Real price changes constantly. Bitcoin doesn't have one true price, bitcoin is mostly depends on what people think it worth and nothing else, some people think bitcoin is backed by the miners and the cost of mining is the true value but in reality we have seen that is not true quite recently.

Bitcoin mining cost was a lot more than current price but when price went down the miners stopped mining (some of them) and the difficulty dropped as well which made the mining cost a lot less. Hence we can see from that bitcoin cost is not the true price. It is only backed by people and people who think bitcoin worth a certain amount, sort of an agreement between buyers and sellers which changes constantly. As long as we do not turn into some sort of stable coin (impossible) price will keep on changing.
The price also depends on many factors, there have been cases of countries with economic problems that suddenly saw a shortage of bitcoin as the public began to buy many coins and suddenly the price went up really fast to the point we have seen the price of bitcoin more than double in those countries so despite the huge difference with the rest of the world that price was real as well.

Perhaps the site sends information about the cost of bitcoin with a delay, I will advise you to track the bitcoin exchange rate on the exchange or use the coinmarketcap service. Still you can download the coinbase wallet and install the widget for smartphones from will display the value of the coins that are in the top.

Currently we have BTC at $ 3,730 on cryptocompare (https://www.cryptocompare.com/)
And BTC at $3,674 on preev (http://preev.com/)

Which one is the most reliable? An average of the prices?
Bitcoin is just like any other thing in the world, if you want to to buy a car you will realize there are several prices for the very same model and the same is true for bitcoin, different exchanges have different prices at any given time and all of those prices are real, if you are a trader make sure to buy from the exchange that has the lowest value so you can buy more bitcoin.

Yeah most of the prices indicated in established exchanges are often reliable though they don't have the same price. Though i don't recommend buying from one exchange then selling on another. Fees would likely level the difference and you might lose a good opportunity while transfers are being done.

There is no such thing as real price, the real price depends on factors do you define it.
I believe that the most accurate price is that which is made of prices which are traded against usd and euro
People should stop predicting or asking question about what is the best price, bottom, high etc., but instead be more realistic in looking the possibilities that could happen on some levels of factors. Thus, they would know what will be the next step that they have to do.

Bitcoin prize is seriously fluctuating towards the crypto community, which has been the challenge over seven months now, Therefore you can only take a range in prize base on the current prize at $4,056.00 and it keep fluctuating up and down.
You are right on that since bitcoin has no fixed and stable price the best thing for us to do is to fix our mind on the present the different exchange put to us and try to work with that but to say the Truth for us to be thinking of bitcoin ever having a stable market it will be a day dreaming that may never come to reality.

Because of and stability in Bitcoin we don't have any fixed price to fix and buy or sell we can say any value it adapt to the value the next day are the yesterday so we can say any price it will suitable for Bitcoin.

Totally agree, it's just impossible to say what's the specific price

It seems that it will be difficult to be able to equalize the price of one another, it is clear they will determine the estimates according to and needs of themselves. because the calculation of each institution will be different, we live looking for the best for us and of course with the convenience obtained in exchange.

Coinmarketcap, cryptocompare, preev, coinlab show same time different prices any coin. I think they show it  average prices  on depending various exchanges. I believe it will be better to follow which exchanger you want to  use.

The price arent even far from each other. If you will look at exchanges you can also notice this difference that they dont have same price.

Any of them will do but I used to check it with preev and cmc, when you will convert it to fiat, the price varies and will depend to the exchange you will use.

Yes, you right! I agree with you, because the price of bitcoin is really depends on what exchanges site will you use  like other coins, sometimes you can buy it in low price in some specific exchange but there is different price in the other exchange sites.

Some exchanges are have different price each others sometimes. That's why arbitrage traders can get profit from that.
The price then will becoming same after the traders balanced the price across the exchanges.
Some exchanges may have very different price because it is either the withdrawal or deposit is not available on that exchange.

All these prices are displayed in fiat currencies and so i think its just simple, tabulate all of them from the various exchanges and find the average and you will be able to arrive at a fair value of how bitcoin is being sold as many of the exchanges prices aren't much different from the others and they all hover around a particular figure.

You shouldn't relay on those prices because they are just for some moments and ain't permanent. The price of $3k plus is just as a result of the dip but let's see from now to February if there will be a change in price then we could stick to it.. But still I don't it will go below $3k though.

ah love questions like this
the real p[rice is the price that is formed according to supply/demand principle
if you want to see the real price- go to any exchange and see it, as simple as that
if the price is too low, people will buy the asset, if it is too high at the moment, people will sell
any other insinuation about "real" or "unreal" price is pointless

I think that the Coinmarket site shows the real price for Bitcoin and it is precisely him that needs to be oriented
There is no such thing as real price for Bitcoin. It is a decentralized market/currency. Hence, there is no standard or any kind of organization that will determine the actual price of bitcoin. As far as I know, the price shown at coinmarket is just the average of the price of different well known exchange. Other places also determine the price using the average taken from different markets.
I think OP was trying to say about the real value of bitcoin.
If we thought it's oversold then there is a real value now based on its demand, but things like this is really hard to determine.
So let's just stick to the only gauge now which is the current value, whether it's a manipulated price or not.

