Is there a new trick to unlock LHR graphic cards? There was a time when using a dummy hdmi works but that stopped working weeks ago I heard so any new trick around this low hashrate yet?
hdmi dummy still works on 470.05 nvidia driver, at least for my 3060s. there are some other requirements though (that are listed on other threads) needed for them to work.
If I'm not mistaken, this method works for version 1 of video cards. And for video cards that were sold after June this year, it is no longer there, because there is a different version of the video chip.
Therefore, before buying nvidia 3000 series video cards, you need to understand which video cards should not be purchased

I think they would rather go progpow than pos if a ludicrous amount of 10gb asics crushed the coin.

Although they could go pos.

One of the reasons why they don't want to switch the algo is because if they put in the time and effort to fork to a new algo it will make alot of ETH investors upset because "Why are you switching to a different POW algo when you said POS is almost here" and it will look bad for ETH future.

Many ETH investors were upset that they were wasting resources into developing and testing and auditing ProgPOW when that time and resources could of been spent on launching POS much earlier.

Hence unless there is going to be some potential 51% attack emergency, I don't think they will fork to any new algos since "POS is almost almost here".

Dummy hdmi plugs still works for other thing, if your rig only has rtx3060,3070, 3080 you must use the dummy hdmi to trick the cards into thinking that display is plugged in, and as a miner your display should come from Motherboard not GPU

So I am pretty sure they will never change their original DaggerHashimoto algo.

If they have not changed till this moment then forget, there was a big request when eth was around 100 usd, now that the eth price is 10 times higher than that, I'm sure they are not even thinking about that.

Coins have been dodging ASICs for years by changing algorithms. If Eth wanted to they could just
change the algorithm to bypass the Nvidia block, repeat when necessary.

LHR is really just a marketing gimmick to shift the blame to miners for the GPU shortage.

If ETH went the route and actually did a fork just to get LHR cards working again then I am pretty sure it would lose tons of its value. Remember when they were suppose to switch to ProgPOW to get rid of ASICs, remember all the controversy that was brought up, especially by the ETH maxis?

Then they spent all the money, did a hardware and software audit, which came out positive. Then they decided not to do ProgPOW anyways. Then they for some reason said they will include ProgPOW, then all of a sudden it was removed from their EIP.

So I am pretty sure they will never change their original DaggerHashimoto algo.

You don't have to mine Ethereum on these graphics cards. Other coins mine well.
Try to use this miner
https://miniz.ch/2021/07/10/miniz-v18y3-is-out/
Miners write about 39 megahashes for RTX 3060 video cards
I haven't heard any more news about the hashrate increase on the 3xxx series. The less time before the POS algorithm, the less sense it makes to look for new hacking methods.

I don't think it will be easy to hack the cards so you can mine at full speed. Nvidia probably has very tough security because they really don't want those GPUs in the hands of miners. I think if in the future there is some new algo, you might get lucky and mine at a decent speed however for ETH , I think its going to be very difficult.

Why did they do this? Well you would think Nvidia didn't care whether miners buy their GPUs or not. They make money anyways but the issue was the gamers. Gamers basically for months been complaining how they can't get their hands on GPUs to play Games and are forced to pay huge markups. And Nvidia's main source of customers are gamers and not miners. So this is why they went their way. I am sure in the future not all the GPUs will be LHR, I think its only now during the supply shock.

Just forget about ETH mining, those 3060 and 3070 are good for ravencoin, firo and ergo, find the one that's profitable to mine presently among this three and move on this is what I'm currently doing with my LHR GPUs

you might want to follow aschilling or videocardz. most of the time they cover some news regarding mining hacks (but not the guide or something similar). as far as i know, there is no new hack. you might want to dig on reddit or other mining forums.
