Degen in the Space
You can deploy meme token with every animal in this planet earth as a mascot and the market will decide which one deserving attention.
there's no qualification or requirement at all, back story is great but even then some random animal meme coin could just go up out of nowhere.
so really it's all about luck and how market react to it.
.
Narrative plays a crucial role in every meme plays in crypto. While many think that people throwing money at memes are just foolish/dumb, the reality is that even big people are investing heavily in meme tokens these days, the opportunity is there. However, what truly sets a successful meme apart is having a interesting narrative or backstory that resonates with the community and captures the attention of degens.

Take $PNUT, for example. It skyrocketed because of its back story, a tribute to a squirrel that was euthanized. What made it stand out wasn't just the humor or absurdity of the meme itself but the emotional attachment and collective fun that the community built around it. This demonstrates that even in the meme-driven crypto market, projects with deeper meaning and strong narratives are the ones that truly send. Didn't expect that some are hating too much on memes, finance aren't really about the utilities or modern technology, and that's how $DOGE started too.

It's not just about being a meme, it's about creating a connection, hype, and weaving a story. A good narrative turns a token into something more than just a speculative asset.

Meme coins are for fun and they have no use case and rely on pumps, and trends for big shifts. The dog Kabosu on dogecoin was a big trend on the internet and when it was featured on doge, it caught the attention of everyone who liked the meme. It facilitated the exposure of dogecoin with lots of traffic after it was launched.

Hence, animals that turned famous memes on the internet are qualified, as it'll be a marketing strategy for the developers.

indeed it is an effective marketing to attract people to enter it, with animal-themed coins being very popular, it is a breakthrough where the price of crypto currency is slowly creeping up so that is a market strategy where Doge takes part in it, which is where it is a concern for now.

literally any animal that's trending topic and carries hype can be used for meme mascot, after that, the market will decide whether the hype justify its position in the market and will see how much valuation it will get.

meme coin is just trial and error, some people just deploy whatever on their mind and make it as a mascot for their meme coin because why not. that's why the meme coin spaces so infested with shit coin.
in a nutshell, any random animal can be used as a meme coin mascot, but the one that have backstory and hype takes precedence because it's easier to attract attention.

remember that meme coin is just a tool for speculation, basically people actually don't care about which mascot you use as long as it can attract speculation.

Well now there is a new animal meme coin after death of a squirrel. Their is a viral squirrel called Peanut the Squirrel that has 500k instagram followers.
He was so now there is peanut meme coins on Solana network and marketpcaps of $200 Million. If a animal is viral I do think it can be a meme coin.

...Meme coins before are nothing but only just a meme, though later on, their devs decided to make a twist into it like adding a utility. It makes them even more attractive.

Though, in the case of Dogecoin and other PoW meme coins, when we talk about added utilities, what would we mean with that exactly? I could understand it in the case of Shiba Inu, as it is a token within the ecosystem of Ethereum, but Dogecoin is just a proof of work coin which does not have further utility different from what it had when was first launched. Sure, there can be some soft-forks in place to improve fees of the network and compatibility with wallets and nodes, but in the end of the day it is not as if Dogecoin could enjoy of smart contracts as Ethereum does (without a hard-fork).
If there is something which has improved about Dogecoin is its community, it has become more mature and approach at the same time that project as a meme, but also continue to keep in mind the financial repercussions of holding a significant amount of that coin in the long term.

I don’t think there is anything in particular that qualifies an animal to be a meme coin mascot. Most meme coins are a shot straight out of a cannon. Most of them don’t do very well, it’s really luck if they do well or not. If the right celebrity or public figure pushes them & they get a hype on social media they can do well, the type of animal isn’t what makes them succeed or not.

The community of a meme and degens push the price up.
If there is a narrative or a story for it - that's even better, especially if it's associated with a meme that's already big.
Memes live till the hype about them lives Grin
Guess when you say community, this already includes their founders and this can even include those degens. They all can contribute on pushing the price up due to demand but founders do it for its project to attract more people and if they aren't really serious about it, they will then dump most of their hodlings later on.

Even though some didn't really care about any other things apart from earnings, well for me, I do (just like you). A story is important because it gives us an idea on why the project is created and we can feel the characters or their emotions on their journey of making their craft stand out and look better than the rest of the crowd. It makes us to decide better if we will continue on supporting them or not.

Yep.
It at least feels more natural and organic when there is a story and a path to follow.
Not only giggles and profit at hand. Though, most would look only after it.

