Use localbitcoins
If you are looking for purchasing a large amount, then you might as well use localbitcoins. Otherwise Circle is always a good option
It depends what you mean by a large amount and how much you are prepared to pump up the price while buying it. The chart below shows exchanges in order of volume. Most of the biggest volume exchanges are outside the US. Coinbase seems to have the biggest volume of US based exchanges.

Looking for a reasonable priced exchange to purchase a large amount I don't mind ID verfication but dont want to be waiting more than 3 days for them to verify it.
