Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending

It looks like the Bitcoin Charts / Markets link is broken on bitcoin.org. When clicked, I'm directed to http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/ and am pretty sure that I should be directed to http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Bitcoin+Charts++Markets

Turnabout is fair play.

This is definitely a move in the right direction.  There needs to be a clear distinction between the official face of the Bitcoin Project and this forum.

Damn, I was hoping the link would just be removed entirely.  At least the Google link doesn't seem to work.

I started a tread on this same issue at http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=29894.msg375788#msg375788 at 10:26am after this tread was already created at 7:34am because I didn't see this tread earlier even though I searched for one, albeit not hard enough, and will try to not make the same mistake twice because the last thing I want in life is to be chastised by this community that, as it now seems, is not worthy to be properly linked via bitcoin.org., for one must now jump through hoops to get to this forum and read discussions on how better to exchange Bitcoin without jumping through so many hoops like a circus poodle and, no, I'm not implying that this circus is a forum (I mean this forum is a circus) even though some posters don't possess basic writing skills, taking for an example, when to properly use a period (and, yes, commas, too) opposed to writing ad infinitum, not giving the reader enough time to breathe. (Breathe, now!)

I hope you enjoyed reading this post as I did crafting it.

This forum has become full of crap that is giving Bitcoin a very bad name to the point of almost becoming a legal hazard, it will hopefully be moved to a different domain name soon but the link change was the first step.

Yeah, I don't think making it a link to a google search is better than just removing the link...

well presumably this forum will be closed or at least be transferred to some other site
this is the right thing to do imo

It's probably too centralized.
There are many exchangers now, we need also many forums around the web.

It's not really a good idea. Anyway, this forum has monopoly for a long time.

Probably the developer thinks this forum is a cesspool filled with a bunch of anarchists who may be bad for PR. (BTW, I agree that it is becoming a cesspool)

On bitcoin.org, the link to the forum now links to a google search for bitcoin forum.

Although I understand the concept of widening the discussion, to more places. This is stupid.

First of, the label "Forum" doesn't describe the link. It's a google search. For non-technical people (you know, the ones we need to convince), this is quite confusing.

Secondly, it's really not what you are looking for. Googles sorting of pages are not relevant. Many are for blogposts or arbitrary threads.

Third, bad pr tends to surface on google. http://killercoke.org used to be the first hit on google for several years.

I applaud the initiative to diverse the discusison to various forums. But it should be done properly or not at all. Maybe some syndication of posts from good forums, a twitterfeed, selected blogposts etc.

regards
