I like XMG but I am not sure about the mining. Doesn't it autobalance rewards or something so there isn't a lot of point in throwing a lot of power at it? Still trying to figure that out. In the meantime, I just bought some coins. lol

I decided to try mining some AEON with XMR-STAK and I am trying to figure out if these hash rates are normal for an i7-7700k or not. Here is the XMR-STAK hash report:

HASHRATE REPORT - CPU
| ID |    10s |    60s |    15m | ID |    10s |    60s |    15m |
|  0 |  164.4 |  165.2 |   (na) |  1 |  163.8 |  164.8 |   (na) |
|  2 |  163.0 |  163.3 |   (na) |  3 |  160.0 |  161.0 |   (na) |
|  4 |  165.0 |  165.5 |   (na) |  5 |  163.9 |  164.9 |   (na) |
|  6 |  163.1 |  163.4 |   (na) |  7 |  160.2 |  161.1 |   (na) |
-----------------------------------------------------
Totals:   1303.5 1309.2   (na) H/s
Highest:  1323.8 H/s

When reading about other people's benchmarks they are all typically like 280 to 350 H/s. Is that per core or thread? If so, it seems like I am hashing way too slow.

You can't go wrong with XMG. Been around for years with a strong community and price is going up nicely.

You can mine DERO.
New concept, Smart contract + Cryptonote protocol true privacy.

New DERO pool with lowest fees and lowest payout threshold currently:

CPU mining the simplest, you can mine only cryptonote coins like xmr aeon bytecoin xdn etn.
Research and select yourself what of them have potential, download claymore miner select pool and start

Thanks. You mean cryptonight right? I am punching it into whattomine and most coins are a little bit profitable. I don't mind if it takes 2 years to ROI without appreciation. My Celerons and Pentiums don't do squat so they cost more in the long run and their resale value is crappy.

I will probably do something like ETN or BCN.

Hi. I am pretty new to CPU mining (have been mining GPU coins for awhile). I decided to outfit one of my rigs with a 7700K and do a bit of CPU mining for kicks. Nicehash estimated that it could make $22 a month or something like that. I don't care too much about immediate profits since my GPUs do most of the grunt work but I like the idea of hedging a little and using the CPU to mine something with some good potential to increase in value in the future.

Any suggestions? I was toying with HODL or XMG but like I said, I don't know much about CPU mining yet.

Thanks
