Well, my question is what newcomers should write to be guaranteed to receive Merit. The specifics are of interest, as I understand not every post, even if it is very good, will receive Merit.

From my thought, if you want to receive some or more of merit you have to bring something new information in the forum but its still on-topic with the forum discussion. In your post must have quality and useful if you don't have both of them I think your post only will going to the trashcan. And another people like your post, I think its the important thing to get merit if another member doesn't like your post it impossible to get a merit.

Sorry for my bad english, and correct me if I'm wrong

The merit system has definitely raised the bars for everyone who is the part of the forum . But it has also affected a lot of newbies and members who joined the forum for the purpose of writing some good quality posts and earning something out of it . The main concern here is that there are a lot less no. of members who actually give a merit to newbies for some quality posts considering that the post is posted by just a " newbie" .
In this case the newbie is left with nothing but to wait for some good responses . Another way that is left is to agree with the point of the high ranked members in some post to attain some merits , but that would again not lead to enrich the quality of the forum.

no requirements, they like your post, you get merit, if no, you don't.
no quality post, no constructive
I very agree with your opinion
not all good posts can get merit, if the reader does not like posts that are made, even if the post is useful then it will not get merit.
I do not like this system at all  Angry

Theres no way to guarantee merits on your posts, just make helpful meaningful posts and keep doing it.

This is your first post here and you have already figured out how to succeed with the merit system. Looks suspicious to me and this can be an alt account.

They say writing a quality post will attract others to give you merit, but most often it doesn't happen, one thing I know is you just have to be you, post on threads that you know you can answer well, post naturally and no need to push yourself too much. Someone will give you one soon.

You are right that sometimes your good posts will not get recognized as there is so much of competition. The solution to this issue is that all your posts should be of high quality. Once some of your posts are noticed , members will start recognizing your efforts. They may check  the posts made by you in the past and merit you. Sometimes while making reply in a thread, I had merited posts which were made 5-6 days back.

I'm at this forum not so long ago, but after reading selected topics, recommended literature, I began to understand much more about crypto-currency issues. I am very interested in the topic of crypto currency! At first I participated only in airdrops, now I'm taking part in the bounty, I think I will also participate in the future in the ICO! But here the other day there is an unexpected ... Now in addition to the rank add another such addition merit. Having studied what it is, I concluded:
1. From now on the forum will be cleaner, the percentage of productive and useful messages will increase. This is a huge plus.
2. There will be fewer people who will have multiple accounts, because now one account is pumped up, then the problem is not that few. A plus.
3. Only the people who really want to improve and earn money will stay on the forum. To write the necessary content you need to have the knowledge and experience! A plus!
But there is one big but! What should a newcomer write such or such as I have with little experience in order to get bonuses in the form of Merit. And why do users with a higher rank just give their Merit, I'm the same competitor in the future. And then I will not be able to give anything in return, like the other newcomer. Logically, it's better to give your Merit to someone who can give you at least the same amount in return.
I think the majority will remain as it is at their ranks as now, and raise the rank will be a unit. There is certainly a hope that the forum administration will introduce some additional actions to obtain Merit.
Well, my question is what newcomers should write to be guaranteed to receive Merit. The specifics are of interest, as I understand not every post, even if it is very good, will receive Merit.

Definetly this your accusation now happen in merit system is true, that even those have a good disposition on  his post  can't receive merit, because the rule of this merit, not truly implemented, because i thinks the mean reason why should merit come out into there mind, to make this rule is  to hold those who make spamming the bitcoin community, and this merit system is working only into the
circle of  your friends, and not for the whole group of bitcoin talk community, this is only my speculation, why should merits system not working as a whole group in the community.

It is not true that only the members who want to earn money will only be here. There are a lot of people here for participating in discussions.

I was one of the members who joined here to know about the local exchanges in my country. That section is not much active here but there is  lot of information here to make use of. I am getting used to this forum and learning new things. I am yet to explore sections like alt coin discussion completely. Later, I came to know about signature campaigns and then applied for one. I think I am quite late to join this awesome place.

The point is not only what, but where. I have heard that some quality advices in Mining and Technology sections can bring you Merits fast, of course if the advice was helpful and professional. I do not have nothing with that, I'm just a girl, but maybe you can help to other people in this sense and earn some merits.

1. From now on the forum will be cleaner, the percentage of productive and useful messages will increase. This is a huge plus.

Yes, the forum will definitely be benefited by the merit system. Most of the members complaing about merit system are mentioning how it is bad for them, but what about this forum ?

2. There will be fewer people who will have multiple accounts, because now one account is pumped up, then the problem is not that few. A plus.

Yes, merit system will help in fighting against account farming as well. But those members who need multiple accounts to bump their threads will still continue as they do not need any merits in the profile to do that.

3. Only the people who really want to improve and earn money will stay on the forum. To write the necessary content you need to have the knowledge and experience! A plus!

