If you feel a feedback send by someone which isn't valid then you can create a thread regarding it and invite people for public discussions because I don't think PM will work with that case.Or else you just ingore the person from your trust list since you feel that they are not giving valid feedbacks then they have no reason to be on your trust network.
But what about PM for asking the causes of feedback. I think there is no need to open a thread if a better solution can be found through the message. Actually it is depending on situation.
I won't do that unless the feedback is about me because its like unnecessary PM in my opinion but if that happens in a public discussion then it maybe useful for the same kind of scenario if it happens in future.

It really depends on the situation, the outcome would be different in different circumstances. Since you are writing about other's feedback, PM should send by tagged user. You would send PM if the feedback sender is on your custom trust network. If the sender does not agree to review feedback then two actions would be appropriate from your end. First of all, you may leave counter feedback, doesn't matter you aren't a DT member. The second action would be to distrust him from your custom trust list. Any other action (like open reputation thread) should take by the feedback receiver.

If it's not showing up according to your custom trust list, I would say ignore the feedback. If someone from your trust list included them, first ask the feedback sender to review the feedback and if they don't act, ask the person who included the person from your trust list to exclude them by showing the wrong use of the feedback system. That's what I would do although I don't use custom trust list.

It's up to you how you handle trust related issues. It's not like this is some crazy scenario where you are going to wind up on the outs with the majority of the population. The joy of the system is to have a diverse pool of actions and consequences, loosely held together by community opinion

You can ~ someone based on a single action if you chose. Nothing wrong with that, if they've shown their judgement to be flawed. You can reach out to them and discuss it, if you feel comfortable doing so. Some people are receptive some will tell you to mind your own business. One consideration I take is the amount of feedback left in this case - if this one "mistake" makes up 10% of their total feedback, I weigh it differently.

Really just make a decision and go with it. Worst case scenario is people don't like it and you can reverse course if you agree.

Personally in the past I have ~ based on a single action or many. Some of these people have reached out where others have ignored it; they either didn't care or don't pay enough attention to the system to see who has done this to them.

don't ask me about which feedback I'm talking.
yes, you said it was strange thread, it is true, you asked very strange.
So, how do we know if the feedback is valid or not, you say we shouldn't ask and you don't want to tell the feedback you mean.
Your question is like a dream while sleeping, "I met that person in a dream, but I don't know who it is, it's weird isn't it".

What would you do in such a case?
I will ask the DT member, which is aimed, on what basis are you giving me invalid feedback, of course I will provide valid evidence, to refute all that.

Here is what I will do.

If this is a member who I trust (they are in my trust list) then I will PM them and will say hey, maybe you want to review the feedback you left. I may explain to them the reason.

If they are not in my trust list then I will go through his feedback left history and will review a few feedback they left. If this turns out that most of the feedback left by them are fairly valid then I will just PM them and will tell the same I would tell the first group of users.

In both case I will not distrust the user even if they do not take the same action that I thought but I will follow them closely for few weeks. If they do the same mistake then I will distrust them.

If the uses is already in my distrust list then I would not bother to communicate with them at all.

Isn't there a rule that trust is not moderated? If you do not agree with the tag, and also do not want to reveal the name of this person, you just have to choose the tilde.

Otherwise, if you really prove to be right, and the tag put by a member of the DT is unfair, then if his name is announced, a different outcome of the situation is possible. I will not search for the original message from Theymos now, but it was said that this person, with the wrong behavior, can leave the place of DT forever.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But with the fact that trust must be approached very carefully so as not to spoil anyone's reputation, this is absolutely correct.

Should I ask the DT member to review the feedback?

This.

Why you did not post here on which feedback you talking, here you can get more opinions and you will be sure are you right.

Only if a PM doesn't work. There is no need to discuss it publicly if it can be resolved by talking directly to the person. Also...

don't ask me about which feedback I'm talking

Add this user to your ~list means nothing, except to you. You will not see this tag, but neg rating still exists until it is this user DT selected.

Yeah if it's just one, why not message them and ask why. If it were a pattern of bad feedbacks, then maybe wielding the tilde would be fine.

I have seen one feedback sent to another user by a DT member which in my opinion isn't valid. I don't have that DT member in my trust list, however, I didn't like that feedback.
Should I ask the DT member to review the feedback? Or simply I should ~ that DT member in my trust list although I don't want to do that.
This thread is weird I know but I'm confused what should I do. Take this thread in general, don't ask me about which feedback I'm talking. What would you do in such a case?
