I will really take action on that. As a normal human being, one is expected to have plans for himself, his life not waste it on some entertainment all the time. Though, this is a free world, but you have limit to everything. The world needs your ideas, and that will only be achievable by not wasting your time on social media watching other people's achievement.

Yes social media had really affected the lives of many people and that alone had chose to follow that part and no more cares about what people thinks about them. It seems, this phenomenon has occurred in any part of the world along with increasingly sophisticated technological developments. we have all been spoiled by the sophistication of technology, everything we need can be served instantaneously, quickly and easily, and social media is no exception.
Talking about social media, we can conclude it into several parts. can be a negative habit, it can also be useful things. but in the end, it all depends on their respective use. to be honest, this phenomenon is not surprising, if many of our family members spend their time on social media. be it old, teenagers, even children. without us realizing it, the internet and social media have become a part that is difficult to separate. So, in the end it all comes back to each of us using it and how we react wisely when using social media.

You could create a social media group from which you assign and monitor tasks to the members of the family. So many things you do in real time you transfer them online. You create a group like family advice and counselling group. This might sound weird but it makes sense in actual sense. You cannot begin to decide for an adult on how to use the media. You can only decide for a child on how to use the social media and not an adult. This problem is facing almost every home due to the spread of modern technology and social media on a wide level all over the world.
Young boys can be controlled somewhat, but it becomes more difficult as they grow older to become young adults. Parental control is always obligatory, but you will not be able to prevent them from using social media by force.

Being a reasonable man and i noticed this abnormality with the family having much interest on the social media, i will try to introduce two approach to this challenge in other to turn the menace to a meaning, first is to create for them an avenue that they could also engage using the social media for education learning ground, and possibly introduce them to forum line this where they could learn and earn in future, this will contribute to their growth and avoid them from wasting time on unnecessary sites, secondly is to introduce them something that could always get them engaged on a busy hands, an idle hands is believed to be a devil's workshop, i will provide them an alternative activities or work that will always get them busy doing something.

Social media is a good modern technology where we all learn about some certain things and getting updates.
Family spending time on social media isn't a bad idea but it becomes a bad idea when it becomes a habit. I don't allow my family to spend much time on social media. I made it open to them how social media influences our lives negatively. Pornography is a good example, a young boy or a young girl who spend more time on social media watching pornography is more likely to be addicted to masturbation. And other internet frauds. I restricted my family from certain channels, i monitor what they do with their mobile phone. I advice them on a daily basis about the negative impact of much time on social media.

It depends on what they do on social media and the age bracket they fall into, in as much as social has disadvantage it also have an advantage. It's not all about spending much time on social media, but what quality things have you got to show forth that is worth deserving your time on the social media, if by profession or means of income you earn something from the social media and you get loads of information and taughts from the time it's consuming from you, but nevertheless there's always a need to make a balance whereby that does not affect your home or marriage and family affairs.
I don't think that being a professional Tiktoker makes things right. Most of this content is trash and I wouldn't be happy if my son was making a fool of himself by dancing on top of a moving car or launching fireworks from his ass, even if it paid him a million USD each year.
It can also be said about the way these people expose themselves and their families in the Internet. I wouldn't want my wife to vlog about our life. People are so desperate for attention these days, they film themselves pissing in the bathroom or drinking until they drop. That's what the crowd wants so that's what the crowd gets.

My family do spend a lot of time on social media. It’s just modern society, we adapt & conform to what everybody else is doing. Human beings are like primates, they just copy what the majority is doing. I think as long as you do have family & friend relationships then spending a lot of time online isn’t too much of a problem. Just don’t allow it to ruin those relationships & you should be OK.

Just don't do what other members of your family are doing if they are busy with social media, then don't join in on that and keep doing activities that can interact more with each other because usually if someone is too busy with social media activities because they don't have other activities besides that, if you can still do activities that have more interaction with other family members then there is a possibility they will start to get involved with your activities, but to be honest keeping someone away from social media activities currently very difficult because as long as the smartphone is in hand and connected to the internet everything is easy accessible and sometimes more enjoyable.

