Btc-e is on maintenance - { I think they were raided or hacked, because a lot of rumours are flying around. }

Alphabay was taken down by the police - { Why not? It was a platform for illegal activities }

Bitmixer is closing down (voluntarily) - { Globally governments are putting pressure on mixers to close their doors }

We should not complain... Most people want Bitcoin to clean up it's reputation for being a currency connected with crime.  Roll Eyes

What the hell is going on?

Btc-e is on maintenance

More than 24 hours now. They said they are in unscheduled maintenance. I don't think they are hack.

Alphabay was taken down by the police because of online drug trading.

Its all over the news lately. Because they are dealing with online drugs that's why the government has to stop them.

Bitmixer is closing down (voluntarily)

They have officially release statement about shutting it down. We don't know the real reason behind this. We can only speculate that some big entities forced them to stop their mixing services and changed his tone about anonymity with regards to bitcoin usage.

Is there any connection between those or just coincidence?

I don't know really what to think of all the negatives things that is going on with crypto or bitcoin market in general.

coincidence! that is obvious at least to me!

all the alphabay and illegal stuff has nothing to do with btc-e at least. and i will believe this unless i see otherwise. in the past there has been no indication of their involvement in anything shady. they are somewhat anonymous exchange which has always respected users privacy.

bitmixer closing may have something to do with alphabay but we can never be sure about it.
