It is required to rank up starting at the Member level and you gain by posting insightful trustworthy posts.
Since other members already explain to you what is merit, i will say what isit for then.... when people give you merit for your substantial post after an x amount you get to the account next level in the forum.
ohh ,, merit is like the point we get from each of our post, so if our post felt useful / help many people, then others will give us some merit point to our account.
