Both are good for long term investments but if I only choose one then it will be ethereum because I don't think bitcoin is profitable now if we hold for long term because the price is really high but ethereum can easily go up it can go double when bitcoin is increasing.

Simple question. Between BTC and ETH what would you want to load up on right now if you could only choose one?

Personally I'd go with ETH, but that's because I already have a lot more Bitcoin than ETH.
for me if i will choose one between bitcoin and ethereum , probably it would be  bitcoin, because its very promising than ethereum, although they're both making progress at the same time when there's an uptrend in the market. But for me bitcoin is the most optimistic and has the most fastest growth rate in the market as always.. Actually ethereum is good for long term as well but when it comes the good return it will be in bitcoin in my opinion..

If we need to choose only one then I'll go for bitcoin. Simply because its the primary crypto, has more users/investors, widely recognize and less risky compared to other altcoins. Though eth is a not bad a choice and really shows a significant growth as well during bullrun, a good coin indeed. Anyway its better to diversify our investment right? Thus there's no need to stick to just one, I also have eth and other alts in my portfolio but I prefer btc over them.

You can invest in Bitcoin without any afterthought. Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency and we are assured of the fact that it will survive as long as cryptocurrency exist. But the case with Ethereum is not like that. Even now it is facing a lot of competition from other chains such as Cardano and Binance Chain. And the very high transaction fee is not making things any easier. I would say that Ethereum, at current levels carry a lot of risk for long term investment. I would rather prefer Bitcoin.

It seems to me that investing in Ethereum for long term will be more profitable than Bitcoin. This is because the price of Ethereum is still likely to rise many times compared to Bitcoin. So now I will give more priority for Ethereum

Obviously I go with Bitcoin rather than ETH its because of the demand and value of btc we all know that we can use btc today to any transaction for example buying stuffs like food, clothes etc. also we can use it right now in any games that accepting btc as mode of payment. ETH is only second to bitcoin thats why I prefered bitcoin better than ETH and thats only my opinion.

Look for fresh new coins you can probably do 5X on one run or get rekt It's risky getting into new coins as they can pump and dump easily or even abandon the project completely so my advice seek wisely but the truth is fresh new gems are the way to go if you want good profits high risk but it you want low risk with just enough doughs then go for ETH I guess

What you choose depends on your tolerance to risks. IF you can’t put up with high volatility, you shouldn’t invest in altcoins as they can drop by 10 times, when Bitcoin drops by 3-5% what is quite normal.
I think that it is better to diversify and hold Ethereum, Bitcoin, some more fundamental altcoins and, for example, 10% of your capital you can invest in volatile altcoins.

Some people might choose ETH due to the fact that  it's very much cheaper than bitcoin and can fetch more profit than bitcoin because of it's price, but we all know bitcoin is always in the lead and determines the movement of other crypto, many people might also choose bitcoin because of risk ratio, bitcoin is less risky compared to ETH, if a crash comes in bitcoin might be affected a bit but eth would be more affected.

Well Raoul Pal had been shilling for ETH and I guess people believe it because the price is also running upwards. It's not just him because the institutions are also rooting for ETH. ETH ETF could even be approved first before BTC.

They are also shilling for the ETH use case because obviously, we can see how it's used as gas, and some disregard BTC because of it. Its blinding investors for BTC's decentralization which ETH is not.

If you already have Bitcoin, I think it's rational to choose ethereum as an alternative investment. I think the price of ethereum can reach $5000 if the market conditions are like this because apart from the Bitcoin price starting to recover above $40k, the price of ethereum itself is starting to look strong

Actually my opinion is also a Ethereum. Only experience traders will know the fact, the supply of the ethereum is low and demand is high. miracles.
I like Ethereum but you're wrong about saying that Ethereum's supply is low. In fact, Ethereum got 117M supply and with the London hard fork, it's burning those some ethereums that's being paid for each transaction.

The price just now reached 3000$ and it will reach the value of 5k dollars in few months.Hold your ethereum. It will rock your life with some miracles.
We hope that happens and for sure Ethereum will reach $5k anytime soon. I've been holding some and sold some which found myself realizing that I'm a bit disappointed but that's how it goes when you've sold early yet it's still a profit.

