At first I thought the Members button only shows every member on the Forum without hitting the search bar, for me it would have just give us the full names of members on the Forum instead of typing the preferred name you're searching for and those numbers should have been alphabet A-Z to bring the name alphabetically, if that can be changed then it would be easier to access.

You can search with different options.

In fact, you cannot. You can only search by position and name. Some options, such as searching by email, were frozen a while ago because some old accounts used temporary email addresses and it was easy to hack them using this method.

I use it to add members to my white list, especially since the username or link to the account is often not mentioned.

The members button is used to search for members via their user name. However just like _act_ mentioned, formerly when you hit that button you could view every single member on the forum perhaps in a serial arrangement of user ID. I think for some reason a similar function to that which is the view user stats button on a users profile was also removed. Probably someone who has stayed longer on this forum would be able to tell why.

When making a search Op make sure to use the search button however is you are particularly searching for a member of the forum, you should use the search button on the page you open when you click on members for a better result.

Some features like that one and User Stats are no longer a useful as they were or are completely redundant now. They were discontinued for privacy reasons or to optimize the functioning of the forum.

I also have a question. In the page to search for member one can - Search by messenger nickname. Did forum members have the option to have a custom nickname or was it limited to donators?

I have been in this forum for a relatively long time and during this time I have never used the members button. I always use ninjastic.space to search for forum accounts. It’s well detailed and has all the information you can possibly need.
The Ninjastic.space site can be helpful when it is still live because it has some additional tools for search. It will become useless when it stops working and becomes a dead site.

The Search of forum is always here and you will need to use it if Ninjastic.space, BPIP or Loyce.club will no longer work.

You can search with different options.

It's little things like this that Theymos really ought to update, because I see why OP is perhaps confused about the feature.  This is what it looks like when you click on "Members":

But what the link should really be is "Member Search".  Or at least that "view all members" link should be deleted and there should just be a field to search for specific members in.  Stuff like this shows just how ancient-ish bitcointalk is and how badly in need of some touch ups it is.

By the way OP, I search for members quite often using that functionality.  If you ever reference a member in a section like Reputation or Scam Accusations, for instance, it's a good idea to find the member's profile link and use it to create a hyperlink in your post, e.g., Foxpup is a vivacious, vile, voluptuous vixen.  Just an example there; no one touches me where I pee whilst wearing a mask and brandishing handcuffs unless it is that specific member.

when to use it and who can access or use this option ?[/b]

The "List of all members" feature bit the dust ages ago. Dont know the exact date myself, but I believe I read somewhere it was causing server issues with the massive number of members here.

Anyway, you can still use the "Members" option to search for members the old-fashioned way. Just head over to the "search for members" tab.

Initially, you could view a list of users, perhaps in alphabetical order, but it was disabled for some reason (perhaps security or to optimize on the forum loading time/performance). You can now only such up members as stated by _act_

Lightning network is good with small amount of BTC
You can use it to search for members on this forum. After you clicked on it, just click on search for members, you will see where you can write the name of the member and search for it.

I used it before I started to use Google search instead. But Google do not bring the name of brand new members but which the search for can be useful for.
