I don't like to use the wallet from blockchain, according my experience web wallet should be practical, simple and secure. Sms verification I think is enough, login with our email address or mobile phone number is such an easy way instead of login with identifier that are difficult to remember.
For your information you can login with your alias instead of using identifier but i don't recommend you to enable this feature, look at this case https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/warning-about-blockchaininfo-wallet-aliases-1460080 though blockchain.info has Two-factor authentication (2FA) makes blockchain more safe than before.
Tips from me : you don't have to memorize your identifier just open your blockhain's email and then copy your identifier it's printed at the bottom of that email.
When you login to your wallet you must verify it before, they increase their security due to their site spoof in google sponsored results.

It seems like depends on your transaction method (transaction fee) so I suspect your transaction fee that you have confirmed.Actually most often the transactions processed within 10 min has been confirmed. There might have network issue another wrong purpose to get confirm any transactions otherwise all confirmed after a while.
It would really confirmed fast if the transaction fee that has been putted is above average or shall we say the highest amount on transaction fee but its doesn't guarantee anytime because just what happened on previous weeks on which unconfirmed transaction is long queuing and even those who paid high fees still experiencing delays on the confirmation of the transaction.

Why aren't blocks being updated on blockchain.info?
Why aren't transactions made from the site not getting confirmed?

about long time confirmation in transaction
you can check in sending fee, if you use sending fee is low so , confirmation transaction long time

There are some questions that utter because of log transactions, I personally encountered this kind of problem and it took me almost a day on waiting the transaction to come in my wallet then, but the support told me that I do not need to be worry because it is just delayed.

I don't think that something is wrong with blockchain generaly. These were probably just temporary problems, maybe they had some techical issues but as far as I see everything is normal. Sometimes confirmations take some longer time, once I've waited for 24 hours. Just be patient for a while.

maybe there weren't any new blocks to show! sometimes there is more than 10 minutes between blocks for that you should double check with another block explorer to make sure about it.

but also their service is known to be down from time to time, maybe because of massive number of requests or even possible DDoS attacks. they go down, or some times even if you look at the bottom of the page the number of connected nodes drops down even to zero which means they are disconnected from the network for some time.

This situation will be repeated time after time when you rely on third party to hold your bitcoins for you and to do transactions from their wallet. If you want full access of your coins, being sure you can use them whenever you need them, and be sure to not see a lag or some other bug from web wallets you have to move to desktop wallet.

This still impresses me, the high number of people using web wallets these days.

When OP write the post, the site wasn't up-to-date, in fact there was some block missing (and last block mined was 1 hour and half old). Now seems already updated with all blocks.

About unconfirmed txs the situation now seems solved (only 13k txs to be confirmed right now).
Yes few hours ago there was full lag on blockchain.info explorer even confirmed transaction is showing transaction not found etc error and balance on wallets were also not updated.

I think there was some problem with their explorer but this can happen, also better to use other alternative explorer services if one goes down.

I don't see any problem with blockchain and there are not many unconfirmed transactions in the loop (currently it's 18k). You should check the fee of the unconfirmed transactions as nowadays you need to add 100 satoshis per byte as transaction fee. This issue happened with me too but it's still normal now.

I also experienced that but it eventually confirmed after 5 hours I read from other users took them 10 hours or more to confirm, this is not only on blockchain I also experienced it on my other wallet, maybe because of the lower fees you need to increase the fee to shorten the confirmation..

Maybe their nodes/server are off line or in maintenance.

Probably for the same problem, you can send a ticket or just wait (temporary issue)

I use also https://blockexplorer.com/ to track the blockchain status, and I find really practically.
