I know it probably has been asked and answered before. But seeing there is such a large spread between mt gox and say campbx, how difficult or easy would it be to buy on one and sell on the other?

Because you can't truly sell on Gox for real $$$ unless you're some kind of whale/insider.

Or live in Japan. To arbitrage, you must be in Japan or have a business partner who has Japanese bank accounts. Even then, you lose around $4 converting Yen into USD from Gox. So if the spread is $12, the spread is actually $8. That's $8 minus trading fees on 2 exchanges and minus two wire fees.

So, with the exchange differences being only around 5% right now, the profits margins are not huge.

Another arbitrage issue is that much of the current run-up is being driven by exchanges in China. But if you sell Bitcoins for yuan, it's hard to get the yuan out of the country or convert them into some other currency.  So you can't easily arbitrage between the yuan-only China exchanges and the ones in other currencies.

Unless you use the yuan to buy some  stuff and export them to your country and sell the stuff.
It is not easy, but could be don.

LOL ... smh ...

Dude,,,, you are just a day trader who sits at home and plays on etrade, and you discovered BTC ... am i right?

You don't even know the basics, like the guy said.

Im not a coder, programmer, geek, nor would I fit in with anyone on this forum socially .. but even I know that Gox isn't allowing USD withdrawals in the USA in any reasonable timeline.

You can't get dollars out of Mt Gox. Hence the spread.