Look at this:

https://www.binance.com/en/trade/ETH_USDT

https://www.binance.com/en/trade/ETH_BTC

https://www.binance.com/en/trade/BTC_USDT

BTC = $44.218

ETH = $3.239

This is where you need to evaluate:

1 - the price of bitcoin when it increases a lot, causes the price of altcoins in relation to bitcoin to drop temporarily

2 - the price of bitcoin when it starts to fall a lot due to the bear market makes the price of altcoins in relation to bitcoin start to fall a lot too

the current price of ETH is 0.068367 but it can go up to 0.08 and if the bitcoin price is $60.000 then the price of ETH could be $4300 if we add these last things that are putting in the ETH then we could say that at the moment put money on ETH might be a good idea

both have the opportunity to profit from long-term investments. Bitcoin and Ethereum are 2 potential coins that have a bright future. but if asked to choose one of the two then I would prefer Bitcoin because Bitcoin is more certain, and we can see that from the early history of creation until now. bitcoin every year has an increase.

Bitcoin is GOD
Eth is Good move man , during the last run , I had put 100$ in each and the 100$ in Bitcoin would move so slow BECAUSE of how massive it’s already been, so I’d make a 35$ profit because BTC was already too huge ,
Meanwhile,
The same 100$ from ETH was giving me 80$ , because of how smaller it is , so in my opinion you’ll make more money watching ETH grow than from BTC ,
It is obvious that ethereum is going to be more volatile than bitcoin simply because in terms of market cap it is the smaller coin out of the two, however we need to remember that the volatility not only plays in your favor but it can play against you as well and this means that if you select the wrong time to invest in ethereum then you are bound to get incredible losses.

This is one of several reasons why I prefer bitcoin, besides if you are really thinking in investing in any of those two coins for the long term then it is obvious that bitcoin is the best choice as I'm not so sure that ethereum is going to be around for another decade.

What would I choose Bitcoin to hold in the long run. I like Bitcoin a lot better than Ethereum. One thing I can see is that if the price of Bitcoin goes up, the price of all coins goes up. When the price of Bitcoin goes down, the price of all coins goes down. And now I hold Bitcoin. That's why Bitcoin is so popular with me from different angles.

Actually, you don't need to bother choosing which one of the two, because both are very potential with great market power and confidence. I often collect eth from bounty rewards, yes... we all know that most projects are built on the ethereum network, so I often collect eth for gas fees as well as assets. So when the gas price increased some time ago, I wasn't worried because I also got it at a low price before yesterday's little bullrun. btc is also full of surprises, so it can't be missed. isn't there an option to choose both? without a doubt and without thinking I will choose bitcoin because in my opinion bitcoin dominates the market more than ethereum and the most common reason because bitcoin is king

I have the same thoughts as you, that after all Bitcoin is the best, it can't be compared with any coins. From the first time entering the market
until now Bitcoin has always dominated the market, meaning that investors trust in Bitcoin is very high. So even if I had to choose between
Bitcoin and Ethereum for a long-term investment, I would without a doubt choose Bitcoin.

I would buy the both although it would be more of BTC than ETH, they are both good coins which will definitely give profit in the long run, btc isn't going to step down for eth and eth won't step down for any other alts, so instead of investing in one of them alone, I'd pick both of them and make profit off them, I would also invest in Near since it has so much potentials just like Ethereum, although it's even much better than the ETH 2.0.

Ethereum seems more logical to buy to me right now. Because it's been on a huge rise for some time. It's like Ethereum is already in a bull run. The price is already over $2.8k now. And it is very likely we see $3k soon. The ATH was $4.3k and this is not an unbreakable record for Ethereum in the long run. I expect a price even over $10k in the future.

I would choose Ethereum and here is the reason why. Bitcoin is not developing now, we all know it as the first crypto and as crypto with the biggest market cap, but ethereum is completely another thing, A lot of defi projects appear there, and now we all wait for the launch of Ethereum 2.0. Developers try to improve their product and it is noticeable and very valuable. The other day, there was a London Hard fork as an example.

