The are almost the same thing or rather have same motive, that is, both are a means to generating funds to Kickstart a project or enable a created project to continue developing. But as things turn out, the means of collecting the funds varies which opened way for fraudulent activities mostly in the ICO type. In the ICO type the team collects the funds and hence can either continue with development or run away, in most cases, most projects run away. In the IEO type, the exchange collects the funds and list the token through which investors can decide their fate. That is to say, IEO tends to be more secure than ICO.

From my point of view, the most important component is prospects and growth plans. In few words, Threefold network is the biggest decentralized grid of self-managing Internet capacity in the world that is being built collectively by an inclusive ecosystem and owned by everyone. The mission is to expand the current Internet to all areas of the world and to allow everyone to use this Internet at a fraction of its current price

ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering while IEO stands for Initial Exchange Offering, mare looking at it one can deduce the difference from the name. In ICO, it takes place under the care of the team wherein they oversee the funds and it is through this way that most projects easily exit scam. In the case of IEO, it is done on exchanges where the exchange helps to curb out fraudulent activities and in this case once IEO is done listing takes place thus investors who wish to move on will do so while those who wish to stick to the platform will withdraw their tokens to their wallets. Therefore the major difference is, in IEO listing is assured while in ICO it is on probability and might take longer than usual or never will.

If we look at how it works then the ICO and IEO are not much different because their goal is the same as collecting coins and we can invest and see their mission a little different but still both are not so big impact on the user Crypto because there are still many scamer that continue to haunt the users, if they can give the best offer and promise then both of them will be much different later.
The biggest difference between IEO and ICO is to list exchanges after completing the hardcap. For IEO projects, they will definitely be listed at the IEO implementation exchanges, but for ICOs, we can not know in advance where the project will be listed anywhere.

To the best of my understanding, the difference between ICO and IEO is simply in the modality of raising funds. ICO gives the project owners the opportunity to raise funds themselves while IEO gives a cryptocurrency exchange the privilege to raise funds on behalf of the project owner. They both have their strength and weakness, but I guess there's a preference for IEO in the cryptocurrency space, due to the inherent risk of scam projects.
IEO is a form of investment which has become very popular in recent months and it is likely that this trend will last for a very long time because investors are very interested in participating. I think at the moment exchanges like Binance, Okex are the focus of many good IEO projects and if you are lucky enough to have a ticket to join, you will make a huge profit. However, you need to be more careful when participating in exchanges with poor liquidity because you will risk choosing to invest in those projects.

There is only one diffrence, the form of token sale. ICO means that company is managing the token sale by themselves, while IEO token sale is managed by third party - the exchange company. But it doesn´t guarantee you higher quality or better use.  Wink
this guarantees the possibility of selling the token on the exchange after the sale is successful. But if exchanges are not large, then they can delay the listing of tokens for several months. I have already seen such situations a few times. if this happens then it is best not to work with such exchanges

The only difference was on the exchange site but you are right about that if that was launched through small exchange site's IEO and we can't expect a lot from there. I never try to take small exchange site as a guarantee to the ICO who has been running on the IEO launchpad.
Selling the tokens depends on the liquidity too and it can't be done instantly if there was no a huge liquidity.

Both are basically the same thing just that they have different platforms on which they take place. ICO takes place under the care of the team where they can decide the fate of everything and everyone, that is, to use the fund for the actual purpose or to exit scam with it. IEO on the under hand take place under the care of the exchange, in this way, the team have no other option than to play along with the exchange, thus lesser chance of exit scam. The only reason why IEO is better is that, there is no excuse of delayed listing, once IEO is done, listing and hence trading takes place.

Everyone knows the fact that IEO will be basically listed easily versus ICO trying hard to get their coins listed but I also feel like
there is a decentralized issue at play here as well. When you do ICO there is an "owner" of that coin which is horrible, nobody wants to have some coin that basically has one guy at the top doing all the thinking and making all the decisions, that is basically fiat, look at all the ICO's and you will realize that there is at least one team if not one guy who gets all the funding and makes all the decisions.

IEO is kinda like that as well in logic but they are giving away as much of the money as possible to get funding yet let the coin be what it can be because they basically sell all their coins on the exchange and leave the coin be to community.

in short ieo is less riskier because you will know if what ieos are good and bad if you will only based on the exchange listed by them ~~
With so many pump-dump on exchanges after fundraising, I think both IEO and ICO are the same, both are high risky. The success of investors is not only measured by the success in fundraising or in listing on top exchanges. But when the token values can be growing constantly on exchanges. At least, the volume is rising properly, it indicates a good interest from people. Unfortunately, after fundraising, most token values are gradually losing their values on the market currently.

