MyBitcoin was also providing a shopping cart API for e-shops. Was it the first provider of this kind of service?
As far as I remember, Tom Williams said that site was hacked through the hole in shopping cart API.

The password you chose yourself, and yes you need to remember it.

Their Import/Export page lets you print out, or export clear text or encrypted backups of your wallet with all the information you need to access you coins from other clients if you wish to.

Just so that everyone knows, one important difference between blockchain.info and MyBitcoin is that blockchain.info can't run off with your money.

Was it perhaps a small car, maybe a type of car starting with a C? The plate could be something like "My Bitty Car". Probably has nothing to do with bitcoin.

As the name of it sounds (my)bitcoin - the owners goal was to claim every bitcoin in the world as his hence (my)bitcoin and ended up almost doing it. Bruce wagner (the owner of it) would eventually run off with btc booty and go to pataya to spend on booze and little boys it turns out.

It was a webwallet, I used it, it seemed to work just fine, until it suddenly disappeared (I luckily did not have any coins on it when this happened). There may be some old threads lying around detailing the situation, but essentially the guy claimed there was a security breach and somebody had made off with a large portion of the bitcoins. Most people who had bitcoin there never got any back.

And Bruce was the only that got his money back. But it was only 25K BTC at an exchange rate higher than it is today. The act of kindness did show that Tom Williams had a heart, but he quickly came to his senses and kept the rest on deposit. Shortly thereafter, Bruce and Ed went to Pattaya and made a many young boys very, very happy with their infamous three-prong attack.