Bitcoin is best for the long term as long as the total Ethereum Supply is unlimited. Although the business model between these two coins is different, it is even superior to Ethereum. But people think more about ROI for the long term, where for this problem the existence of Bitcoin is highly favored because it has very strong fundamentals, even being a cryptocurrency icon is very influential on Bitcoin's position in the eyes of investors.

I stumble similar poll and question and the majority voted for Bitcoin, now the gap is not wide anymore, Ethereum and other coins like Binance are getting closer and Bitcoin dominance is getting lesser, for me, I like Bitcoin and Ethereum, these are the top 2 coins in the market and will always control the market, prices always follow what Bitcoin price dictates, whatever you prefer to invest for a long term, you need to have both in your portfolio.

I'll choose to have more bitcoin since I don't have much bitcoin. I'd be okay to sacrifice to have lesser ETH and to have more bitcoin. But well, these two really have the connection when the other one spikes, the other one goes up too. Ethereum is going to have its continuous burning and staking while for bitcoin, halving every four years. I'll go with the popular halving as it's really giving more value to bitcoin but with Ethereum's change, it's also going to boost its price very soon. Well, since it's just an if I can choose one but there's no need for me to choose any of them as I'll take both of them.

There are also many good news for Bitcoin, such as:
Google allows Bitcoin advertising (should be cryptocurrency advertising)
El Salvador sets Bitcoin as legal tender
Uruguayan legislators propose bill to treat cryptocurrency as legal tender
Ukraine's roadmap for adopting cryptocurrency
All of these will cause the price of Bitcoin to rise, and it will also cause Bitcoin to become more and more valuable.

Personally I would choose Bitcoin. As it is the currency with the biggest market cap and the most reliable to my mind.
Biggest marketcap could be the external measurement what most people usually do bother but I suggest to look into ROI and how consistently we could make that. Bitcoin must be continuously performing asset hence choosing it over all other coins and tokens will definitely disappoint any investor in long run.

Either choice is a good investment. I prefer BTC because it is what I earn the most and I would not like to be constantly exchanging to ETH and every time I want to make a transfer I would lose a lot in fees. I'd rather just accumulate as much BTC as possible and hodl it.
You are contradicting yourself or you are not having one proper goal. I guess you must alter your investment approach like 60-80% in bitcoin and the rest for ethereum. This way you may have both but the highly performing one in more percentage.

It's right. Bitcoin already has a high price and each next doubling in price will be more problematic than the previous ones. Therefore, I believe that the risk of investing in it is increasing.
On the other hand, the ethereum network is currently being updated and soon this coin will be much more efficient than before in every respect. Therefore, I am choosing ethereum now. This coin is expected to rise in value several times soon. For Bitcoin, this is already much more difficult to do.

The update of ETH definitely made a lot of users buy it and especially institutions. Many are saying that Vitalik will have less influence on ETh after this but it's really unsure whether the update made ETH decentralized. I'm still going to choose BTC because we all know this is more censorship-resistant.  ETH having a deflationary monetary policy is certainly attractive though.

I will buy both of them but only make one have higher percentage than the other, since eth market cap not as high as btc and the price is much cheaper compare to btc, I will buy 60% eth and 40% btc, eth will give higher returns more than what btc will give, if there is a possibility eth can grow to $10,000 each that will be a very reasonable price as against it's current price, between eth has lots of room to grow in future.

if I personally would definitely choose Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is the king of all cryptocurrencies, so it is definitely safe to be used as a long-term investment and of course the price will definitely continue to increase very high (create a new ATH price), then of course Bitcoin will definitely still be ranked 1 on coinmarketcap and will become the most popular of all cryptocurrencies, therefore I believe to invest in Bitcoin for the long term, because I will definitely be able to get a lot of profit from investing in Bitcoin.

Everything depends on your personal circumstances, without taking into account those circumstances then it is very easy for me to say that we should always get more bitcoin as it is without a doubt the best coin out of the two and the one that has a higher potential to keep growing as institutional investors are very interested in it.