There's no difference realistically. What's between then is ICOs are not carried out on exchange but rather oc project ico portals. IEOs are done on exchange but the ends of the two is fund raising for projects.
The real difference is only the name, and other thing is the IEO use exchange for crowdfunding while ICO only use thier website to accumulate funds from investors.
But in the end the result will be the same IEO right now is look the same path as ICO before and now.

the only difference is the middle letter. ICOs are scamming people by calling themselves initial "coin" offering and IEOs are scamming people by doing the same exact thing while calling themselves initial "exchange" offering.
the end result is exactly the same with different speeds at which they dump and exit. as IEOs are already supported by and listed on an exchange they can dump and run away faster.
Definitely there is little bit difference, If you agree or not. ICO is the uncertainty for the investors because they don’t know how long time to wait for the exchange. They may have a long wait to be frustrated. I don’t know which ICO is successful in last few months. All of the IEO's are big successful not likes that, a lot of fraudulent ico project will launch with shitty exchanges because exchange fee is cheap.

so in short ieo is less riskier because you will know if what ieos are good and bad if you will only based on the exchange listed by them but ico is purelly unpredictable but like they always said  ,  high risk always leads to high rewards   , there is a big potential on ico's compare to ieo's  . take a look on the past , many ico's became succesful and give a good profit but look at ieos now  , i havent seen lots ieos pump too much  . if there are legit ieo's  ,the gain are only minimal  .

IEO are purely just a remodelled ICO's, but somehow IEO's are way more better if conducted on good exchanges however you might still lose your money If you had invested in a wrong company.
Which is why we need to rely on IEO from these very quality exchanges if we really want to get the right company because those top exchanges have done all the work to ensure that they work with companies that also have reputation just like them, because those exchanges like binance really value their reputation, and they would do everything possible too to make sure that any company they are allowing on their exchange is such that will not bring shame or tarnish their own image.

I think it will be worth if we look into these top exchanges IEO, but we still have to make sure also that we do a very firm research on those projects too, because scammer can be very deceptive and no one is really above mistake, the exchange could make a big mistake in falling into one too.

We all know that ICO is an acronym that means Initial Coin Offering, which is how funds are raised for a new cryptocurrency offering. It is a fundraising mechanism in which new projects sell their underlying crypto tokens in exchange for bitcoin and ether. It’s somewhat similar to an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in which investors purchase shares of a company. ICOs are a relatively new phenomenon but have quickly become a dominant topic of discussion within the blockchain community. Many view ICO projects as unregulated securities that allow founders to raise an unjustified amount of capital, while others argue it is an innovation in the traditional venture-funding model. While, IEO's An initial exchange offering (IEO) allows companies to sell tokens to investors to raise capital. This makes them similar to initial coin offerings (ICOs), but there are a few key differences. It is a new approach to crypto-banking that is catching the attention of ICO investors around the world. IEOs can provide many benefits compared to ICOs. They offer greater security for users, improved transparency, bring about a fairer system that can benefit newcomers, and give users a sense that it is a reliable banking system.
ICO has been a buzzword for quite a few years now. IEO is one of the newer words that puts a different spin on an old thing. ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering and is the crypto version of an IPO which is condiered an Intial Public Offering. An IPO is a crowdfunding used in order to raise capitol for a company that aims to be a public traded enterprise. So, an ICO is the same thing but with cryptocurrency. An IEO is an Initial Exchange offering.
The SEC which stands for The Securities & Exchange Commission has been cracking down on Initial Coin Offerings lately and so the IEO was born out of necessity. Bering that most big time exchanges are regulated with a KYC/AML (know your customer/Anti-money laundering) policy, it makes investors feel a little bit safer and at ease knowing that a company has taken the necessary regulatory procedures by using a somewhat regulated and well known exchange.

Both serves the same basic purpose which is to raise funds for the development of projects or the further development of projects but people tend to prefer IEOs because listing of the project tokens in the exchange is sure after the IEO has been concluded especially for the big exchanges and it also guarantees that there would be no exit scams immediately after the tokensale has been concluded which has happened a lot in ICOs.

