In an see different opinions and this make me think that, we are all different here. My purpose of investing in Altcoins is for diversification purpose and what it means is: more coins and tokens will give the maximal profit an investors want. This happened to me backed in 2017 and 2018 and I never regret be among the community who had their purpose of diversification on Altcoins.

The highest aim for me is to gain more bitcoins, and not fiat money. I believe in crypto and have no doubts that within several years from now on BTC can easily be worth 100k. Trade and collect altcoins to exchange them into Bitcoins guys. In my opinion, this is the best strategy.

Personally the main reason I invest in alts is to grow my BTC portfolio! And I think it’s virtually what everyone wants to do ! When you make more BTC then you can easily convert to fiat anytime you like !

I am sure we have different purposes of investing altcoin, but for me, it's because I can make much bitcoin if the altcoin that I invest can increase higher. That is proved in 2017 ago, I can sell many altcoins in my exchanges wallet at the very highest price, and I can collect more bitcoin from the altcoin. And I still want to make more bitcoin from investing the altcoin right now because now is a good time to buy more altcoin at the exchanges and I am sure that I can repeat the process to make much bitcoin and of course, I can sell my bitcoin to make a bigger profit in fiat.

There are good comments here, but for me and in my opinion investing in altcoin means opening doors to new possibilities and dynamics for our daily lives. A clear example is the daily practicality that some altcoins already bring, such as bank transactions, restaurants, and even places that accept altcoin to buy cars and other specific items. However, bitcoin can meet and represent the above requirements, but this can overload the network and altcoins were born to improve this.

The main purpose is to make money whether it is BTC or USD.  After trading years, it becomes a new standard to see a deep side of the capitalism and human greediness. Altcoins provide the best rate for the risk/reward ratio but investors need to understand the risks before clicking the deposit button the token sale pages. Living in XXI century requires new skills from traders and this century will become a good start fro the cryptocurrencies. Altcoins still have a huge percentage of chance in order to survive with the traditional financial markets.

I think both. We are investingin alts to make more BTC then eventually we will hold it as a long term investment to make more fiat money as a exchange. To be honest I think all of us are working to earn crypto in any or many ways to have more fiat money to make our life better and to have a continues progress.

It can be both. If you have a view that a particular altcoin, for a given timeframe, will outperform both fiat and BTC, then that can be a sound motivation for investment.

Since BTC has a much greater marketcap compared to most altcoins, the current limits of money supply in the world dictate that a small cap altcoin has the potential

to make greater percentage gains in comparison...

The endless discussion starts here. Which one is real money, BTC or USD? After the 20 years, the world will change and the people will not start to accept the USD as real money after they learn about the private shareholders of FED.
Traders usually make trades in order to make more BTC and they sell their Bitcoins for covering their daily life expenses. Altcoins have no real use in the real aka offline world and these coins only belong to the online world.

When people invest in altcoins, their ultimate goal is actually not to sell it immediately, but sell it when altcoins surge, and before altcoins can surge, it means bitcoin must have started consolidating, which makes the price a little but quite stable for a period of time without fluctuating while the altcoins is surging, during this time, many people already know what the value of bitcoin is in USD, and as the altcoins they had invested in surge, there are exchanges, applications that automatically calculate the value of such altcoins in usd.

I guess they must have internally converted it through btc before displaying the usd equivalent. Let’s say I invest during altcoins bear with $100, and then the altcoins season came, and the exchange shows me that my altcoins is now equivalent to $10k, even if I convert it to btc at that moment, because there is little or no much volatility during the consolidation, I still get my $10k when sold through btc.

Both are the purposes of investing in altcoins. Some people may refer to only the form of BTC for converting the altcoins. But some other people also choose fiat as the final choice. But, of course, both will have different sides. When it goes for the BTC, we must be ready for what happened to the price in the future, it can rise or even down to earth. But for fiat, it will be stagnant and will probably be used for offline business or utility. but of course, it will not make big profits enough. Personally, I choose both, some for fiat and some for BTC.

Bitcoin for many people is considered like digital gold and some altcoins are useful for business platforms. People who invest in altcoins because they see the market cannot be dominated only by bitcoin and investors speculate on good altcoins that have large liquidity

This has been the largest question for last couple of years. Before the introduction of stablecoins people jumped from BRC to alts when the price of Bitcoin started to decrease and vice versa when it increases but now people are moving towards stablecoins which is making it hard for allts to gain price.

i'm investing on alts just wanna trading and collecting more BTC , for me alts give more chance to get profit than BTC with my little amount of money. also alts give more variation price than BTC its self

Simply some altcoins can go up faster than Bitcoin. You can really make money exchanging them later for fiat and BTC.

I also think that one of the main intentions for ETH investors, for instance, is to use the token for other purposes, in Smart contracts, for example. Many altcoins projects give tokens' holders different privileges that can be also a reason for investments.

Yes indeed BTC is the best to invest. I'm absolutely fond of BTC. That is right, l want more fiat money, that is why I'm investing in altcoins, not all of them. Top altcoins are the best showing in my opinion. l prefer ETH. But when you choose this way don't worry you are certain on the right track, but you have to be patient. It can take a long time to increase the price.