However as it is in your case you already have enough bitcoin then it is not a bad idea to get some more ethereum, you just need to be careful because if the price goes down again then ethereum is going to crash way harder than bitcoin producing more losses for you, and that is something that no one wants.

I vote for Ethereum, but in general it's pretty silly to split the portfolio into one coin.
Bitcoin is the flagship and Ethereum is also, both of which show great profit in the distance. In addition, Ethereum can now greatly change and increase its performance in value.
Diversify your portfolio, don't bet on one coin.

why should you choose one when you can get both. both bitcoin and eth I think will dominate in the future, because as we all know that bitcoin even has a lot of fud and that causes the bitcoin price to be not good to see for the past few weeks but no one doubts the volatility of this coin and more and more news negative consciously or not bitcoin will become more and more famous.
On the other hand, eth is now starting with eth 2.0 and is now a hardfork that is being discussed among altcoin lovers who are predicted to reduce gas emissions. I don't think this can be seen with one eye because with this I believe it will be a turning point for eth to climb up and there is no doubt that eth in the future will definitely have more fans.
if we look at this as long as we can adopt both why do we bother to choose one because I really believe in the future eth and btc will be very good coinsw

C'mon no, I will not disrespect ethereum, this is mitochondria of alt-coins cells, one of the alt-coin I first get before any out there, but the question placed them side by side is a selection pick, I know this won't come to reality, but it would be Bitcoin if it was between Bitcoin and ethereum, crypto-currency has hall of fame slots for the two, now and in the future, so I do not think any of them won't be on the roaster when calling digital asset coins in crypto-currency.

The answer will always be Bitcoin there will be no time that Ethereum will be worth holding for a longer time than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the best reserve currency and gives the best prospects of holding it for longer. Currently bitcoin is gold, and ETH is a platform. For long time investing i think bitcoin is still gonna be strong because many people are hold it and the supply is limited. But investing on ETH is quite not bad also, as long as we watch the news of cryptocurrency and always keep up to date with any ETH information from their official, so we could make some decision if something bad happen

^  I’m talking about the recent run of the market as of late.  Check out BTC’s chart with ETH’s chart.  It’s pretty obvious ETH is breaking out while BTC is being sold down by who knows who taking everything down with it.

But it looks like ETH is having a good run rn after the hard fork and it seems to be somehwhat carrying BTC with it too.  But really..  I still want to see a decoupling with the whole market rallying behind ETH.  And BTC can be in red for as long as it wants.  Lol.

If you're hoping alts all go to the moon you've got stuff to figure out haha. 99%+ of alts are shitcoins that will never have any use besides trading, or are experimental coins in a sea of experimental coins that may never amount to anything or may get a year in the sun and then be overtaken by newer coins. Bitcoin is the base money of crypto, there is a reason everything follows Bitcoin. Bitcoin doesn't spoil the rallies of the rest of the market, it literally creates the rally in the first place.

Bitcoin brings in the people and the money, and to a far lesser extend Ethereum does so as well now, and then once people get into Bitcoin and Ethereum they decide to spread their money around so tiny alts get pumped to high heaven with a little bit of inflowing money. Bitcoin doesn't spoil their rallies, it literally creates their rallies. Most alts are in the long term worthless and heading towards zero against Bitcoin. "take most alts with it to the moon" is not something you should ever be counting on or hoping for. If you are that means you are way over exposed on shitcoins.

Personally I'd go with ETH, but that's because I already have a lot more Bitcoin than ETH.
Your reason is not making any sense; what you are already having cannot be a criteria to decide where you will invest further. If are investing into something else for the reason of diversification then that could be a different case but ignoring the growth rate and investing into other things just because of already holding in more number definitely a naive decision.

You sound like you are speculating both BTC and ETH are having same level of ROI in coming times but I expect ETH may become like how litecoin is doing right now due to evaluation of another coin. So, having BTC in more number is always recommended.