I know of an ICO that completed their tokensale in early 2018 and up till this day, they are still yet to list in an exchange even after hitting their hardcap during the sales, this would have never happened were it to be an IEO.

The exchange platform backs up the project so if you have trust in that exchange, then the possibility that the investment will produce better profit is high. If ever the project turns out as a scam or the owners have ran away, it will sure stain on the reputation of the exchange. So, aside from choosing a good project, you first need to find a trustworthy exchange.
both aspects must be considered and analyzed carefully. because conceptually a good project will choose a good exchange for their community. that's if the developer is indeed planning big in the future with their platform. but that does not provide a strong guarantee, other scammer factors can make mistakes as you say. IEO is now more popular and more widely used. but this system has not succeeded in increasing investor confidence and growing crypto adoption in the market. there must be another way to grow positive sentiment towards the market.

The projects in the IEOs are already listed on that exchange, an issue that some ICOs before had a difficultly to address. But this does not guarantees the success of the project because even though the coin is listed on the exchange, the price may not increment the way it was projected. There is still a risk but at least even though the project didn't meet the expected output, you can minimize your losses because the coin will not sit in the corner forever.

But at least IEO can be guaranteed by the exchange. I'm sure if the exchange has a good reputation, they will not carelessly take on projects that want to register IEO on their exchanges. But they must first ensure that the project really has adequate quality and has good credibility, capability and transparency. If they get wrong in accepting the project, then their exchange reputation will also be destroyed. Therefore large exchanges usually charge expensive fees to hold an IEO on their exchanges, in that way they can also see the seriousness of the project in building a reputation with them.

There are pretty same, but the only advantage the initial exchange offering has over initial coin offering is that it's sales are done in an exchange, and with that, listing is very sure . Also, I think another reason why initial exchange offering is better is because big exchanges do carry out some research on the project before endorsing them to carry out the sales.

You already stated the differences, what is the purpose of asking and you didn't put any question after your own opinion so it means for me that you are differentiating the diffrent sales system, Btw, i will going to add other advantage of the current IEO's

IEO's Tokens/coins will be directly listed in the exchange where the ieo sale was held if it becomes successful. unlik ICO and IPO in the past that will take months or years it depends on the team when they want to list it.
-Higher chance of being success sale because of the exchange if the exchange is a well known like top 1-10 current exchanges.
any many more.

I think that the only difference is just the method alone, there isn't so much difference that we can say because it is still the same way to raise crowd funding money.

One is only assumed to give ore security than the other, like ico now, a lot of people have really lost major interest in having anything to do with this method because they feel that most of the projects that are there now apart from those one that were released on 2017 are typically projects that have unserious team and lack a real working product other than using hype and speculation to build the community that eventually do collapse along the line, but IEO being a system that is being handle by exchanges directly is believed to be more secured which we have to also be very careful too because of the other ones that we have from a less responsible companies.
IEO is form of company's responsibility towards it's investors. I think atleast the company gives a guarantee that their tokens can be traded at anytime. I agree with you, I think there isn't so much different about ICO and IEO. The most important thing is the reliability of the project itself, the rise or fall of the price of their tokens depends on them.

For me, one of the important differences between them is that IEOs are organize by the exchanges. This is because the project is supervised by the exchange which will organize the IEO. And this allows me to trust IEO's a little more. Another important difference for me is that the token is to be listed on the exchange soon after the IEO. In this way, I do not have to wait too long to trade with that token. These differences also allow me to choose IEO if I need to choose between the two. However, we should not forget that we need to do a detailed research before investing in both.

These methods of fundraising are quite similar, but also have their differences. IEO can be considered more reliable, because before conducting it, the project agrees with the exchange. And if it is a good exchange, then such a project can be trusted. But don't forget that this is not a 100 percent guarantee that the project will be successful. There are also a lot of scammers among those who conduct IEO.
The main difference should be in the validation that will always made by any exchange site before trying to determine which is the project that is worth to be listed on the its IEO platform. As far as i know that some large exchange site has its own validator and auditor team to make sure what they choose is the right project to avoid the scam project to use their service.
This is the main thing from IEO that is not available on ICO.