How many cryptocurrency experts is there, so many answers to your question are.
In my opinion, the real price should be counted by how much enegry on average we need to mine 1 Bitcoin.
However, this also depending on the energy price in each country - so we will need to know avarage price of electricity in the world.

I think that real production cost. Every country have different cost because electricity tariff different in each country. If he mean is market price, better we looking on exchanger price. The problem is every exchanger have different price compare with others exchanger but the spread not too far.

The price of Bitcoin changes frequently. The reliable source for Bitcoin price is coinmarketcap but it is the average rate of Bitcoin. It fully depends in which exchanger you trade. Suppose if trade in Binance, so you have to rely on Binance price of Bitcoin. The difference of price among exchangers isn't far.

Btc price are very volatile in diffrent platform on exchanges you will see a diffrent price of bitcoin. It has nothing to do with the real price of bitcoin as it depend on demand on bitcoin.
since every minute the price of bitcoin is not stable or as what you have said it is volatile that's what there is no such stable price for it besides maybe if all the coins will be mine then i guess that's the time bitcoin is very expensive/priceless.

Well I never know bitcoin have differences in price and if it does it depends on the exchange you are using, the price is decentralized will have to work with the cause of production which is the cost of mining e.g the cost of electricity which most times differs from country to county.

The price of the Bitcoin are less only compare to last year and it's differences in the price also and it's depends on the exchange using only and it's based on the cause of production in the mining for example it's differ upon the places and country to.

I believe finding the average is the best way out here because many exchanges put out differing prices and its the reason why arbitrage investors make their money, some exchanges tend to reduce their price a little bit to attract investors and so in order to look competitive we will not have a fixed price of bitcoin so just average them and have a fair idea.

It actually depends on the market.  Every minute or seconds  a lot of people trade on the market that's why bitcoin's price isn't stable or not the same in every moment of bitcoin's currency.
Which market? Each exchange site has a different volume, depending on a users who use the exchange. Maybe that's what makes the price of bitcoin different from one exchange and the other. Whereas if you look at the coinmarketcap the amount of the price is accumulated from the various exchanges, or the average of all exchange cryptocurrency.

haven't read the replies, so sorry if someone has already explained this.

the major difference in BTC prices is due to some exchanges have BTC prices against FIAT USD while some other exchanges price it against USDT. and UDST is not an exact 1 Fiat USD. so if you exchange USDT to USD to BTC the price difference will be much less than how it looks to you.

but still almost everything on planet earth is priced differently on different places, but usually the cost of buying at place x to sell at place y is higher than x-y / y-x price, but there are still some chances of arbitrage.

when you travel to a country and try to exchange USD to that local currency, you will find slightly different exchange prices even on the same street.

I also think the more appropriate price is the price required for mine. The price at the exchange is just the people's own choice and can be any price at any time. Like the ICO's softcap. By not considering the ICO price, when coin is listed in any exchange, majority direct the price how they want.

You have to know that there will always be either small or big differences on the price of any exchanges because exchanges have their own trading volumes, so there's is really no exact price for Bitcoin, so you should only rely on the exchanges you are using to exchange your Bitcoin to fiat currency. About websites that shows live prices of cryptocurrencies (like what you stated above), there are also difference on the price because some might collecting data on some exchanges and some might not, so there will always be a difference on their live crypto prices because they all don't have the same data sources.

First, we must determine in relation to what to calculate the price of Bitcoin. The price can be determined in other currencies, gold, diamonds and probably in many other things.

the price for each website is different, nothing is accurate because indeed each bitcoin seller and buyer has a different number of offers and requests
this condition actually encourages someone to arbitrate
but basically is, the difference in BTC prices between platforms with each other is never more than 2%, even if there is more than 2%, chances are the transaction volume is certainly not balanced
so suppose the average BTC price when this thread you created is 3.7k USD

Currently we have BTC at $ 3,730 on cryptocompare (https://www.cryptocompare.com/)
And BTC at $3,674 on preev (http://preev.com/)

Which one is the most reliable? An average of the prices?
every day the price is always moving, making it a low price opportunity to buy. always monitor price movements so you know the lowest price. once again the price can be relied upon when the lowest price then waits until the price rises.
There was nothing as a real price for bitcoin. Its move everyday base on what investors holding on it to sell or buy it. When the rumors are bad spreading the internet about bitcoin so then bitcoin price will drop also. The power of price depend on who holding on it. weak hand tend to sell it fast.