Of course it makes sense, it's not naive, the naive decision would be to not take into account what I already own. If I had 100 Bitcoin and 1 Ether obviously that would play into my calculations differently than if I had 500 Ether and 1 Bitcoin. What you are saying only makes sense if you know the future and know which could will grow the most, and obviously nobody knows that. I have no idea which will grow more from here on out. I know my portfolio is significantly skewed toward Bitcoin (which is perfectly fine), and I can have extremely high confidence that both will grow immensely in the future, thus I can make a decision from those two things.

I have a good amount of ETH but I have a ton of Bitcoin. So if I could only chose one I would pad out my Ethereum holdings because they are significantly less than what I have in Bitcoin (in dollar value at the moment my BTC:ETH ratio is just under 8:1), so I could better take advantage of the growth of the smart contract world. Right now I'm already very strongly taking advantage of the growth of Bitcoin as a global store of value but taking less advantage of the growth of the smart contract world, so if I could only choose one I'd go with increasing my ability to take advantage of the smart contract world because that is where my portfolio is lacking right now.

Ethereum is preferred over bitcoin. The price of bitcoin have gone high, and I find the price of ethereum to be affordable to buy it as a whole.
Wait. Are you saying that you think Ethereum is more "affordable" because it's unit price is lower? That buying one "whole" Ethereum is cheaper?

Also from various predictions ethereum is said to touch atleast $17800 within the next five years time.

I prefer to buy both bitcoin and ethereum. Maybe the portion will be bitcoin for 65% and ethereum will be 35%. When the bitcoin price increase, the ethereum price will have a chance to increase and that means I can make double profit from bitcoin and ethereum. I give a bigger portion in bitcoin because I believe that bitcoin can increase and will be back to the last ATH and have a new ATH this year or next year.

While ethereum can be a secondary investment that can give the other profit to me. If ethereum can increase more than the last ATH, that will bring another bigger profit for the investors but that will not happen in a short time unless the bitcoin price can rise so high.

Simple question. Between BTC and ETH what would you want to load up on right now if you could only choose one?

Personally I'd go with ETH, but that's because I already have a lot more Bitcoin than ETH.

Ethereum will never be able to hit a price level that is close to Bitcoin, due to the lack of scarcity.
What's the point of choosing between BTC and ETH,since both the BTC and ETH price follow the same pattern? I would rather choose 100% Bitcoin or a combination between BTC and ETH.
If we try to ignore the technological difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum and focus only on prices and profit margins,I don't see anything that makes Ethereum better than Bitcoin.I don't want to discuss all the DeFI,ICOs,smart contracts, which are built on top of ETH.They all have pros and cons and the pros aren't more than the cons.

Ethereum is preferred over bitcoin. The price of bitcoin have gone high, and I find the price of ethereum to be affordable to buy it as a whole. Also from various predictions ethereum is said to touch atleast $17800 within the next five years time. This is something big out of an investment. This makes me prioritise ethereum over bitcoin. For short term and regular trading purpose bitcoin is the right choice.
4 years ago,I remember some people said that Ethereum will hit 10K-15K USD in the next 5 years.
They were wrong. This is clearly a bold statement and a speculation.

For now I'd go with ETH since there are so many things I can use on it especially I am playing Axie Infinity right now and this game is the reason why I mostly transact on ETH also its kinda cheap compare with bitcoin so no wonder that we can see more from it as ETH had a lot of potential to rise up more in future. I'm not saying bitcoin is not good but if we talk about how huge the usage I can say ETH is kinda useful for now(This is my opinion only).

I would invest in both, there is no complete bitcoin or ethereum like scenario for me. I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket and I like to diversify my investments.
I can't risk to loose it all when it comes to investment and play it safe, while investing in both bitcoin and ethereum, I am limiting the risk of loosing money in case my investment experience bearish trend. While riding both the boats(ethereum and bitcoin) I can guarantee that I will be making decent amount of profit in the long run.

I'd probably stick with both if I can. If I was forced to pick between the two though I'd probably go for BTC. ETH seems like a nice investment to go on to but I'd prefer Bitcoin all the way since I've had my fair share of experience with it. I've used ether for my transactions here and there but it hasn't really stuck with me whether I should split my currently low monthly investment into both portfolios, doens't seem worth it so I'm sticking to one till I can manage to increase my monthly investment or till I get a pretty satisfactory amount in BTC (which would take a long time I think).
But that means that you will have reduced profit overtime since you are going to invest in both unless you have a lot of money to get both and profit big time in both then you can just go for it. Although, I think that you can still profit big in the long-term if you accumulate bitcoin and eth along the way.

