If you wanted an accurate record of information about current history, where would you start your search? Do you still trust the information you read on public repositories like Wikipedia?

Keeping accurate records of events is very difficult especially where written sources are lacking and people are relying solely on more robust electronic sources like an online encyclopedia. This is because these sources of information on history and events have a myriad of limitations. Written records like books cannot be retrieved once destroyed while the information contained in publicly available repositories could be erroneous, exaggerated, biased or just plain wrong.

Ensuring that accurate history about the past is recorded and protected from perversion is an important goal for Historia—that if we can secure significant cultural and historical events in an immutable manner, then we can preserve accurate accounts of historical facts for future generations. These records could also serve as a moral and economic guideline for humanity to advance forward.

Historia blockchain is special because it offers a solution to three big problems regarding history:

a. Historia ensures that original records of history are preserved so that we can maintain continuity between our past and our present.
b. Historia incentivizes the contribution of accurate historical events that will be reviewed by a diverse, globally distributed pool of voters. This ensures that any changes made to records are legitimate and have not affected the content.
c. Historia decentralizes the recording of history from the few to the many, providing a change log to history and a platform to combat censorship and bias.
Specifically, Historia uses blockchain technology to keep digital records about our history and track changes made to the information so that ultimately it can still be trusted as accurate and authentic.

Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology which is both tamper-proof and self-auditing. Information held on blockchain exists as a distributed and continually reconciled database, which means the data it keeps is truly transparent and easily verifiable.

Historia is using this technology to generate and register hashes (unique digital signatures) of content so as to make the content immutable.  Where content has been legitimately changed, hashes of the code used for change as well as hashes of the content, is registered automatically on the blockchain. This ensures that in the event digital records are modified, an audit trail is created and we are able to know exactly what was edited.

In order to achieve these goals, we have built Historia blockchain on the Dash 12.2.3 codebase. We chose Dash mainly because of its masternode system that creates a voting and governance layer to support the services within Historia ecosystem. With Dash codebase, we can ensure Historia blockchain is scaling at high speeds and keep transaction fees very low along with providing superior privacy and security on the network.

In Historia, the masternode owners decide what is accurate and what is not. Only masternode owners can vote to add or deny the proposed record into the Historia blockchain. This prevents gaming of the system via automated “bots”. If the majority of the owners come to consensus from researching the proposed record and determine that it is accurate, then the record will receive funding and be permanently added to the Historia blockchain.  Once the recorded is added to the blockchain, it becomes immutable and can neither be altered, edited, or deleted. This is a feature of the system to prevent changes to the records, even under distress from bad actors or threat of imprisonment. The masternode owners must take this responsibility seriously, as what they accept as accurate will be recorded in perpetuity.

In addition to these inherent Dash features, Historia blockchain also employs Interplanetary File Storage (IPFS) system to provide a hash addressable peer-to-peer content storage system. IPFS integration allows guarantees that content hosted on Historia blockchain is immutable and highly secure.  The platform is also equipped with locking record features, treasury ratio changes to help further support content submission, as well as X16R Hashing algorithm for easier mining using GPUs.

Historia’s approach will result in the creation of incorruptible records of the state of recent events as well as our heritage. These records will be verifiable using consensus mechanisms, many years in the future.

Lastly, Historia incentivizes users to submit current events that are as accurate as possible. By submitting accurate current events or voting on submitted content, you earn Historia coin as a reward. Becoming part of Historia is rewarding for everyone— editors, miners, and masternode owners.

That’s what makes Historia so special!
