What percentage of US Dollars were pickpocketed at some time?

What percentage of USD were generated by pickpocketing everyone with USD savings via inflation?   Grin

By that logic, no cars have been stolen. All cars are driven by someone that controls the car using the steering wheel, engine, and brakes.

No car that can not be started by means other then the factory key have ever been stolen.

I think you guys need to clear up with yourself if bitcoins are an asset or a currency.  If they're a currency, then theoretical not bitcoins are stolen.  You could ask, how many are mismanaged.....

So you would assert that dollars, which is a currency, cannot be stolen?

None have been stolen. All coins were spent by everyone who controls the unspent outputs using the private key of the bitcoin address where the coins are.

About 800,000 BTC has been stolen according to the list here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/list-of-major-bitcoin-heists-thefts-hacks-scams-and-losses-old-83794

800,000 BTC is about 7% of all the bitcoins currently in existence.

Show me a provable way to identify a coin as 'hot' and I'll tell you how many there are.

I'm not suggesting there is.  How about a rough estimate based on published reports alone?

"Hot" as in once been stolen. There have been many large and small thefts of bitcoin.  Any idea what its rate of theft or total stolen coin % is? (and how that would compare to other currencies.)