Why isn't there a third option? Hoping that it will be the norm for currency? I mean I am pretty sure bitcoin will become more of a currency way before any other currency and bitcoin could be used and spent in some places right now (not enough imo) but what if I want to invest into eth and want eth to be the standard payment option globally.

We have usa dollars in america, we have British pounds in UK, we have euro in Europe and yuan in china, maybe I want eth to be the global thing where people all around the world accepts aside from their own national currency.

So, when you go to china you can spend yuan or eth, you go usa and you spend dollars or eth, you go uk than you spend pound or eth. Is that too much to ask right now? I mean surely with enough time it could happen? Maybe not now but in 20 years? Why not.

What I think about the purpose of investing in altcoins depends on individuals opinions. Some people do it just to avoid major declining in the price of bitcoin and ethereum. Some also do that just to exploit the investment opportunities in the altcoins investment.

That is why there are indicators to analyze the market. With this analysis, we have a defence that is not easily affected by issues that cause panic to sell or buy.
Everyone has their own strategies, techniques, and perspectives in managing capital and profits. Overall, I have the same viewpoint as you, it's easy, the benchmark is the main capital in the form of fiat, so I'm trying to be above BEP or at least the same.

I use altcoins to have more money in fiat, I consider 2 different investments
I have BTC (the most part of my portfolio) and I have some 4 or 5 alts, I trade in USD, and I try to have more BTC and more alts in a long term

These altcoins I have, I trust in a same level as BTC, so it's important to me to keep and try to have more in a long term

Both are possible, it depends on the holders. Personally, my main purpose of investing in altcoins is to earn Fiats. So, when the value rises, then I will sell the altcoins to convert to Fiats. However, sometimes if it is possible and profitable, I convert altcoins to Bitcoin. Then I will hold more Bitcoins for a long term asset.

I invest in Altcoin because Altcoin is very much in the exchange market today, and they have their own uniqueness, which has a different price, and when it looks profitable, I will do Arbit. So if successful it will add to my BTC.

Good question. But you have to realised that everyone here is to make more money (admit it or not). So it really up to you, you invest on alts you make a good gain 5x-10x liquidate it, rinse and repeat. So it really boils down to your level of understand here, is bitcoin the best asset to invest your money?

So it really up to the user, but in any case, I would go with bitcoin here, no need to exchange it to fiat, your money will just tank so it's better to re-invest in on bitcoin specially that we are already in a bullish market.

the goal most people invest in alt is to multiply their bitcoin, for the purpose of increasing fiat money it is the ultimate goal. and actually not all have that purpose, some have the purpose of making it easier for all transactions on all fronts, and this goal is very rarely found.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
Having more or less bitcoin than you started with would've been more beneficial if most goods and services are priced in bitcoin instead of fiat currencies and if prices of goods and services remain constant in their btc values despite the fluctuating price of bitcoin.
So what should matter more is the fiat value of your altcoins  not the bitcoin value

End purpose for most will be fiat. But the purpose of trading alts for most is to accumulate more btc, wait for btc to go up, then sell btc for fiat.

The idea is that investing in alts will be more profitable than simply investing in btc. I'm sure everyone knows how many alts did the 10x or 100x thing ... btc going up 10-100x from here is very unlikely. An alt with a lower marketcap may be unlikely to increase that much, but at least it's possible.

It depend on your interest if you are a crypto trader or long term investor than asset(i.e btc) will be your goal ,your main focus will be to increase the btc amount rather than focusing on fiat but if you are in crypto market just to get profit than fiat will be your goal. Generally big holder consider btc as main focus and they have created a trend to focus on btc only but for new trader they can focus on fiat.

It depends on your goals really.
Most people say accumulate more btc because they plan to cash out in one big swoop.
For example, they might target when btc reaches $20k or something then sell everything off.
This is actually really hard to do.
Not because btc won't go up that high (it will), but because people are greedy.
When they reach their goals, they just keep on hodling or trading thinking it can go up even more.

But, if you want immediate fiat income, then your goal would be to get fiat.
This is best achieved with consistent buy low sell high trading strategies using a stable coin.
For example, use USDT to buy a coin when it dips 3%, sell for 5% higher.
Evey month or three months you cash your USDT out to real fiat.

It depends on each person and with what you invest. Usually, if you have BTC and you invest part of it in alts, you will want to get more BTC, whereas if you invest in altcoins with fiat money, you will want to get more fiat money. Anyway, you have to do what you consider appropriate and follow your own ideas and not what anyone tells you.

Of course it is profit, or it can be called work. I am more interested in fiat (USD) than bitcoin because its value never changes. The strong fluctuation of bcc is only for those who dare to dare to do it. Alt has low value and strong growth in a short time, btc for me as a means of exchanging from altcoin to fiat

This is simple. I invested on alts because of a simple logic. To make a bigger profit since they are low in price but high possibility to multiply. But the main goal is to strengthen my investment for BTC for my long term investment since Bitcoin will eventually grow when the right time comes.
I also get some of my profit to convert it into fiat when really needed but as much as possible, I have a separate money in growing my BTC investment and money producing profit also for personal daily needs. Diversification of Funds is the key.