I agree, other than that one of the advantages of IEO over ICO is that the exchanger holds investor funds. With the proceeds from the sale held by the exchanger, the developer team is unlikely to run away and the exchanger always verifies the project is feasible or not listed because it is related to its reputation
that the benefit of participate in IEO,our fund save in exchanger and developers team has no chance to withdraw their fund before trading started.with this scheme it could minimize scamming case in market ,investor will get more safety and certainity when want to invest in IEO. Moreover if in reputable exchanges like binance,we will get more profit probability and more secure with our fund.
Yes indeed, the exchanger serves as the third party to prevent the developers from running.
It is more likely that the exchanger is also holding its reputation base on the IEO projects they accept.
It minimizes the risk from the investors and it is an advantage for everyone.

ICO vs IEO

- ICO is a fundraising program that will be held directly by the owners of tokens and coins.
- The ICO token and koinare directly managed by the startup that makes it.
- ICO is too risky scam

- While IEO is an event for fundraising that is controlled by trusted exchanges like Binance and others.
- IEO tokens are managed by a well-known exchange company where users or investors can purchase tokens with funds directly from their own exchange wallets.
- IEO is more trusted by investors.

IEO is more trusted in this market and the current trend is attracting a lot of big investors so IEO will certainly be the best choice to make a profit during this time. For me, ICO are now just scam projects and will never be able to make you feel satisfied because of the long waiting period and some projects almost disappear after reach hard cap.

During this time, all investments are risky but join IEO will reduce you to avoid unnecessary risks so should only join IEO at big exchanges like Huobi

They are actually both coin offerings, the other one offered to the open public from the project itself while the other one is offered through the exchanges. There are tinier differences such as ICO coins might not be listed at all while IEO coins are going to be listed immediately right after the offering, ICOs are offered in an absolutely free market where a scam is offered alongside a much lesser scam while IEOs are somehow screened by a third party which is the exchange, and so forth. But all these differences could really be insignificant.

You just put out the basic difference. ICOs are fund raising campaigns organised by the developers of the project itself, they have full control of the funds. IEOs are organised by the exchange and they have initial funds control. Asides this, the result which is "loss" is usually the case for investors when they allow complacency to kick in. Nothing different in that regards

The difference between IC'O And IEO's is C and E, which means that ICO's is Initial Coin Offerings and IEO's is Initial Exchange Offerings, which means that in IEO's is faster in and it has already trading on the exchanges, While ICO's investors are buying direct from the developer or the Team, which take more time before going to Exchange. Therefore IEO's is faster than ICO's.

both ICO and IEO are the same. There is no difference that is too striking. it's just the difference is only in different crowdfunding events and cooperation between exchanges.

I agree if the IEO project is carried out with well-known and large exchanges, like the example in Binance and others. But if collaboration with the new exchange or reputation is still not dominant, this could be cooperation between the IEO project and the Exchange to conduct a scam. So it makes no difference in my opinion with ICO. in my opinion this is not an innovation to eliminate scammed, but only modify it so that investors are interested and glance at it. So what determines the success or failure of an IEO project is from the Exchange factor, but not the products or services offered. Because the assumption of an average investor like that.

Yes IEOs are just using the exchange to attract people in their project because everyone think that when the coin is already on exchange the project already succeed.

They just upgrade their strategies to scam more people because they know ICO already lose the trust of investors.

There are some differences between ICO and IEO. They are different because of their features. ICO means initial coin offering and there is no third party involved for investment. On the other hand, IEO means initial exchange offering and coin offers through an exchanger. IEO is more trustable than ICO among the people.
IEO is really more trusted than ICO because since the starting of 2018 most upcoming ICO projects are scams, that is why there are a lot of projects which became unsuccessful and their coins don't have any good value. Unlike IEO projects there are only few scams projects because it is still new, that is why IEO projects is more profitable than ICO projects.

For me it is a form of token sale, nothing else. IEOs are now more popular because people believe that exchanges will protect them against scam and that they will not choose poor project, but they are wrong, it's all about money, you pay, you will be listed  Cry.

For me its the same wherein the real intention is to scam investors ! Because honestly when IOE start running i thought it was a unique platform and the real goal is to protect investor from some ponzi project..  But it was a mistake and just a trap . What i mean a strategy to convince ppl easily .and i was the one who fell on it because of being confident .wherein because also of some good feedback and etc. So for me they're are totally the same wherein not trustworthy and reliable.  Much better to stay away to reduce risky situation.

