The merit system today is on life support. The Office of Personnel Management has struggled for years to work effectively and credibly.

Agreed.. This forum was doing fine but then the management tried to take the matters into their own hands and tried to reduce the number of senior members as to get a bigger share of bounties. With less people becoming senior members, the already senior and other members had higher opportunity levels and this merit system was introduced.

This is hilarious since your account was flagged as a bounty cheater!

If merits don't work for you cheaters, then I support management on this 100%, no questions asked.

we all have our own ways of sending merit but mostly they are given in posts that truthful and worthy depend on our views of matter.

because there are good posts for me and i will give merit , but for others it does not deserve so yeah there is no perfect answer to your question .

I don't know about others, but I try as much as possible to give merits to those with faultless posts, or posts with little to no fault. The posts must be good/valuable.

According to what criteria do legendary and veteran members give merit to other members.

What criteria do they pay attention to in terms of merit sharing?
Its subjective and no one can draw a line of standards to give merits.

Basically a post which contains some worth to real will get it.

why ask this? because your recent thread did not even gain  1 ? this post?

Virus, microscopic infectious agents that can only infect living cells and thus replicate. Viruses; They can infect all kinds of living forms, from animals and plants to microorganisms, including bacteria and archaea.

Since Dmitri Ivanovsky described non-bacterial agents infecting tobacco plants in an article in 1892 and Martinus Beijerinck's discovery of tobacco mosaic virus in 1898, although more than 6,000 virus types have been described in detail, there are millions of types. Viruses are the most abundant type of biological entity found in almost every ecosystem on earth. The science that deals with viruses is called virology and is a subspecialty of microbiology.

Viruses can exist as virions and individual viral particles within the infected cell or during the infection process. A single virus particle that contains all the structures of a virus is called a virion or virion and consists of two or three parts: the viral genome, which can be just one of DNA or RNA, and large molecules that carry genetic material; a protein layer called capsid that surrounds and protects the genetic material and has other functions, a lipid envelope that surrounds the protein layer. Virus particles can be helical (helical), cubic or complex (complex) morphologies. Virions are too small to be seen with a light microscope. An average virion is one percent the size of an average bacterium.

The origin of viruses in the evolutionary history of life has not been explained. Some may have evolved from plasmids, which are bits of DNA that can move between cells, while others may have evolved from bacteria. In evolution, viruses are an important vehicle for horizontal gene transfer that increases genetic diversity. Viruses are considered alive by some because they carry genetic material, reproduce and undergo natural selection. However, viruses have been called "organisms on the edge of life" and "replicators" because they lack some key features (eg, cell structure) necessary to be considered living.

Viruses spread in many ways; In plants, viruses are usually transferred from plant to plant by aphids and insects feeding on plant sap, while in animals they are transmitted by bloodsucking insects, these disease-carrying organisms are called vectors. Influenza viruses spread through the respiratory tract. Norovirus and rotavirus are the most common causative agents of viral gastroenteritis and are transmitted through fecal-oral transmission and person-to-person contact, water and food. HIV is a serious agent transmitted through sexual contact and contact with infected blood. Cells that the virus can infect are called "host" cells, and the host type can be broad or narrow, determined by the "host specificity" of the virus.

Viral infections in animals often result in stimulation of the immune system and elimination of the virus causing the infection. Immune responses can also be induced by vaccination, conferring artificial immunity against certain viral agents. However, some viruses that cause AIDS and viral hepatitis evade the immune response and cause chronic infections. Antibiotics do not affect viruses, but some antiviral drugs have been developed that can affect viruses.

It wouldn't be bad to pass a little information in the covid period!

if does then be ready because you will be record as plagiarism and you will be  banned sooner.

What I would like to know is this:

If I give someone merit, will I lose one of my merits? I'm new to all this so I hope I did not ask a weird question  Smiley

If you give someone a merit of course you will lose one of Smerits allotted to you , example you have received 6 merits then you will have a 3 Smerit (Sendable Merit) if you send 1 then you will have 2 remaining .

but it doesnt matter if you lose them because over the time you will gain again depend on your post quality and how you response to other posts.

there is no specification , they will give to what they think deserving to be merited .

post quality and consistency of your posts...

not all high ranks get merit easily because the quality of posts is still lacking and also the member's posts are inconsistent. you can see how those who get a lot of merit make posts and imitate the quality of their posts.
