Hey,

So I know decimals and kind of know what the 2.401E-5 represents, but can someone bring it back to the 0.00000000 format for me? I have to think of 2.4 as 0.00002401 or something?

Thanks Smiley

E means the base of 10, in kind of a scientific notation.

So it's 10^-5, which is 0.00001

So you have 2.401 * 0.00001 = 0.00002401

please need help..

3.24E-5 = ? convert USD
please help me..

About eight cents. Convert scientific notation to standard notation if your calculator can't handle scientific notation, and then multiply by the current market rate (2508 USD/1BTC). I was under the impression that schools still taught basic mathematics, scientific notation, and ratios.

A more detailed explanation:

E-5 means 10^-5, that is 0.00001. You multiply this by the value before E.

Basically a negative number means to move the point left that many steps, a positive to the right.

So I did have it right? Yay! Why doesn't the website just show it like that? Anyway!

Thanks Smiley

It requires less numbers, and it is easier to see how much it actually is if you understand the system good (you could get lost when reading all the zeroes in 0.00002401). However, I'd say writing it in mBTC or µBTC would be even better.