ICOs are usually without an escrow and are held on the website of the project, often manipulating data on the amount of funds that have been collected. too risky!
Whereas IEO, there is an escrow at the same time being held on the exchange market. more trustworthy than ICO.
Even though there are many differences, there are still drawbacks, there is no guarantee that the type of investment we choose ICO/IEO will be successful.
Escrow is what distinguishes these two types of sales. IEO uses an exchanger as escrow, whereas ICO does not involve escrow. both of them do have similarities and differences, and the difference that is also quite noticeable is that you don't have to wait a long time for the IEO list token on the relevant market. although there are many similarities, currently IEO dominates ICO compared to ICO because ICO is quite easy to be a scam.

The only difference is where to transfer the money. The rest is the same to raise funds from investors so that their projects can proceed according to plan.
Some say it just changes the way, but a scam can still occur. If the ICO, a scam can occur when funds achieved and developers run away. But at IEO, the funds have been collected and the developer sells his own coins and then runs off slowly by abandoned project, doubling the profits.

One of the fundamental differences between ico and ieo is that investors no longer need to send ether to the Smart Contract address that governs the token sales, but each IEO participant must create an account on the exchange and send ETH (or other types of crypto received) to the exchange account and when IEO starts, participants can buy tokens directly from the exchange / stock exchange and of course this is a bit of a sense of security for investors, so they are not trapped in a project scam, where ico revolves around project developers who collect investment contributions (or speculation) from community (or users) denominated Ether (or other cryptocurrency), and the developer removes tokens from the product so that developers can flee investors' money after ICO is finished without distributing their tokens.

Well the truth about initial coin offering and initial exchange offering is that they are both the same, after the so much scam of ICOs came IEO to remedy the situation. The edge IEO has over ICO is it's direct listing and some sort of assurance when done in a trusted exchange ,these trusted exchange carry out research on the projects before giving it's consent but on some small exchange it is even worst because the sales are most times not successful there. IEO on Binance,  KuCoin, Gate.io , Okex are good and successful.

Like other crowd funding source the only difference I can see is their style of raising fund. ICO is for owners of their own project launching their coins on their own website or platform. The integrity of this type is very low since they can be a scam project still unlike IEO which tapped the services of an exchange. Yes, they can by risky too but more legit and trusted compared to ICOs. But still hoping for a regulation to differentiate these two.

yes maybe you are right. but IEO is better for some projects. I see there is still hope for those who want to invest, as long as the project is in large exchanges like binance. indeed overall IEO and ICO are the same. but quality exchange will make the difference.

IEO is profitable for investors and many people are considering this investment at major exchanges. Most of the major IEO projects have been successful and have helped us to make a lot of great profits during this time. Currently, you can choose big exchanges like Binance, Gate, Kucoin to join IEO because the projects here are thoroughly tested and do not need too much time to wait.

In IEO, you can see everything is very transparent, you don't need much promotion because the exchange itself would do that! Therefore, investors don't need to wait for months for getting token and exchange, rather in IEO, investors get their bought token in the first week! Everything in IEO is better than ICO!

IEO bloomed when ICO died after the bull market due to scam and when investors lose faith on ICO because a lot of ICOs didn't even made it to get listed in exchange. Thru IEO the crowdfunding occurs in an exchange where it secures the project on getting listed right before the project starts.

ICO is an initial coin offering without involving any other parties to run.
On the other hand, IEO is a coin offering running on the cryptocurrency exchange platform.
This is the basic difference about ICO and IEO. Because there were many scam projects, peoples choose IEO because they trust the exchange.

A good name only affects a reputed exchange but for others, this does not mean anything. Look at Idax for example, someone reported it as a fraudulent exchange because it scammed the project that ran IEO on their platform and their users. Potential or not, the demand for the IEO has decreased. Demand is everything, without demand IEO or ICO are nothing.

This is absolute a good explanation, if we are to be sincere with ourselves. So many people actual thought that IEO is the saviour, meanwhile it isn't. The early investors of IEO are the ones that get the bulk, aside the project team. Particularly, for IEOs that grow after listing.
A time might come that IEO will end the same way ICO ended.
IEO can end if they lose investors, as long as they have investors, the IEO will still be there even though the method used only has a difference in security between IEO and ICO but the current advantage is held by IEO. hope they don't disappoint for the future because investors have suffered a lot from fraud

What is the difference between ICO's and IEO's
Do not look for the difference between these. Instead, pay attention to projects and their teams, why should type of sales be so important? Sales is the last step, so you should pass the previous steps. All this means one thing: No matter what the project is, the important thing is that how much you will earn after the sale is finished.

