I have done a lot of ICO in the past with ambiguous categories but now I know better. I am picking from this categories; AI, Travel and Tourism, Security. I would have put Real Estate in the mix but some part of me thinks its nothing but a glorified HYIP. So I will stick with these three for now

One of My campaign was the ''DATARIUS CRYPTOBANK" and I really like this project since this bank were using blockchain technology and decentralization of monitoring of fund, so this really intented for cryptocurrency, This bank very unlikely to our traditional bank.

I would recommend a project that has a private blockchain
majority, the Ethereum platform is popularly used for kick start projects, but ERC20 is not an ideal coin that can be used for long term

for this year I prefer to ICO with concept like AI, Fintech Bussiness and Energy because ICO that exist at the end of the year yesterday until the beginning of this year show positive value on type of ICO.
there is even an ICO that quickly reach hardcap and the price according to the time already listing in the market

Application of the token of a project is always of utmost importance to me. The first thing i look at in every project i come across is the use case, followed by the team. While other areas are mere additions.

They are a lot of successful projects in all different areas. My favourite are Gambling, Security and Social media apps. I don't thing that we should judge them by this character alone.

the hardest thing is predicting whether they will succeed or not.
Some are unsuccessful and they will refund investors' money.
whereas, bounty hunter gets nothing.

Whatever platform it is, if the project is not scam then the ico project will be successful and obligatory to follow. Unfortunately it is too difficult to distinguish where the legit ico and scam
