The deposit system in Bisq isn't attractive. I'll test Bisq later when I'm able to. UnstoppableSwap's app on Windows looks good it's a plain design. Their rates aren't top but they're rep is trusted so I'm going to swap on UnstoppableSwap tomorrow. I'll use Feather Wallet to receive XMR. It's going to be my first BTC to XMR swap.

Most secure way for exchanging BTC for XMR is with Bisq exchange, but rates can be higher and you need to deposit some Bitcoin before you can trade there.
You also need to install Bisq and you can run it only on your computer, there is no mobile version available (and they wont make it any time soon).
Unstoppableswap is also fine, but last time I checked it only worked for very small amount of coins.

When you're exchanging you're looking for top rates but what else's important before sending to instant swappers. Which instant swappers are you recommending?

Best fast option for me is currently eXch exchange (you can find the links in my signature).
They have one of the best prices and you will never be asked for any kyc verification or sending documents, because they don't use third party exchanges and you don't need to register anywhere.
Only thing I noticed is that sometimes they don't have enough XMR available, so you need to wait a bit longer for them to get it on their wallets.
I recommend using Onion link with Tor browser.

With P2P on decentralized exchanges (not centralized exchanges) you get better privacy but rates depend on the platform and the agreement between both parties.
It depends on the platform but it's acceptable getting lower rates for increased privacy I wouldn't have a problem.

Well, if privacy is your priority, I would recommend P2P platforms with end-to-end encryption like BISQ and robosats.
Thanks it's a new name so I'll look up robosats.

The best price and No KYC ain't possible, so you need to compromise one for another.
I'd compromise lower price for security. It's a risk ppl take getting funds frozen if they'll go for the best prices not checking risks involved. I'm putting privacy ahead.

Here is a site https://orangefren.com/ which you can use to compare the deals offered on different swap exchanges.
Thanks this one's helpful. Orangefren's rating from kycnot.me indicates swappers to use but any which can freeze funds isn't an option. Orangefren's 0.1 BTC capped Unstoppable for 17.13978178 XMR.FixedFloat's for 17.47379494 XMR so that's a surprise.

With that being said, my question is are you looking for more privacy or better rates or Huh
I've thought about this it's privacy. If I'm going to use Monero to study why it's a privacy coin the rate doesn't matter because I'm holding a small amount of bitcoin from my sig campaign. I'll want to swap some for XMR.

Although some people don't like them, and they are not instant I have been using https://tradeogre.com/exchange/XMR-BTC on and off for years and they never asked for more then an email address.
Thanks it's another new name to more learn about.

Does P2P mean you'll get better privacy & rates to online instant swappers every time? I'll check LocalMonero for rate comparison later but it's only allowing trades if you'll register so that isn't ideal for privacy. Unstoppable P2P's a good option but they haven't offered the best rates.

LocalMonero isn't a KYC exchange so you can sign up with just an email and you are ready to trade since you are doing crypto-to-crypto trade means no exchange of private details with another party like Bank details and others.

As others have pointed out you will probably never* get as good a rate doing an instant exchange vs a more traditional one.
Exchanges that have KYC are also probably not going to be as good a rate as others but as always YMMV.

The other option is use the forum with a disposable / alt account.
If you post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0 looking to trade you will probably find someone willing to do it.

Since you would be looking to be private you would more then likely have to go 1st since you would be using a fresh account. But, if the trade goes wrong you have the option of posting from your main account.

*Getting back to the 'never' get as good a rate, if you try long and hard enough you might, but then it begs the question of if it's worth the time to do it for an extra 1 or 2 %

The rates for Non-KYC P2P platforms are typically not as competitive compared to others. You could also say it's an additional price for better privacy.

I won't use Changelly or Changenow because KYC's one but complaints are another. I've downloaded Bisq. I didn't use it because it wanted a deposit before trading so I'll test Bisq BTC to XMR later.
Bisq is a great option if you want to maintain privacy.

I would recommend a service that states nothing like KYC in their terms of service, so for an instant exchange, unstoppableswap would top the list since it's open source while Exch.cx would follow since it's not open-source but still far better than Changelly and changenow which wouldn't even feature in my list due to their KYC policies.

BTW Kycnot.me can also help you make some decision, fees or rates aside (https://kycnot.me/search?q=&type=exchange&xmr=on)
Unstoppable's installed on my Windows so if privacy’s a big thing it’ll be covered. Swapping including KYC isn't an option so if the others want KYC I won't use them.

Changelly, Changenow have a long history of user complaints about exchange rates, delayed transfers, privacy issues, and sometimes fraud on some users. If you talk to the forum, you will find a lot of stories, so avoid them.

As long as you want to try the currency and enhance privacy, P2P is the solution where you can order here in the forum or in bisq or agoradesk

I will not recommend you to go with instant swap exchange since you are looking for privacy so better try using p2p exchanges which will have better deals than swap exchanges and also have no KYC platforms too.

You can check LocalMonero which has enough liquidity to convert a decent amount of BTC to XMR.

But there are some instant swaps that offer a good level of privacy as they don't require any KYC like Unstoppable and Exch.cx

You can check LocalMonero which has enough liquidity to convert a decent amount of BTC to XMR.
OP is specifically looking at instant swap exchanges.

I'm ready to trade a small amount of BTC to XMR to test Monero's system because it's supposed to be a privacy coin. I don't know what happens in functions which makes XMR private so I'm trying to learn. I've downloaded Bisq but didn't use it for my thread. For Win 11 I've used Unstoppable. Others were online instant exchanges Changelly, Changenow & Exch.cx.