The real price is the price you can sell your coins to. Bitcoin has good liquidity and if you don’t own a lot, you can easily sell your Bitcoins. That's why the real price is the market price.

Most reliable price on coinmarketcap also you can check on coinbase and google. All source are almost same price. Different wallet showing different price due to source API. Its depend on from where they are collecting price, I mean which exchange. You will not find same price on all exchange. There will be little bit different, its depend exchange volume. But I don't think so there will be much difference.  But if you want to sell bitcoin for your own currency or USD from local wallet then its depend on them how they are following price. All local wallet will not give you same price. Some times price volatility depend on buy pressure and sell pressure. So All exchange will not same price and its not possible. So don't think too much about it. Just follow which exchange you are using.

The price of Bitcoin depends on the exchanger where you are trading. Basically the price is not far difference from one exchanger to another. Coinmarketcap is the most reliable for knowing price of Bitcoin and altcoins. So it is the most reliable for you.

I think the most appropriate price we could tell is where the exchange has the most volume in it. In different exchange, the price of Bitcoin is being traded so the price is no the same.
Do you believe in the statistics that stock exchanges provide? Lol! These figures have nothing to do with reality. Bots trade among themselves and increase trading volumes. Only exchanges know the real statistics and they are not interested in sharing information with you. The main volumes of trade go past the exchange.

For pampas you need a lot of cuts, so as not to spend a lot of money.

Ideally, we collect all the cue balls, and sell them to ourselves, draw what we want the course, and then let in crowds of hamsters on the "rocket".

After we sell the whole crypt on the huya and exit. Let the hamsters go on flying

bitcoin is currently very unstable, even though bitcoin is down, but the price is never stable at one point, it also gives us an advantage, because bitcoin can rise suddenly
Indeed, the price of bitcoin is always unstable simply because of being volatile on its price. We do not know if bitcoin will rise soon but all of us are expecting for that moment. The price of bitcoin is always change and in different exchange you can see different price so I hard to know what is the real price of bitcoin.

The most accurate global average price are the combined average of the most exchanges. We have had several instances where local Bitcoin prices were much higher or lower on local exchanges in some countries, compare to other countries.

At one stage the demand was very high in Venezuela and people were paying premium prices for bitcoins at their local exchanges and the same thing happened in Zimbabwe.

Just take the average price of your local exchange prices to get a accurate average of what the best price would be in your country.

cmc for me is more reliable to see the current BTC prices, all prices vary in each market and that depends on the market volume, the price of btc in cmc always takes the average price in each available market

both of those numbers are reliable and correct but the difference is that they are showing a different thing and in their own context they are correct.
for example preev is showing the average price between 2 exchanges (Bitstamp and Kraken) so it is a correct "average" price between these two exchanges and it updates every couple of seconds. but for example if you want to know the price at Bitstamp then that value can be wrong because you are looking at it with a different context in mind. same goes with cryptocompare

All of them are real price. Think of it as two place where you can buy and sell something, sometimes they have different price due to different supply and demand. It will eventually reach an equilibrilum sooner or later. Some people will do arbritrage which can lead to price stabilization on both market. You can choose any exchange to buy/sell your Bitcoin, as long as it can give you benefits.

The answer always relies on which exchanges are having the most trades I guess? Since most of the money will go in and go out of there simultaneously.

But really, it won't be any different to other people who are trading since you can actually have gains despite the difference in prices of BTC.

The real price is whatever price you are willing to trade at. Everything else is just an estimate of what other people might trade for it.

But to answer your question, ... There is no "real" price. The prices you see listed are typically the prices of the most recent trades on various exchanges, though many prices are averages. If you want to know where a particular price comes from, you will need to ask the site showing the price.

Also if you look at coinmarketcap and coinlib, you will see different prices. In my opinion it would be better to follow the price of the exchange you use. Because you can see different prices as average and we do not know which one is right.

Actually, there's no right or wrong price.
It all depends on which exchange you are dealing with.
So basically, it relies on the demand and supply of that specific exchange.
It might go lower in a small unknown exchange but you don't know if you can get out that fast and safe.
I would say, better check the bitcoin price on the exchange where you convert it to your fiat money.

The price arent even far from each other. If you will look at exchanges you can also notice this difference that they dont have same price.

Any of them will do but I used to check it with preev and cmc, when you will convert it to fiat, the price varies and will depend to the exchange you will use.

I tend to use preev for my exchanges just wanted to hear how reliable it is

It all depends on how it weighs the exchanges and which ones it adds to the the average, we all know bitstamp is a hundred or so above usually.  So I am guessing it uses stamp and a few others and that skews things.

How many cryptocurrency experts is there, so many answers to your question are.
In my opinion, the real price should be counted by how much enegry on average we need to mine 1 Bitcoin.
However, this also depending on the energy price in each country - so we will need to know avarage price of electricity in the world.