I think any animal can be used to start a memecoin project, but the whole point of creating a memecoin is for the animal or the mascot to be recognizable and inspire hype on people who decide to look into it. Dogecoin is the ultimate case, because it was pretty much a popular meme before it got turned into a coin, so half of the work was already done. Nowadays, memecoins projects are not about turning a meme into a coin anymore,
Yes and it is not only limited to animals actually but to almost anything as well, as long as there is a humour that sparks on it. That makes it a meme that circulates over the internet. Memes are not new but it was only Dogecoin that take the first step in the crypto world, which is why it is more memorable than the rest/newer ones. Meme coins before are nothing but only just a meme, though later on, their devs decided to make a twist into it like adding a utility. It makes them even more attractive.

unbelievable, even political meme coins exist
the meme coin trenches, prominently in solana but not limited to, always deploy whatever they deemed to be hype, back then I still remember some random people deploying wukong token just because the game is hype, same thing with neiro and so on.
so political meme coin is actually very normal in this regard.

it perfectly sums up what meme coin is all about, creating whatever token as much as they can and hoping one become a big hit, which of course gonna pollute the entire blockchain with these no value token and even if they somehow get valued by the market, the value will be gone in just maybe half year.

but i'd say, completely normal phenomenon in the space of meme coin.

To be fair, it is not about the animal but about the meme. If a dog is a meme then doge is a memecoin, that is how doge started, it was a meme online. So if a camel isn't a meme, then you can't make a camel coin and call it a memecoin, that doesn't work that way.

Ape was a thing, because wallstreetbets called each other apes, and doge we already know, some made shiba and floki, shiba is the type of dog that is on the doge image, and floki is Elon Musks shiba, so these all were tied together. I believe we are not going to be forcing anything to become a meme, but we can turn an already existing meme into a memecoin if we want to, that's how it works. If you see a meme, then you can make a token of it and hope it takes off in price.

Unfortunately, copy-paste is increasing every year. Meme coins started copying Doge when Musk paid attention to Doge. If Doge had failed and never received attention, then we wouldn't see many meme coins today. This leads me to believe that meme coin creators are just creating these coins to get rich quick at the expense of greedy people. It has become a pump and dump scheme. I wonder when people started to stop putting money into this type of high-risk scheme. In my opinion, putting money into meme coins is like gambling at a casino. You are counting on luck. Just today I read this article:

PolitiFi memecoins are surging as they near the US elections, which could mark their final act unless they find new life serving the community’s interest.

Yes, they probably have a backstory but who cares, it's a memecoin and most of them have no usage for the crypto industry. Remember, they are just for fun, most of them, or maybe all of them so there's no telling which one will rug pull or scam just to get some hundreds of dollars.

Anyway, I've seen a frog-like meme coin although I forgot the name. Yeah, I easily forget them because I don't buy them. Then, there's the monkey too which I don't know the name of either.
You can create one for your dog if you want, it's made for fun, right? They say it must be cute, dogs are cute, cats too, maybe a dolphin could also work or a hamster, oh I think a project with a hamster already exists. See? Cute?

There's no qualification; any animal can be a meme or even a person can be a meme as long as the meme has a good narrative that the community will embrace and look up to, Of course, you need an army of shills and investors who are good at manipulatingthe market and making people believe that your meme is the meme killer of another popular meme.
Memes are an overstaying concept, and some investors keep supporting them in the hope that they will make a lot of money, just like the early meme investors.

It seems like animal meme coins are the popular trend these days with most circling around DOGE but even then, there's the occasional animal Meme coin that has no relation to DOGE but what I do wonder is what qualifies an animal to be a meme coin mascot. If it was popularity, Harambe would have a meme coin...probably does. Still, I'm wondering about this because I saw one Eth meme coin with a Hippo mascot named MOODENETH https://moodeng.vip/. It probably has a backstory I'm not aware of but it still begs the question of if anyone can just randomly create a meme coin cause I should probably create one for my Dog lol. Anyway, I'd like to hear what you guys think.
People follow the same trend since Dogecoin started with an animal (dog), so other copycats believe in animals since Dogecoin was a success. It's always like that in our society even as the person who started Dogecoin might have just created it with a dog meme for his love for dogs, others would copy it with or without their love for dogs or other animals.

So these different animals you see linked to meme coins today are just the beginning, more are coming as people now have that mentality that memes must be linked with animals.

Also, I believe the worst choice for a memecoin based on an animal would be an animal which nobody has ever heard of and people are not interested in learning about.

Yeah, it wouldn't gain any traction or good backstory, thus resulting in the community just abandoning it, in my opinion. Imagine a coin with an image of Uroborus or something along the lines of it.. Roll Eyes

Any animal can become a mascot for a memecoin, as long as there is enough money involved on it to run the pump and dump scheme. If there is big money involved to run advertisement campaigns and to raise the memecoin's price artificially on short run, the animal displayed is going to get famous and popular quite fast.

Do you think Doge got hyped in huge proportions due to the dog meme picture? Not exactly. It was due to Elon Musk shilling for it, or to say more precisely, due to Musk's money and influence.

