If you want a safe wallet for BTC, i would recommend  you the light version of electrum which is you can use as much addresses as you want. But if you want a safest wallet , you must buy a hardware wallet such as ledger or trezor, but it's quietly expensive.

If you are not going to trade it, you should consider using Electrum wallet. It's reliable because it is cheap and open source. The only thing you will have to do is creating a wallet with a strong password. I would also advise you to make backups of it on a few pendrives. Why is it better than online wallet? Well, you are in control of your private keys so nobody will steal your money.

yes you are correct it also have the private key with us. this is very safe

Well... Most of the expert here already point out that it is depends how many BTC you want to hold.
There are hot and cold wallets which you can choose. If money is not the issue, then go for the cold one, like Trezor, etc. It is the most safest way to store your coins.
Otherwise, Electrum is a wonderful choice. But you have to make sure you backup often and store the private key in a safe place.
On the other hand, if you want to trade often, Bittrex is also a good place to start with.

Hope this will help you!

If you want make use of your btc for the trading then here my suggestion for you to out your btc at different different paltfroms like exchange , Wallet ( type of pc and mobile ) .
Here my recommendation form you to put your btc at the bitrex exchange and another amount of the bitcoin in the wallet , Because trading needed the perfect timing of the investment , if we will be Able to make investment at perfect condition ( without delay of the transaction of bitcoin due to confirmation ).
For the direct online store to your bitcoin , I would like to suggest you to use blockchain.info ( have Android app and also can be handle easily in the web version in pc and Chrome browser of mobile with latest version ) . And specially for the mobile Wallet you should try mycelium Wallet ( in this Wallet you will get everything to control over your bitcoin that a owner can , better and.much friendly ) .

Wallets to be really safe should not be online. Cold storages or hardware wallets are generally safer.
But if you need to trade frequently, there some online wallets which look quite reliable, for example blockchain.info. As a second choice you may put your funds on exchanges. But keep in mind that's not a recommended choice if you need safety. Yet there quite reliable exchanges like The Rock Trading or Bithumb.

A third option could be to use Waves. Just add this plug-in to chrome and you can start to use their amazing platform: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wavesliteapp/kfmcaklajknfekomaflnhkjjkcjabogm

If you can invest in a hardware wallet then go for it. Most desktop and app wallets are free but the risk of losing your bitcoin is high. If it the app crashes and you don't have a back up, then recovering your bitcoin is impossible even if the wallet has a support team.

You’d better use Blockchain wallet. It is the best choice for those ones, who just begin dealing with Bitcoins. This is a trusted wallet, and you can install it on your smartphone or use it through the web. Exodus is OK, but you can get only the desktop version.

As a beginner, I recommend Blockchain.info. They allow you to create both BTC and ETH wallet in one account. And you hold the private key to your wallet. Meaning, Unlike exchanges, you have more power and control over your investment. As you advance, you can invest in hardware which give you absolute control over your money.

It is true that online wallets can easily be compromised and there is a chance that they might run away with all your cryptos.
But, I've been using Coinbase and Xapo since last 3 years and I just love the features they have.

I am not really sure because I am only familiar with one wallet which is Coins.ph. This is the mostly used wallet for Bitcoin in the Philippines and it is also used for other activities. It provides different services like paying the bills, transfering fund, cashing in or out in different ways and trading Bitcoin. I recommend this because it has been useful for me ever since I started Bitcoin. It also has it's own application and can be accessed anytime I want.

If you want to trade it frequently, you really need to use an exchange. However, be careful with exchanges because there is a history of exchanges getting hacked, going out of business, or stealing funds (i.e. Cryptsy, MtGox). I would suggest keeping most of your Bitcoins in an offline wallet. However, if you want to day trade with Bitcoin and altcoins, use one of the better exchanges like Bittrex. I used to use Poloniex, but they don’t respond to support tickets any more. I also like Bitfinex but they aren’t serving US customers anymore. So Bittrex is the best one that I have used that is still a good exchange as far as I know, but this is not an endorsement of them or any exchange.

