I'm a US resident.  I'm planning on buying and holding so the fee is not that big of a deal.  I just need someone to take usd.

I had an issue with Coinbase verification and they are taking forever to get back with me.  I need some alternatives.  I live in the US.

I'm new to this so thanks in advance!
Coinbase is a nice place to go to if you are not a U.S resident. The developer of LTC used to work there.

It probably wouldnt be worth it, since you'd have to do wire transfers to exchanges that accept it, and the fee is pretty big (unless you're planning on buying a ton, then it gets negligible).

Another alternative would be buying Bitcoin through localbitcoins.com and then sending it to an exchange and trading it for the Litecoin you desire.

They sent me another "tide over email".   Just until they can get to my issue.

So I guess from my research that my only shot at using USD is via wire transfer to bitstamp or, kraken.  Binance only gives the option of using other cryptocurrencies.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the replies so far.  Bitfinex no longer deals with US customers.  I'll look into binance.

Please keep them coming.  I need all of the help I can get.

Another way is to buy thru https://localbitcoins.com/. Just transact with  reputable sellers only. If you have a doubt and you need high amount then you can make the transaction in person

But bitcoin then convert it into LTC using any crypto conversion service. https://www.shapeshift.io/

If you are in the US then it might be difficult for you to buy those litecoins, but i dont think that there are some regulations to litecoins in there.

Coinbase is never going to verificate your account, convince yourself about that, because it is never going to happen, at least not for now.

If you are in the US and you dont even have bitcoin on your wallet, then better to buy some on localbitcoins, then deposit that money on Cryptopia (it does not ask for a verification for withdrawing purposes) and buy those litecoins, and then transfer them out of there.

It is simple as that.

There are many exchange offices where you can directly buy litecoin for dollars. Install the litecoin purse on your computer and buy a coin for this address. If you want to trade, I would recommend the exchange binance.

Literally go to Litecoin on coinmarketcap see what exchange it trades for USD and see if that exchange will accept you. There must be 10+ exchanges that do this although I am not sure because I haven't looked. Have a look and see what you can find: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets. Good luck to you

Hi, but bitstamp can become an alternative way for you to buy LTC/USD pair. As far as i know that the bitstamp based in the US and that will be allow you to buy in there,
https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bitstamp/

My friends are using the bitstamp rather than coinbase. Coinbase has a difficult requirement. You can try to buy your ltc in the bitstamp exchange site. Bitfinex seems another choice too but i heard about it got ssome problem.

I tried to use debit and my bank put a fraud alert on the card during the verification process.  Cleared it with the bank and now coinbase wont add my card to the payment method.  I messaged support and they are swamped I guess.  They haven't got back to me.

I've considered Kraken as my next move if this goes into next week.  They do wire transfers from what I read.  I'm in the US.

Just wanted to see what all of the options were for US customers.  Like I said.. I'm new to this.

I have had a few friends that went through the same issues with coinbase recently. Here is a link to a thread on coinbase which explains the answer to your exact question..
https://www.coindesk.com/information/buy-litecoins/

I would advise using whatever exchange has the lowest fees and then pick which has other features that you find the most valuable for you specifically.

Create an account on Crypto Exchanges like Bitfinex or Binance. It is much faster to verify and buy crypto there. If you are a long term holder or investor withdraw your crypto to your hardware wallet. leaving your crypto in exchanges is very risky.

and why is it coinbase? There are many other exchanges, such as kraken, because here you can bring cash to the account
