Do you really think a person or persons as intelligent as Satoshi Nakamoto will not use VPNs ...proxies ... firewalls.... Tor during their online activities? Satoshi Nakamoto and many of the first users of Bitcoin was very active in the Cypherpunks community, so they knew how to hide their tracks.  Wink

They also knew that previous attempt by private people to develop their own currencies ..failed, because people who did that, were arrested, so they had to hide their real identities. (Most of those logs were destroyed or never kept)

Knowing satoshi's ip address will not change anything in your life. believe me many have done this not one or two people. maybe hundreds of people. but what do they get? other than wasted time? but of course everyone is entitled to his own time. so please continue your research.

I love the anonymity of Satoshi. because its hidden identity is what makes bitcoin a special attraction.

The creation date of the email address can be found on the log of the email service providers. His identity is associated with his IP address. Did any researcher done any research to find Satoshi's IP Address ?
How will knowing satoshi's ip address help you?
I think it is time we allow the sleeping dog to lie in peace,  satoshi didn't want his face in the public or his identity known, why can't we just respect his decision and stop digging already?

Let's say for example, we find Satoshi's IP Address, then what next?
Or assume we are able to link an ID to the ip address used by satoshi, then what next?

I think it's time we stop chasing after who satoshi is and just enjoy his invention - Bitcoin.

all info anyone wants to know about satoshi is all available on this forum using the search function..

its free..
if you are soo lazy as to have not even done a search to find the theymos message that satoshi uses tor. then you are lazier then a snail in winter.

can you(bitcoin moses/digital monk) stop asking useless questions about bitcoin personalities and instead do your own research. actually try to use a search engine, do things for yourself for once.

then when you have a genuine question that has not been asked before and not been answered before .. then you should ask

if you want to earn money from some story you are building. actually put in the effort

When Satoshi Nakamoto created the P2P account in P2P Foundation and he created his email address: [email protected] and [email protected] he did not create it magically. He has to use his personal Computer and his computer were connected to the Internet from an IP Address. There must me an way to find out his IP address.

I don't think anyone would want anyone to do that researching satoshi's IP while it's just a waste of time, even though there used to be rumors of Mcafee knowing satoshi's identity but in fact it's still a mystery and it seems there is no need for people to know who satoshi is better just enjoy what he creates for all person

The only IP address you can get is 127.0.0.1 also known and local. In spite of the fact that we cannot obtain Satoshi's public IP address, there is a high likelihood that he uses VPN services to hide, even if we did have his IP address. This would be a person who has been anonymous for years and we have no information about his real identity, so it is impossible to determine if it is a single person or a group of people who knows how to hide himself and his IP address. However, I guess they have access to the IP address he used in the forum, but he won't divulge it to anyone, regardless of whether it is a valid IP address or not.

It doesn't matter one bit if you find out what his IP address was, because that wasn't his real IP.  Satoshi was a genius when it comes to being anonymous, and the guy who built bitcoin, solved double spending, etc sure as heck knows how to use a VPN and Tor and knows how to do so very well.

It would be amazing if Theymos did release his private messages, but I understand why he decided against it.

digitalmonk AKA bitcoinmoses is trying to not learn bitcoin..but instead learn about the people of bitcoin to try to put himself somewhere within them to fame himself up and then try selling some story about all the things he knows

such a shame he wastes his time. there are hundreds of people tying to sel stories already, or have blogs and patreon accounts trying to get money for telling stories about what they know.. and none of them are rich..

oh well bitcoinmoses will learn the hard way.

everyone can find out info by doing a free google search and no one buys a book these days.
also no one cares about someones story unless they can prove they are a worthy person of the early adopters to even think the stories are true..
might as well start a SCI-fi book about how aliens invaded your mom 9 months before your were born.. atleast sounds more realistic then the games of pretending you were one of the early adopters and you had some insider info..

Of course, everybody knows that since he was using a Windows machine to develop Bitcoin Core, he always had one fixed IP address he used to connect to Bitcoin: 127.0.0.1.

I did a little search and found this out
Thank you for your searching time. It is exactly the post I mentioned but I did not spend time to search it.

I'll probably release Satoshi's PMs and logged IPs addresses in ~8 years. This'd probably be of great historical interest.

2021 edit: I changed my mind: I am not going to release Satoshi's PMs in 2021. See my post here.
It matches with theymos' approach for other forum members too. If you search, you will find it too.

(Though he always used Tor, as far as I can tell.)[/b]

Because Satoshi Nakamoto always used Tor, it does not make sense to know Tor IP address used by Satoshi Nakamoto.

I think theymos has IP address used by Satoshi Nakamoto but the admin won't give that information if there is no valid request from police, governments.

I remembered I read that Satoshi Nakamoto always used Tor.

But later decided not to go through with it. If you are curious to know why then check this post.

We can not have IP address from Satoshi Nakamoto but publicly, you can have his posting timestamps

Forum members made some topics about that
The timestamps of Satoshi's posts
Was Satoshi from USA? (during 2009-2010)

I think theymos has IP address used by Satoshi Nakamoto but the admin won't give that information if there is no valid request from police, governments.

I remembered I read that Satoshi Nakamoto always used Tor.
