Happy to hear I'm not alone.

Where do you guys look for trustworthy reviews? As much as I like communities like Bitcointalk, the advice is often anecdotal. There's a good resource out there to get your bearings?

Anecdotal is better than dedicated in my opinion. Only shills or nutters will sign up specifically to review a service on an obscure website.

If I'm looking at a new service the first place I'll check is here. If it doesn't have any type of thread or a decent number of mentions here I'm unlikely to investigate it any further.

You never hear much from happy customers. You hear an awful lot from the unhappy ones. Some of them can rant for decades.

In terms of reviews that joint looks all over the place. It has hundreds of reviews for places I've never heard of. 339 reviews for somewhere named Bitxoxo and 1 for Gemini?

The only places I would look for customer experiences would be here, Twitter or Reddit. Anything else is going to be more suspect.

For the same reason as the users above, I also don't like the site as it implies how uncredible the reviews are, but you don't really search for reviews in one site, you have to widen your sources 'cause tbh anyone can fake a review in most sites, bittrust just allows you do it way way more easily.

It probably competitor or people that get bad service only once and he or they decided to buy review and leave them fake review, sometime it happen in business world, so not surprising. Bittrust must make review only by acceptance + showing proof if people use the site before leaving a reviews on there.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

I'm familiar with the site coz everytime I search of some reviews of any other crypto related services usually they appear in first page but never count them as legit reviews or considered as helpful.
Coz you can just make every new name, review then captcha and raise a propaganda against any service there or make a good reviews with a scam project since no one moderates it and it doesn't have any restrictions (ip, email, session, cookie, etc) when someone writes a review, which means that 1 person can write too many review (good or bad) of one service.

I'm not familiar with Bittrust.org, but 1.78 for Coinbase looks ridiculous. I think that sometimes we don't need to pay attention to some reviews where people are just screaming "scam!" without any explanation.
Probably you can find negative reviews about every exchange. And it's normal because none of exchanges are perfect. And offcourse, some of reviews are fake made by trolls competitors. Sometimes it's also fault of user that he got into trouble.
And another important thing - people are fast to write negative things when something goes wrong. Same like negative news in news media get most attention. But how many of you visit such review websites to post positive review about service. Also, people don't bother to update review after their issue has been resolved.

What's worse, there seems to be zero moderation or validation of the reviews, so God knows how much of it is bots, competitors smearing each other or padding their own scores. Case in point, I've never heard of any of the top rates exchanges.

Exactly, this is what I noticed when I visited the site just random names out there saying negative things about certain services. I can just write bad reviews on my competitor and destroy them, but it's bad business practice.

I'm all for people being able to vent their frustrations, but I almost made a purchase decision based on this, and judging from the traffic the site gets, I'm not alone. Am I the only one who's not cool with that?

Of course majority are not cool with this kind of review sites. No moderation, so you can't really trust these kind of online review sites, very questionable, to be honest.

According to Bittrust.org, it seems that almost every known exchange is a complete scam. I know Coinbase is far from perfect, but 1.78/5.00 with every other review capitalizing keywords such as "scam", "stole " and "lied"?
