and then reinvest any profits on other HYIPs; so if a few go down, the profit from the others should still make up for it, and you can continue - maybe profitable for those who can do so, but the money still has to come from somewhere else, if it's not coming from the supposed business itself.

The word / acronym "HYIP" is itself marketing language for the tried and true ponzi scheme.

I don't think you can show me one "High yield interest program" that has not been a scam, and if there is one to cite it would be a severe outlier.

calling it an HYIP is of course much better than saying "Hi, I'm running a scam where new investors pay out old investors, and I just shovel bullshit down your throat until you think I really have some magic underlying business that prints money and I'm stupid enough to share the revenue stream with you, the random asshole on the internet"

The way to debunk them is simple:

-- Ask the HYIP scammer what his underlying business to generate all these funds are
-- he will say arbitrage, currency trading, options trading, something trading or quickly in and out of things.
-- you ask "why do you need my money if you have a money-making machine?"
-- insert very weak response from him that likely won't sit well with you.

But, there is another component: there exists players who know very well these are all scams, but try to game them and get in and out before they collapse

-- this leads to more liquidity for the scams
-- this leads to provable payout transactions and happy users reporting profits
-- and eventually saturation happens, i.e. there are too many current investors owed profits and not enough new investors to cover, then the "HYIP" claims they have been hacked / scammed / or lost a risky play / or just disappears

Wash, rinse, repeat under many different laughable pretenses, with many different currencies, and the fact that this bullshit is still allowed to be called "gambling" reflect that the mods of this important forum don't care much for categorizing properly (I believe there should be an HYIP section, in no way connected to gambling.  Hey, freedom is allowing speech I don't personally like) and IMO the guys that run this forum care only about dat ad revenue stream, now in the 1000's of coins.

It does not matter how do you call it at the end you loose.

Most important is put a question itself before investing. Does it sound nice, big profit... easy money?

If answer is yes then stay away.

The only difference between ponzi, scam or HYIP is a way how it's introducing and try to get you and your money.

my other opinions : just avoid HYIP no matter what they offer

if I understood correctly - all opinions converge, do not try any investment in any HYIP ,
it is always a waste of money, we should not even try to get a big piece of

HYIPs are investment programs in which you can earn stratospheric percentages joining them.

HYIPs are often presented in an attractive way, in which the handlers tell people that they invest in forex markets, commodities, ect. and they simply know some secret formula which let them earn those stratospheric percentages that they want to share with investors... Actually instead many HYIPs ( or maybe ALL of them  )  are simply Ponzi Schemes or Pyramidal Schemes in which only if you join the program first you have the possibility to earn money, altough neither in this case it's guaranteed since HYIPs handlers could escape with all the money, never sharing some with investors.

however, I wanted to hear personal opinions of people who know more than i

It's basically an investment program where investors are promised high returns but their profit depends on how much money the company makes and more often than not these companies end up losing the money of the investors and they run away and the other times they give out returns at first to increase their trust level and when they have collected enough, they don't invest and just steal the investor's fund and shut down their operations. Which is why it is advised to stay away from HYIP/Ponzi schemes, but people fall for these scams in their greed of earning high returns and end up losing their funds.

{Source : Google}

HYIP is High Yield Investment Program. People can invest money into high yield, high risk markets who couldn't normally do so on their own, due to lack of initial investment funds. A HYIP pools money from investors together and uses the funds to invest in these markets; investors receive a portion of the return on their investments over a pre-designated amount of time. Most HYIPs pay interest daily, weekly, or monthly over the Internet. While some HYIPs are valid investment tools, a majority are actually one form of a ponzi scheme.
