For those who struggle with metric system, how do you feel about the idea of bitPound (= BTC0.453592) and bitOunce (0.0625 of bitPound)  Smiley

I am not saying we should stop using the metric units, but we can use both of two systems.
It is like we are also using kilograms and pounds for weight in different part of the world.
Its very important to standardize in all spheres! Cool

the prefix milli is to indicate a one-thousandth part of the unit

I have no problem using the mBTC and µBTC, but as I have seen more and more having problem with these SI prefixes, it makes me start feeling the suggestion of using "bits" does make sense.

If 5,700,000,000 people have no problems with mBTC and uBTC and 300,000,000 Americain can learn it why change it?

Which is likewise retarded. The only reason to do that, is, so some countries can feel special about them self, which indeed makes them "special".

How is memorizing what a "bit" is easier than memorizing what a mBTC is?

Because the majority of people in the world are already used to using 1 "dollar" = 100 "cent", 1 "pound" = 100 "penny", 1 "peso" = 100 "centavo", 1 "rupee" = 100 "paise", etc, in dealing with their own local fiat currencies. That should help them easier to get used to 1 "bit" = 100 "satoshi".

Just wondering because someones charging $2 per mBTC

do the thinking for me, only half my brain works Wink

post BTC address for tipping on good explanation

Well, milli is a prefix equal to 10^-3 or 0.001

1% is equal to 0.01

Thus  1 mBTC must be equal to 0.1% of 1 BTC

Edit:
1 mBTC is worth $0.21 at this moment.

That's a pretty decent answer.
