Well that's a simple explanation. Thank you. So right now you'd have to get a 1.18G share to find a block? Is that right? And does it matter what kind of horsepower you have? I mean hash rate just gives you more opportunities i.e. " luck " but any device is capable of finding that share, right.

You've got it. There are so many "guesses" a second, total network speed, and the protocol tries to compensate to keep blocks, or shares, found every ten minutes based on the number of "guesses" available per second on the network. Bitcoin doesn't care if you submit a 1.18G share from a USB block eruptor or a huge farm.

On bitcoin I had 800 million once. Litecoin, I don't think I've had more than 460 million. I like to take screenshots of my best shares for some reason  Grin

12.1 million.  If the best share is higher than the difficulty then you found a block.

Just wondering what people have seen as their Best Share and what does that really mean.
For the record mine is 406k. And I have no idea what that REALLY means.
