Depends realy on what coin you mine and what Hardware you and the most importanst is if you have to pay electrical costs or not !If you dont have to pay this its profitable because the most times are the electrical costs that get you less profit.

Mining is still hell of a profitable. Otherwise there wouldn't be so much new people, farms and gear popping up each year more and more.
You just have to be up to date or figure out how to get cheaper, green (clean) or free electricity.
Mining Litecoin might not be profitable that much. But mining Bitcoin is. As is mining some other Alt coins.
Home mining might not be the thing anymore, but hobby mining and professional mining still is and it will always be.
