I asked this same questions 2 years ago during Thanksgiving figuring 4 days of closed banks would bring the price down quite a bit.

The price ended up going up.

what is the effect?

Banks are closed, more difficult to buy BTC = It goes up?

or

Holidays incoming + Black Friday, people cash out BTC so they can purchase stuff (Playstation 4 and other shit for Black Fri or Xmas day)?

Take note, also people are probably going to be too busy visiting family or flying around or what not? So, probably lower volume?

With all things equal (no other big news), what would the effect be?

It will go up!

There are many countries around the world that pay a 13th salary at Xmas or January to coincide with Xmas and Chinese New Year.
In some countries it is law to make this payment, and as such a lot of Asians will suddenly have double their normal disposable income.

I remember my first Christmas in Bitcoin-land.  I figured the price would take a hit due to large selloffs as people sold their BTC stash to buy gifts...then the price went up instead and my first major prediction on BTC market movement was dead wrong.
