Wrong.
I had a conclusive incident that erased any doubt as a teenager.
BUT i think most are simply having a mental issue.
If you are feeling spooked in a big house all alone at night the odds you will see creepy shit is high.
Anyway with my story i seen a what is typically called a ghost.
And the clincher to the story was a chick i was with seen it too.
We were facing each other laughing and doing laundry in the evening past dinner time in the laundry room of an apt building so we were not talking about spooky stuff etc.
Then randomly we both looked to our side where the door was
and then simultaneously turned in unison and both said at once "Did you see that ?"
And we then both described seeing the same ghostly figure that could best be described as an old lady floating by.
Then we both bolted out the doorway and i went left and she went right.
There was nothing anywhere on the whole floor and we also checked down the stair well and out to the front door.. there was no one and nothing anywhere at all and not one sound of any kind.
And further more there was fire doors many of them all down the apt hallways which made a noise when the closed and had those things on them that slow them down so they don't slam.
The fire-doors were not moved (there was one right by the laundry room entrance)
So we seen what we seen ..no other way to look at it.
And not only that i had many family members of the years run the massive 2 building old apt's so i heard of many stories of people dying there.
Hell i watched my grandma choke to death there once and she came to eventually.
I now what dead eyes look like.
And i also had at the time my Mom who was the manager tell me to visit some old lady i never met there because she told me the women had some things she wanted to give me.. i thought it was kind of weird of course but i went and had coffee with the old lady and she gave a me a few things like a Walkman.
In between that day and the ghost incident the lady died.. old age i think.
Related ? who knows.. probably not but it add's plausibility.
The building was mostly Asian migrants from Vietnam or Laos in Clearbrook, BC, Canada.
Someone scratched onto the dead ladies apt door "old lady die here"
YEAH ! fucking creepy LOL
Back then it was called "Countess Gardens" later the name was changed to "Cedar Green Apartments"
I lived there around the late 80's up until around 1990 one hell of a run down building with parts of building 2 condemned with an underground parking that was so scary no one parked down there or dared go down there and a pool area that was left for dead 30 yrs earlier.
I could go on for ages on how scary the place was.. it was nasty shithole LOL
So the bottom line is if it was not for the 2nd witness experiencing the same thing as me at the same time i would have just chalked it up to some mental thing like cosmic rays.. paranoia.. a brain aneurysm etc. anything really.
What we both described was seeing a white'ish semi transparent ghostly figure float by the size and shape of an old lady.
I was stuck with the reality i seen what i seen forever afterwards whether i like it or not.
I have no other reasonable explanation.
Only thing left for me to think about is what is it ?
I guess that is the area for speculation.. not whether they exist.
And i too would be skeptical calling bullshit had i not seen one with my own eyes.
Just because YOU did not see one doesn't mean it's impossible for someone else to see one.
@JoeQ
You are right we are designed for pattern recognition etc.
We are created to look for things for various reasons.. it's genetic human nature.
..even when nothing is there.
Such as the constellations in space.. just a perceptive interpretation.
Proof ?
See my topic in off-topic from last year with image tricks i posted here or google them.. there is many.
It's not hard to fool the eyes / brain.