The purpose of investment altcoins will be different from person to person. However, in general, BTC is a goal of converting altcoins to. But, of course, investing in altcoins is a long-term investment that may take around at least 2 years. And of course, only certain altcoins are worth investing.

A while back when i asked this question about trading such as buying altcoins... such as buy an altcoin for $1 and buy say $1000 of it.  Let say btc was around $1000.  So it cost 1 btc to buy 1000 of that altcoin.  Let say price of altcoin went to $2.  You double your money.  Now if you were to sell the altcoin, you can't go directly to usd or usdt.  You need to sell for btc first.  Then people mentioned, you want to have more btc than you originally started with when you trade for altcoin.  At first that didn't make sense to me because I thought... well if altcoin goes up in price and you sell, you make profit.  Then people say well if btc went from $1000 to $3000 during the time your altcoin went from $1 to $2, you actually lose because when you sell your altcoin for btc, you are getting less btc than you put in... which would be less than 1 btc.  Such as you would only get 0.667 btc etc.  But I said well btc is worth more now.  But the point i made was well you now have $2000 fiat as oppose to $1000 fiat earlier.  Then people say well had you just kept the 1 btc, its now $3000 usd.  I said i get that... but you still make money here because you traded.

Now I said well what if the altcoin actually dropped in price from $1 to $0.50.  Then you sell it.  Well here you lost because you bought at 1 dollar, sold at 50 cent so you lose 1/2 your investment.  But say btc dropped 90% during this time from $1000 to $100.  Here... you started with 1btc... but now have 5 btc.  Obviously this is an extreme example but you understand my point.  Here, you lose usd value because 5 btc is worth only $500 if btc is 100 dollars.  But people say here this is good because you now have more btc than you started with.  Several people mention the goal of trading altcoin is to accumulate btc.  Is that true or false?

I mean i thought trading was always to get more fiat than you started with.  I completely understand the you want to have more btc than you put in part.  That makes sense.  But if you had a choice, aren't you suppose to choose you want fiat profit as oppose to btc accumulation?  Because its like some people seem to suggest, they rather lose money on an altcoin trade when they sell it back to btc... if they finish with more btc than they started with before the altcoin trade.  Thoughts on this?

But in general when you are investing in altcoins and trying to find that 5x, 10x, 50x etc... is your goal suppose to be accumulate more btc?  Or to get profit in terms of usd value?

Obviously you prefer both and you prefer investing in alt coins if both btc and alts do well but alts do much better than btc.  But if you only invest in alts, do you want altcoins to skyrocket and btc plummet?  That way you get back much more btc than you started with?  I always thought goal is to get more fiat when trading altcoins because you think it will do good.

Well, I think most of the people out there that are investing on cryptocurrencies are there to make fiat and not to make Bitcoin or any other altcoins because in the end they'll convert their crypto into fiat.

Fiat is still a main method for transection every body compares cryto from fiat that is why everyone loke to have fiat at the end. Combination of fiat and Crypto will be a good choice currently one IEO that is moozicore is usin both method in there app.
Fiat or the token for payment, since logically the world isnt that far to use crypto as payment, i think still 99% will use fiat. So even that side is bound to the project but it gives customers the option to join crypto and buy token on exchanges from selling people.
If people use the fiat way, 10% of those fiat will be send to the exchange and buy back from investors and burn those token away.

If it's just making fiat money, then one should invest directly in bitcoin. Putting money into alts is about accumulating more bitcoin and then sell those bitcoin at high price. However, more and more alts are listing with USDT pairs these days. Investing in alt/USDT pairs is also purposed to increase USDT.

this way, it is true if your calculation is how many altcoins you have with the price, then converted to btc, then you will find a number of btc ... then when the altcoin goes down, the conversion to btc will decrease, don't you mean that ?

yes, it is indeed reduced, but right between the conversion of coins to dollars does not change right? still the same. for example etherum = $ 100, has 5 etherum when btc costs $ 1000 then etherum to btc is 10 btc. then the etherum price falls, automatically the conversion to btc will decrease, but conversion to dollars will still be the same. if it drops $ 0.1, that's the result.

when we call something as an investment then the intention of doing it for making money no matter of what form it is like in Fiat are in cryptocurrencies so yes I do it for money but I would like to make more Bitcoins rather than for paper money because by the time because I will get the value but paper currency will lose it.

If you're interested in earning fiat, you can trade in cryptos that are paired with fiat stablecoins like USDT, USDC, TUSD, etc. For example, some of the popular fiat pairs in Binance are BTC/USDT, BNB/USDT and ETH/USDT.

Otherwise if you prefer to earn BTC, then just trade in crypto BTC pairs, of which some popular ones are BNB/BTC, ETH/BTC and XRP/BTC.
