Right now there isn't any or less profit investing in ICOs although crowdfund isn't dead but ICO is. I believe in near future STO will take over the market. Maybe then you can consider using the established coins like bitcoin and ethereum to invest in them. STO has less risk but don't think it'll have the same ROI ICO did in short time.

ico but the risk factor is quite higher than the profit.

Ye ico risk compared to bitcoin is several times bigger.
Bitcoin is estabilished, its first, its convervative = safe.
ICO is big unknown, can dissapear in a day.

The market is the on the down road and this time the acceleration is quite moving fast bitcoin has dropped below the 4000$ mark ethereum is at the door of going below 100$ mark and other coin are doing poorly as well.

Little to wonder what hope is there for all this tons of ico around of late I don't want to sound pessimistic about investing in ico but the risk factor is quite higher than the profit.

The bear market turned out to be deadly for many ICOs. This does not mean that very promising new projects do not appear on the market. Maybe this moment, in which the prices of the majority of cryptocurrencies have dropped, it is the most appropriate to start the ICO. If it turns out that within 2-3 months (or earlier) the downward trend will reverse, the ICO projects that will start now, will gain the most.

This is the reason why any ICO that you wish to invest in needs to be 100% transparent and have a good rating across multiple review sites. If the team cannot be identified then stay away from it

ICOs now are nothing but funding collection agencies that SEC is now looking at. There are still some quite few good ICOs that aims to improve their operation and company expansion but most of them are just the same.

Sad to say that ICOs now aren't longer reliable if an investor is focused with it. Like everyone is saying, the days are now over for most of the ICOs and I've read a statement before that said next years are going to be the ICOs of real companies since SEC is stepping in.

ICOs have been too risky for a while already that it's really not ideal to invest in one as the risks are unnecessarily too high, unless you probably know every ins and outs of the project and if you've personally met the team in their own office or something; just to have proof that a certain project is actually 100% legitimate. I mean, isn't bitcoin or ethereum risky enough as speculative investments? If it comes to the point that I'd invest in an ICO, I'd rather just go to a local casino. At least I would still somewhat enjoy it even if I lose money.

ICOs have a very bad panorama ahead. The early bird gets the worm, and all the early birds have had their full belly’s worth already. The latecomer ICOs can no longer live of hype and thin air, but need to provide some serious arguments to investors in order to even qualify for their consideration.

With hype invertors out of the scene, and ICO experience being forged in red letters all over the cryptosphere, along with general marked trends as of late, I don’t know how the devil anyone can sum-up the courage (or innocence) to invest in ICOs anymore …

Investing in ICO has always been a very risky venture, the book of 2017 did a lot to cover up the flaws in most projects, and they passed for good projects as they were trading with enough volume. Most have died off now.

It's best to go for top cryptocurrencies, by market capitalization. The risks are still present buy comparatively lesser.

I am alive but in hibernation.
I think the days of ICOs are over. We may see a few good ones start, but I suspect they will be rare. All the scams seem to hace triggered the call for regulation, and hopefully that will reduce the number of scams. I understand that more than 95% of the ones created so far have been rubbish and fraudulent.

+1 with you.
Government are making rules as well as educating the investors also about the pitfalls. So many scam/failed ICO also serves as warning to the investor to look deeper before investing. we have lot of article in forum to evaluate the ICO legitness.

I agree over 95% of the initial coin offerings of late are pathetic scam project and the remaining 5% are really not worth the while. Strategical is lethal investing a huge chunk in such project.

Considering the low level the bitcoin has reached in the past weeks, you tend to get this gut feeling that ICO's are definitely going to "suffer" more in this "bad" market..
Think of the bitcoin being below 4k, then what's the hope for newly birthed coins, with no proper management or backing nor any real vision..
But definitely there will be good ones here and there, but the majority as it as always being with either be a scam or fail when it hits the exchange market...
This is a generally bad time, both for the bitcoin and ICO'S

The risk factor is always there when taking on an ICO investment. As all you have to go buy is promises, and a whitepaper, bearing in mind that projects who source for funds through ICOs are limited by capital.

Majority of ICOs are hibernating right now, through the 'crypto winter'. And postponing their ICO till the market improves, as an investor, you might also want to take a break. But, there are different types of traders and investors, some are profiting from the bear, this mostly coming from already established currencies.
Do what suits your strategy.