I will go for bitcoin and Bitcoin and nothing more than a stable coin, I like a coin that shows complete decentralization, not all coins are completely decentralized, only Bitcoin is the coin I know to be decentralized and not controlled in any way. That is why I will prefer it, but it is not bad if go for ethereum but ethereum is never my type when bitcoin and a stable coin can give me all what I want, bitcoin is most suitable for holding.

I want to pick one but for me I rather have both cause we dont know which one will be dominant on the future and Im sure either of these two is a good pick especially eth which has been used a lot lately due to the nft hype. Minting nft on eyh network is something most traders are being hyped now.

I love both coin and Im gonna accumulate slowly these two monster cryptocurrency project.

BTC

I don't buy Ethereum because of ideology. It's a centralized shitcoin, huge premine, Vitalik's ethics are questionable, much of it runs on Infura, so when it goes down Ethereum doesn't work. Unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum's blockchain can be reversed, as it happened in 2016.

Also Ethereum Developer Vitalik Buterin Sold 25% Of His Coins

Compare that to Satoshi.

Ethereum is a shitcoin with quite a bit of strength that looks like it can deliver good returns just like some other shitcoins will but I prefer to focus on supporting a decentralized, autonomous, irreversible system that is limited in nature (deflationary).

Bitcoin is my choice, but I would consider buying ETH if the price is below $2,000 or $1,500 because that will be a good price to buy as many ETH as I can. But bitcoin is the main coin that I am willing to buy as I believe that the price will rise more than ETH.

The other reason why I choose bitcoin is that bitcoin still leads the crypto market. It would be a good time to buy more bitcoin because ETH still holds the price not to go down for deep.

Bitcoin prices can be either considered as underpriced, or at the right valuation. But with a market cap of >$300 billion, the same can't be said about Ethereum. ETH is facing a lot of competition from other chains, and users are not happy with the delays, security issues and very high transaction fees. The long term outlook definitely looks bleak for Ethereum, no matter what it's developers want us to believe. ETH 2.0 rollout was also a gigantic flop. Ethereum's time is up and it's no.2 position is under serious threat.

You are answering your own question with a different basis than I thought. I was thinking you would choose based on their features, potentials, future adoption, etc. But of course it also matters that you want to diversify a bit your crypto portfolio.

If I were to choose between the two, I would choose Bitcoin. But just like you, I don't want to simply choose one between Bitcoin and Ethereum. I believe these two projects have a long way to go and I don't want to miss the day when BTC and ETH become more precious than they are today.

Surely bitcoin would be my first choise without any doubt. I cannot put any other altcoin infront of bitcoin because it the root of all the other cryptos and no other coin is going to overtake it ever. Yes ethereum is the second best coin but bitcoin will always be on top .

Interesting question, I don't use Ether at all, however, in saying that I've found myself buying a few Tokens recently and have found myself in need of ETH, so I've bought a few hundred dollars worth to fund transfers (and the purchase) via online sites.

Ooverall as an investment, I'm leaning towards bitcoin simply because that's the bulk of my holdings.

It's just going to really depend on your risk appetite. ETH has higher potential price increase due to the albeit low-key "dangerous" development, whereas BTC simply has the best risk:reward ratio as an investment.

Personally, why not both? You really don't need to stick to one asset. But if you'd put a gun to my head and make me choose one, I'd go with BTC.

For me i would choose Bitcoin rather than Ethereum, because any other crypto even Ethereum is relying on Bitcoin stands on the market, if Bitcoin will fall any other crypto will fall also, that's why i must prefer Bitcoin rather than Ethereum.

All I have eth for at the moment is to pay gas for things like usdt. I have a feeling the eth price will drop when the staked eth are released and eth will likely drop anyway over the next few months if bitcoin strengthens - as I'm thinking it will.
