I'm pretty sure the Chinese government has tried to regulate their citizens money as much as they can for as long as ever. They are still communist… and for as long as I can remember, Chinese citizens with new found wealth have forever tried to circumvent those regulations. Nothing too new.

First off...
CHINA BANNED DIGITAL CURRENCY LONG TIME AGO... i think around 2011??? not really sure...
but that digital currency was all about games like: WOW/RAGNAROK/DOTA/FINALFANTASY and etc... where a player earn/generate digital gold/money...
and Chinese people are botting or playing those games like crazy and generating TONS OF GOLD in those games and SELLING them for US DOLLARS...
Yes... CHINA BANNED THOSE DIGITAL CURRENCY..
and guess what... THOSE CHINESE PEOPLE doing those type of business... "ARE STILL IN BUSINESS TODAY"... they added in their list of games the famous "DIABLO 3" game from blizzard...
so if CHINA cannot stop those digital gold made via those games... I do not think they will be able to stop BITCOIN...