It is not true that only the members who want to earn money will only be here. There are a lot of people here for participating in discussions.

the merit system shouldn't discourage users to share their view on things either. You make thing someone may not agree with your post? Do not worry it's not like down votes are a thing in this forum yet. As long as you are posting up to date relevant information and most importantly original content then you should expect to pickup merit points along the way. You shouldn't expect to gain several hundred merit points in a small time frame unless you have contributed greatly.

The merit system it working as a whole although it has caused a few little problems here and there like for instance many people are copy and pasting older topics or older replies and trying to pass them off as their own. This is quickly being regonised and dealt with either by defaulttrust or the moderators.

maybe what we should consider is a system where people who do not have merit can flag a post up for review by a merit source. I think this way merit sources wouldn't have to worry about finding posts actively and can rely on the rest of the community to find them and their job would only be to distribute them fairly.

this is a hacked account - this has been my account for 3 years but was hacked in Dec and now this hacker is using it

can you prove it? do you have a staked address you can sign a message from?

Wait, I think we have something here. I saw the exact same thing posted by another user in Decent Signature Campaign thread, here.

Here is that text:
Btctalk name: h0lybyte
Rank:  Hero member
Current post count:  1281
BTC Address:  3QahtLHGGMnyos3o4GfXW9fTiTCvh4WpSi
Wear appropriate signature:  yes
this is a hacked account - this has been my account for 4 years but was hacked in Oct and now this hacker is using it

And, both users have the same (with just name changes) Personal Text. Both accounts are probably being used by the same user, though I don't understand the reason behind these posts of claiming the accounts were his. If you check their post history, about 40% of their posts are on the same subject, and almost in the same wording.  Huh

P.S: Sorry for being off-topic.

Sorry I'm Newbie, in my opinion we need to write to get Merit. We have to post the answer in accordance with the question, and a little extra science, from the words must be sincere and noble. Everything we say should be meaningful especially to us and to people and give a little explanation about Bitcoin, and good motive. Sorry friends when my word is lacking.

Simply, you need to use your mind smartly and in a good way  Grin , and   I think  the most important thing is how to write  the best opinion in the right thread and everyone must give more effort and improve their opinions and ideas to obtain merit points.

But there is one big but! What should a newcomer write such or such as I have with little experience in order to get bonuses in the form of Merit.

There is no hurry. A newbie needs 60 activity to become a member. That is a lot of time to learn and to increase the knowledge provided the person is really wiling to do so. I have seen some new members making better quality posts than senior members.

And then I will not be able to give anything in return, like the other newcomer. Logically, it's better to give your Merit to someone who can give you at least the same amount in return.

That logic appears flawed to me. If that was true, no fresher would get job anywhere and we will have all the companies filled with old people who do not want to hire newcomers. When you give merit to a newcomers, he also gets corresponding number of Smerits which he can spend on posts of other members including yours.

This is quickly being regonised and dealt with either by defaulttrust or the moderators.

Those member copying posts and then posting them as their own do not last longer. Since the forum is very strict with this, permanent ban is issued to those members once they are caught. We should use the report to moderator option for such posts if we come across such posts. One more thing that can be done regarding this is that we should have a sticky thread containing information regarding all the members who were recently banned for copy pasting. This will be a warning for members who are planning to do the same.

It depends on the people who reads your article or your post. If they don't like your post then you won't give a merit even though you put hardwork on it. As easy as that, for what I am seeing the powerful in this forum is the one who has many sMerits and the weak one's are those who are putting effort on there post but not appreciated and not given by merits. Patience are the only thing to rank up here. Just try and try to post quality post and someday you just believe on your self you are going to have merit.

I think there are a few misconceptions on your post.

Only the people who really want to improve and earn money will stay on the forum.

I agree with that part that people who want to improve will stay on this forum, but I don't agree with the "make money part". I'm sure this was one of the reasons why the spam started in the first place. People start making post to reach a certain number criteria, and didn't really cared about having discussions with other users.

Logically, it's better to give your Merit to someone who can give you at least the same amount in return.

You are seeing merit as a form of exchange, and you should actually see it as a form of connecting with others. You give merit if you like what you've read. You should not be expecting to get merit back, because you gave merit to someone else. Don't look to merit as a coin.

Well, my question is what newcomers should write to be guaranteed to receive Merit.

Well just try to have a real discussion with users from this forum. Read their posts, and try to see what they are talking about, and participate in their conversation. Use this forum as a forum, and not as a way to get paid.

Basically stop thinking about getting merit, and you will probably start getting some without even knowing it.

Thank you for this balanced and considerate comment. This is the first post I found on the subject of merit that deserves merit points. A shame I don't have any to send to you! Well done.

People are saying that merit system abused and from all those examples that I saw it is really so. Good and constructive posts are not noticed, but simple ones are "liked" by several tens of people. It is illogical, but I actually do not care, to me if someone will merit my post it will mean that the person is agree with my opinion and that's it.