As the other members are saying, it depends on what their age is, if they're under 15 years old, you can just set a timer to limit them from using past midnight. Or, you can make use of that, maybe playing minecraft with your children or whatever they're doing, to have time with them.

This is true, it all depends on age. I live in a very poor country, and I can say that my parents have only learned to use smartphones and social media for the past 2 years. For my children, I always have a schedule for them when it's school time, when it's playtime, and when to watch the phone or TV...But for my parents, I want them to spend more time on their phones and the internet because 2/3 of their lives don't have them, now is the time for them to enjoy and get whatever they want.

Social media is a very good place to be, especially when your cashing out money from it. But when you're not using it to make money none for reading then one has to be caution about it. Members of my family are very enlightening and they know when to pause and be active on the Media. But the Young ones we set time and date for them to use the social Media.

Is simple to me, priorities in the family is very important. I guess they're not too engaged with other things because if you have engagement you may likely not have to much time for social media.

Be attentive and talkative to them. That's all you need to do to naturally remove them from that chain of being focused in social media. It really consumes a lot of time and they're thinking that attention in the social media is the most important thing. They're building the thought that social attention through these media is what's going to make them satisfied but no. It's just a way to have social validation from the rest of the world that's also part of that social media. If the strategy won't work, I agree to the suggestion to force of blocking all of those websites just to control them temporarily. But I am sure that someday they'll realize that their lives shouldn't just rotate through social media and they have to remove those toxins from being addicted on it. Detoxifying it through being inactive is what they'll have as a resort.

Social media has its benefits and disadvantages. There are some social media platforms that can enlighten thier users and make them get profitable information or knowledge. But the rate of social media addiction among mostly youths is becoming alarming. If your family members are below 16, it is important to monitor the way they access social media. If possible they should have restricted access to the internet.
The only way to reduce the rate of social media addiction among teenager that are above 16 is through education and awareness about the consequences of spending so much time on social media. This is because they can always look for ways to access these platforms even if you block these platforms in the router. They can be introduced to some other activities that can be beneficial such as learning a musical instruments or a new language.

The world has gone digital already, the use of social media has become a spec and entertaining, to me I don't see anything wrong with a family spending more time on social media, as they are doing it when they are less busy, we know there are so many disadvantages of social media though, but in the world today social media is really helping, even in times of education, life experience and etc,
Even some church activities are stream online on social media, as a person you can save yourself the stress of going to the church premises, you can just stay at home with your phone or laptop (social media) and attend church services..
I was really thinking this question would be centered to spending more time on our phones or labtop, because outside social media, there are a lots of achievement you can make with phone or labtop, so many firms or companies today mostly do their works with phones and labtop, because of the passing of information through Gmail and the companies WhatsApp group,
To me I don't see any thing wrong with my family spending more time on social media, as long they are using it for a positive purpose...

Spending all your time on social media is not good and it can be good only based on your achievement in social media because some people do use a social media interaction as part of exercise and also a relief of pens so social media is not a place where you can consume all your time so I believe that many people also know that but that one to say write about it

If they are 15 years above,I will let them be and only make sure that they are not misleaded by this social media activities and information. It is a free world and everybody needs freedom to do whatever they want..
like you said it all depends on their ages, but people that can spend more time on the social media, are the children and we their mothers, not the men of the house who their only focus should be on how to provide for their family, so if my husband talks to me about my time on social media and I see reason with him, I will have to reduce it, because I am old enough to know what is good and wrong, but for the children, I will be monitoring them and give them time that they can spend on the internet, and try to be talking to them to know the disadvantages of spending too much time on social media, and I will engage them in other activities so they will be occupied. This...is actually not a bad idea. There is very little upside to social media to begin with. Yes, it's unethical to restrict people's choice in what they can or can't do...but it's not hard to find and resolve the issue. It's a good problem solving task for them at best. Maybe they'll learn a thing or two. I wouldn't do it personally. I wouldn't say it's the worst idea though. The only impractical part of it is that I am sure mobile data will quickly substitute for re-access
