I don't know why you would need alternative to MEW. Do you need an eth wallet with specific functions. Is it for security?
But anyways, the closest and maybe even better alternative to MEW is metamask plugin for chrome browser, mozilla and brave browser. It's really popular and secure too. You can store ton of tokens there and there are no speed issues also. And most importantly, they have a built in feature which alerts you if you send your tokens/ETH to a scam ETH address. I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but you can try MetaMask https://metamask.io/. It is a chrome plugin but it works like MEW, and it does not require you to download the whole blockchain just like MEW.
