It is hard to get merits especially now that is being used as a determinant for quality posts. It is very important you started posts those comments that help people and in return, you will get merits from those that see your comments helpful.

You registered 10 days ago, wrote only 18 posts and you are already complaining about merits...this attitude won't help you much.
Getting merits is  not that hard, if you actually have something to say. There are plenty of people that are helping newbies like us and are sharing merits for decent posts.
As you mentioned it yourself, you know what is needed, so just stick to that, don't write cliche oneliners, have some clue on the subject you are writing about and merits will come.

Afterall, you can always upgrade your account to copper member if you want to  share pictures, wear signatures etc.

I've just heard of Cooper thing, but don't know details and have not even seen much such account. They bought status?

Yes, you can upgrade your account, here is the link with all info needed.

It is certainly a good way to remove some newbie account restrictions  and make it a bit easier to participate in this forum.

It's not difficult to get merits, really.
Write good quality posts,  constructive posts which can benefit others and you will be receive reward in merits.
Also,  there are many giveaway topics where you can report your posts and receive merits.

You would buy them so you could sell your account quickly then rinse and repeat? It was made precisely to deter you from doing that, oh and spam.
Since you already know the answer, you have probably done this before...