You can try to find the perfect mascot really hard, but if you don't have the money to make it popular, it won't happen, anyway.

Stupid things like memecoins doesn't require a qualification to choose their mascot. It can be anything and everything under the sun. You can go to Ideogram/playground AI and generate an image of an animal and then ask Chatgpt to write a backstory of the mascot and then hire a developer in Fiverr to create a cryptocurrency for you and manage it afterwards. The entire process will cost you less than 500 USD.

So don't take memecoins seriously! These are stupid and actually bringing in scammers into this market.

Based on my observation any animals will do and you can create your own I stumble one named Suiman or something, its not really the animal its how you make a story behind your meme, you can make a meme in a lizard you can name it and create story about that lizard like how the lizard help you got home when you are loss in a forest  Cheesy.
Joking aside, people should stop creating memes because the market is over saturated and there's no use case on these memes only stories in which the developers only created in his imagination, its the newbies that suffers from investing on these memes who are not knowledgeable on how to invest.

Moo Deng is a popular pigmy baby hippo, it seems like the internet likes him so much they make a lot of memes about this animal. That there is a 247 live streaming of him.
Some even make cakes that look like him and slice the cake live.

Of all the memecoins today though, I'm not sure if the creator of Moodeng memecoin will still make it. Crypto people have had enough of these. But he could spam it to the people of Thailand and see if they buy it.
I think it comes down to the back story if OP is observant enough.

recent popular meme such as Moodeng and NEIRO have backstory behind that back up the hype.

Moodeng is as you mentioned a baby hippo. on the other hand NEIRO is a dog that gets adopted by DOGE's owner so people expect something out of it.

it's always the narrative built around, sound silly indeed, but people just like to speculate on things which is normal, so I expect if there's any meme coin that gonna gets valued at 500 million again Grin. it's gonna be a meme coin with some background story.

And not only that but this story would be tied to another big meme / just be that good for the community to put their funds on.
I do think it's an interesting phenomena, though, people put their money both on new memes and utility projects alike, with many risks attached to both Grin

Yes that's how stupid thos has gotten.  Copy paste code, throw a random animal on it.  Have a team to create weird dumb memes around it and then sell it to people in hopes it pumps for no reason.  That's basically what this has come to at this point and unsure why anyone would throw theor money into that.  There are plenty of good crypto projects out there don't waste your time on scammy memecoins.

But that's how memes are supposed to be. Doge, Shiba, floki that are seemingly building don't have that kinda hype anymore .people just jump in new trend, go in and out like it doesn't matter.. anyways I've benefitted from meme alot this year, thanks to platforms like Bitget fast listing. My plan is go in, take our 75% and ride the rest till whenever..for moon Deng, since it's on eth. I might consider bidding.

That's fine but they are literally all just ponzis.  The hold is that someone more stupid will come in and buy it for a higher price.  None of them are viable projects worth even a dollar of investment.  Just because you make money one time on them means that this will all end well.  Logic tells me useless things eventually get replaced by things that are useful.  A ton of you will be left hiding the bag. Like you said you will move your money to another meem.  Musical chairs eventually there will be no chair left and you are left holding a worthless bag of coins.  That's how this ends.

Meme coins are now taking over the crypto world, especially with the success of DOGE at the helm. It's funny because the animal mascot's "powers" seem to have more to do with weakness or infection than any particular trait. It's true that dog-like animals seem to get people buzzing, but you're right, there's no reason why something like a dog (MOODENETH) or even a beast can't attract attention if done right!

I think the main advantage of memes is that ideas can be relatable or viral. This makes them more of a social and cultural phenomenon than a lucrative project. But it makes you wonder, could animal mascots work if they were overhyped? Maybe I should start making my own memory coin memes for my dogs. He has that personality haha!

Yep, that's what meme coins are, right? They're fast-paced and focused on the trends of the moment. You care about Doge, Shiba, and Floki as they create incredibly complex things. People tend to lose their initial excitement and start hunting for the next big meme trend. People seem to be trying to catch the wave, withdraw their money, and move on.

Glad to hear you capitalized on this year's meme craze. Platforms like Bitget are very helpful in getting ads posted quickly. and strategies for getting 75% off while you wait a bit to see how far you can go. That seems like wisdom for Moon Deng. Since it's on Ethereum, it might be interesting to see how it plays out. Maybe I can keep an eye on that too!

Your post just describes how ugly the meme concept, is. Just imagine all you need is an animal, and you can draw it yourself and pay someone to create a token for you and copy and paste introductions from other memes, and voila, you have your own cash cow ready to launch to the world.
I stopped investing in these memes because there's no technology and use case behind them; it's a stepping stone for newbie scammers to launch their project.
