I think it's because most of the altcoins smell fishy, but this one smells like bacon.

Mmmmm Everybody likes bacon!

(Paid for by the Bacon appreciation council.)

I also like it because it started way before the current "alt-coin inflation"

Can you mine BBQ with a CPU (I took my dual GPU rig back cause it was worthless).  Where do I get the miner program from?  What rig are you mining with and roughly what amount of coins are you finding per 24 hours?  Thanks in advance.

Since it was started as a joke, you can quite happily assume the owner didn't just make it in order to snag a few easy bucks. It's genuine, a bit like what Satoshi did.

I think this is probably the best explanation.

That's probably the best way to start a coin.  I read it's now as easy as changing 1 line of code to start your own coin.

If funny works then how about UglyCoin?  Or how about MormonCoin?  Lol.  That would draw some serious attention.

If any programmer is interested let me know cause I bought the domain name for both of those and others.

I've been mining BBQ coin this past week and I am loving the amount I am getting! I know it is not worth much right now but who knows! Popularity and interest is building so hopefully it will keep going and do very well. Jump on-board while the difficulty is still low!

I am toying with the idea of making a middleman type site for ALL tradable crypto coins. I think it would be nice if people could buy things with any coin they like! I could really do with some help getting it together. If anyone is interested in helping/joining with me then please send me a PM.

I think opening up the market a little would be great for all coins and all crypto junkies! Smiley

And it was one of the first fast scrypt coins. It has active development around it unlike many of the new copy-pastes. It has managed to stay alive all this time which is very interesting.

That's strange.

Just wondering because I want to make a video about it, but I don't know what to say besides "It started as a joke".

I don't think bbq started as a joke, jke coin (sic?) started as joke and actually gained traction.

bbq started normal but I think it was killed by 51% attacks and almost died and went into obscurity but then came back to life.  But that's from memory so maybe someone can back that up or correct me.  TIA

Nope, if you read the BBQ original announcement thread, the creator says it was a joke.
It DID go through a 51% attack though.

I think there are restaurants now accepting it as payments.

I was going to add something about how it always brings up food discussion, so I see it having a future in the restaurant industry.

I think it's quite special due to the idea that it was started as a joke. (Durp)

BQC was/is a faster block time coin when there weren't so many fast scrypt coins coming out.

I would like to know what sets BBQ coin apart. I know it started as a joke, and now it is a fairly popular coin. What makes people want to mine it? Block rate? ASIC restriction? What is it?

It was one of those coins, that people mined on the side, with their CPU's, without really giving it much thought. Then, 1 day, it made people a whole lot of $$, when it hit an exchange. People still mine it, probably, because somehow, it is almost as profitable as LTC. Not sure if there is anything special, just another LTC clone, far as I know.