I think you should choose for yourself the most reputable trading platform such as bittex polo or yobit .. or any floor that your country supports bitcoin and altcoin trading then you should always stay there because you often deal and I recommend that if you play a floor you have to keep your information confidential to avoid loss of account

Well, I believe that storing funds on online wallets or exchanges is risky even if you are taking all the safety precautions because sensitive database like private keys can be compromised at the server end so it is never recommended holding large amount online.

You can use securely generated paper wallet or hardware wallet to store your funds offline. Maintaining paper wallet is a cheaper yet secure but non-flexible option and maintaining hardware wallet is costly as compared to that of the paper wallet but it is flexible if we are comparing the same.

As posters above have suggested, either use offline wallet (it can be HD wallet like Electrum, but Bitcoin Core client also supports cold storage and watch-only wallets) or buy a decent hardware wallet (e.g. Trezor or Ledger Nano S), which will bring convenience and security which will be difficult to replicate on your own as a new user.

For me,the safest bitcoin wallet is litecoin because litecoin is a peer-to-peer Internet currency that enables instant, near-zero cost payments to anyone in the world. Litecoin is an open source, global payment network that is fully decentralized without any central authorities.

What?Huh Safest bitcoin wallet is litecoin?? Huh You cant send bitcoin to a litecoin wallet and vice versa due to them obviously being on separate blockchains. Also, did you just straight up copy pasted litecoin's definition from litecoin.info?

I think the safest wallets are hardware wallets such as Trezor, Keepkey, Ledger Nano S.

It's better to use an online wallet that allows you to use 2 factor authentication. I think 2FA is very good because you need two different forms of authentication such as something you have, something you know and something you are. In order to log you may need your password and your phone.

I also think Paper wallets can be quite safe.

Well everything depends  on the amount of your btc.
First of all I won't recommend you using the online wallet. Just get Electrum (or its mobile app) and keep it safe. Second is that the safety of your wallet mostly depends on how and where you use it.
If you are 100% sure that you need to keep your BTC online and you have a small amount of coins that you will have to exchange asap at one moment then you may take a risk, screw all the safety rules and hold it on your exchange. Sometimes it take e long time to deposit your funds and you may lose some good chance.

If you are sure that your computer is secure, use Electrum and keep regular, encrypted backups of your private keys. Online wallets, like Blockchain.info, are super convenient but you won't have your private keys in your possession in the event that they get shut down.

Dear members

I have get some btc today. I need to store it in online wallet, online wallet because i need trade it frequently. Specially get the alt coins.  Whats your recommendation about wallet and why?

Let me start with saying don't use a web wallet. And with web wallets I mean blockchain.info, coinbase and any similar services. They can be stolen much easier PLUS if that website goes down , your coins go with them.

You have a few much better options. You can download and use electrum which is a light version safe wallet. You can use there as much addresses as you want and you have access to each and every private key of it. This is my number one choice.

The second choice is getting a hardware wallet such as trezor or ledger. They are useful but are a bit expensive in my opinion but if you're trading a lot it's not bad at all.

And of course the safest but isn't an option for many as it takes a lot of data and space is Bitcoin Core. It's the only way through which you broadcast transactions on your own not using any other nodes.

Coinomi Wallet apps are the best. You can hold here a lot of Altcoins. I tried it and really did not have a problem. And one of the best in it is that you hold your private key, So no one can enter your wallet anybody else as long as they do not know your privatekey. So you should be careful of it and not tell anyone to make it worse. This is only possible on Android phones you can also download it on a pc using bluestack

If you are looking for a safe wallet for BTC, I wouldn't recommend an online wallet as it can be easily compromised if you don't know how to take care of it. I would advice you to buy some hardware wallet. I use it on a daily basis in trading altcoins too and the process of using it is smooth. This also has more security features compared to an online wallet and you hold your private key here. I cited this opinion of mine as I based my comment on the title that you provided above.  Wink

I would recommend you to download electrum at:
https://electrum.org/#home

It is an open source wallet with cool features, such up setting the transaction fee based on the current network status, or choosing what node you would like to be connected to.

If you are talking about mobile wallet, I would recommend mycelium, who is also open source and has the exact same features.
Remember, as long as you control the private keys, the bitcoins are yours.
