I am planning to open an account in Gate.io but I want to hear your opinion first about your experiences using this exchange, positive or negative otherwise. They lists lots of Metaverse/Gaming tokens that I like to buy (Atlas, UFO etc..) which are not available in Binance, Kucoin and Coinbase.

Please note that I am only a small time investor so I don't have yet the capacity to join in any ICO, IEO or IDO. That is my target in the near future.

Would say that they're legit but its still on your own take if you would register and make deposits into that platform yet any exchange does have risk on locking up your funds and so far i did make out some research Gate.io doesnt really still some issues which is a good indication but not
an assurance from time to time.

If you do see that they do list out Metaverse tokens which you couldnt find in those top or known exchange then you would really be having no choice
but to deal with the risk.

If you cant handle it out then you should just simply skip and move to another option which you are comfortable with.

I know its really hard to provide our personal details online but since we are into safety since its dangerous to deal anything over the net since scamming is everywhere. I'm so careful about this thing since its hard to lose our hard earned money for nothing so best for you to think about doing the KYC procedure what binance ask since this platform is much safer than those platform which doesn't require any KYC. But its still your choice since you are the one who handle the pressure on this kind of submission.

If you're only looking to buy and would withdraw them right after/don't want KYC. An alternative is to ask someone reputable with access to such coins to buy them for you. But the fee would most probably be higher than gate.io. If you're fine with that, look into currency exchange board.

Try to ask CryptopreneurBrainboss as well if they can get the cryptocurrencies you're looking to buy.

Update: You can now exchange your cryptocurrency to any desired coin or stablecoins of your choice provides they're listed on Binance exchange or other top exchange with liquidity.

It's your choice if you really want to pick Gate.io exchange to buy tokens that you want.  I have an unverified account on Gate.io and I was selling there 3 years ago and that was didn't require KYC.  But now, I didn't use it because of the KYC they implemented and I think that was since last year.  If you have these valid IDs for verification, (National ID, Passport, and Driver's License) then, you are good to go.

As what I have experienced before using this exchange was so far, so good and I have never encountered difficulties just like withdrawal.  If you don't have an option, just take a risk on that platform but remember once you have submitted KYC, it will always be there.

If you're investing to atlas, you should choose FTX than gate.io. IMO, that's the best exchange that you can trust that has listed that token you want to buy.
Thus, if there are other tokens that you want to purchase and it's only listed in gate.io you have no option but to rely on that exchange. As asked by the others, are you willing to undergo KYC? Just as binance, they're likely going to ask you KYC to continue trading. PS, I haven't used them.

Are you willing to pass KYC? If you are, then you won't find Gate.io's requirement unacceptable. But be reminded that this is a centralized exchange. Meaning, this exchange has control over your funds. They could lock it anytime.

By saying that you are only a small time investor, I assume that you will only be depositing small amounts. And rightly so. Avoid having large funds lying around in centralized exchanges.

Well, in the first place, if the tokens you'd like to buy are accessible through Gate.io only, then you don't have much option.

I have never used the exchange myself, but the most common negative reviews and complaints I have seen against them most talk about their KYC policy. They can decide to block your account at any time and request you to upload KYC documents. Make sure you are aware of this before you open an account and deposit your tokens there.

I will recommend to read some reviews first (https://www.trustpilot.com/review/gate.io) regarding gate.io before doing stuffs there as they require KYC. I see lots of negative reviews, scam accusations related to withdrawals and etc..

If those coins are not available anywhere but on Gate.io only, you don't have a choice either regardless of their status.
^^ If and only ifs, then you should accept the risks of using their platform.

If that coins only listed on Gate.io, do not invest in them. No matter how much profit you can make, you may not be able to withdraw your money and may harm to do KYC without getting anything.
If the cryptocurrency is available on other platforms, use others.

There is no reason to use it unless the amount is small and less than you can withdraw from the traditional platforms.

This does not mean that Gate.io is scam, but rather gray.

Finally, all the coins associated with metaverses should be considered as scams unless you study them because most scammers look for smelly terms to get the legitimacy of their projects.

Gate.io is not a too big exchange like Binance, KuCoin, or other exchanges. But Gate.io is one of the good exchanges and I have an account with them. The KYC process is simply like the other exchanges and it does not need too long to see they will verify your account.

Related to the Metaverse, maybe Gate.io will collaborate with many Gaming projects to have a slot in their coins/tokens list so you only see the token is listed on Gate.io. Maybe the daily trading volume is not too big as the other exchange, but I guess that will be up to you. Besides that, I think you can sell the token in that exchange and then send it to your main exchanges.

Seems the exchange has a good positive rating but watch out for their KYC.
I read a thread before that KYC is mandatory before anyone can deposit. Same as other exchanges that KYC is needed.
