I'm thinking about getting into hobby mining and I'm wondering what type of setups you guys have.
Just set a plan mate before you start your journey in mining, consider this;
- money for set up the bitcoin mining you want
- electricity rate in your area
- temperature in the area you put your mining equipments

If you think that you can make income considering those requirements and then go, but if you failed to earn profit in bitcoin you need to set alternative coin to mine which is much profitable to mine right now.

Only have 8 RX 480's 8gb
Application RX 480 for mining I did not like. They are too hot. RX 580 much better. They are much colder and so you save on electricity. you do not need to provide additional ventilation. My RX 480 with 75% fan power heat up to 60 degrees Celsius. RX 580 at 30% fan power are heated to 45 degrees Celsius.

Really nothing fancy.. just an old radeon 7990 and one R9 280x.. downvolted max so they draw pretty little power, still produces a few sols/s so its chugging away nicely Smiley

I bought 8 Canaan 741, 8 power supplies - some extension cords.  Issues to consider-  fronting the large power bill, heat dissipation and ventilation of the mine,  noise.  It's not very technical at all and there is plenty of guidance online from this and other forums that will give you step by steps for everything.

If you have ordered a miner that comes with a predefined method of connecting to the network the process can sometimes be quite difficult. For example the Antminer U3 63 GH can be quite tricky to get up and running as it requires you to download drivers and run CGMiner yourself – later versions of CGMiner have reduced the complexity of this process.

Dear,
I have no mining setup. i don't know about mining.
i want to know about mining.
Please anybody let me know about this mining.
Well if you want to know about mining, you can read a "lot" here at the forums, you can't expect someone to guide you from A to Z, if the answer you're seeking is not here on the forum, just open new thread, you'll get your answers.

I'm thinking about getting into hobby mining and I'm wondering what type of setups you guys have.

Well, there are only two manufacturers of Bitcoin miners, Bitmain and Avalon.  Not allot to choose from.

Is there are reason for this? Are these miners built specifically to mine Bitcoin, and if so how? How do you build a computer specifically to mine Bitcoin and not for any other applications? Also, I thought there were more companies doing this back in the day. What happened to them?

Probably monopoly, yes those miners are built for mining and there's a new released by bitmain that has limited stocks only.