We can more trust in IEO because, it will be directly be listed in an exchange, in ICO, it took them months or year before it happens, some of them does not list their coins and run away with their money that  has been raised. In IEO we may see the exchange that they will be listed right away.
If it is true that many people believe in IEO, it will be easier for them to sell the coins through their own platforms, right? and I think scammers would dare to do this because their coin are clearly registered and can be exchanged. Until they reach the target they will run away.

it means that scammers will more easily deceive investors by slisting their garbage project into exchange, because IEO is more trusted than ICO.
But for large exchanges the likelihood will be very small, because scammers will not want to pay large fees only for listings in large markets. Scammers only do IEO on cheap exchanges and do not require conditions to bother them. But the most important thing is research first.

that only means bigger exchanges should be hosting bigger scams while small exchanges host smaller scams!
you have to realize that the exchange does not care at all whether an ICO is a scam or not. they only care about making the most amount of money. so they first charge a bigger fee for listing (a bigger bribe) then they also earn profit from trades that take place on their platform as everyone dumps (the trading fees).
so far in the past years that we have seen thousands of fundraisings in different names (ICO, IEO, STO,...) not even a single one of them have been legitimate. all of them are useless and got dumped after a while.

Actually there is no big difference between ICO's and IEO's since both are selling their token/coins. Only the process has a slight different but the end result is the same you will still be holding the coin/token that you bought. Lastly, most of ICO's and IEO's are scams. Only a few are legit and among those legit there are also failing projects. So this industry is very risky and the best way to choose a coin to buy is by looking at the existing coin in the coinmarketcap top 50.

I disagree with you on that. There's a major difference between ICO and IEO, otherwise, they would be considered the same. I understand that they've similarities. However, the key difference lies in the method in which the tokens issued for sale are distributed and how the sale is handled. In normal ICO, the people usually responsible for the token sale process is the team except they're working with a specialized firm/partner. While in IEOs, Exchanges play the role of getting everything about the token sale. Stuffs like simplified listing process, more transparency, etc.

IEOs are generally considered safer because the user is no longer (fully) responsible for making sure that the coin isn't a scam. The exchange that is hosting the token sale does it. Of course, everyone willing to invest in a new altcoin should 100% research it themselves and know as much as possible about it before they commit to it. However, scammers tend to be rather convincing at times, and some users do not know how to recognize a scam, so if they have a trusted exchange that says that the project is fine, that is good enough for them. Now, just because the exchange has given the green light to a project doesn't necessarily mean that it is good or that it will be successful. But, it is generally a better option than just running across a random token sale and participating. In the end, these token sale models have helped the industry evolve in a way, for better or worse. IEOs are also better for projects, as the exchange handles the advertising, and developers have more time to put into the development itself, instead of running around in the dark, hoping that they are doing enough to promote their token.

I am sure scamer will not be able to do a bit if IEO is on a large exchange, but scamer is always looking for a small exchange to get funds after it is left.

I don't think we should generalise this. Of course that the vast majority of ICOs and IEOs have been proved to be scams, but there were some projects that made a good job with the raised funds. Look at Ethereum, it wouldn't be here without the initial funding. Another case is Stratis: they have raised what.. $750k? And they have built premium blockchain products from the ground up. That's what I name a successful ICO. When a project usually has a crowdfunding target of tens of millions it is a red flag for me. Usually this kind of financing is done through private investment, not crowdfunding.

You defined both things (ICO & IEO) here clearly and with that let me say that the only big difference between the two is that while  in ICO the whole fundraising activities are usually done by the people behind the project, IEO is done under the supervision of the exchange contracted by the project, hence it is called as Initial Exchange Offering. An ICO then can later on transformed itself into an IEO when it is bringing the project to the exchange which accepted it. We are all assuming that the exchanges are doing the vetting or selection process credibly but this is not always the case and that is why many are looking at IEO as just the same dog with a different name. Can we say then is a lesser chance for an IEO project to do an exit scam? Maybe a little but nothing really substantial that we can say there is a guarantee for success. In other words, we must always be careful regardless if we are dealing with an ICO or an IEO.

Move this thread to service discussion. It's not really about bitcoin.

ICO's are initial coin offerings that don't really need an outside payment processor, they are great for crowdfunding but they've died down in recent years due to IEO's being so successful.

IEO's are a blend of an ICO working with an exchange, instead of the ICO holding and processing payments themselves, they instead use an exchange to process all their payments and make sure it's all good, minimalizing risk and then also leveraging the exchange for extra investor attention.
