Bear season is the best time to buy Bitcoin, all you need to do is continuously accumulate as much as you can, because price can only go up from there, it's when DCA method is most profitable. Inasmuch as you have a source of income that takes care of your expenses, then there's nothing to worry about, because it's not advisable to sale during bear run, only to continue buying till bull run, then sale or keep hodling. So the next step if I'm experiencing a great bear run is to keep buying or pause till it's bull run, but try as much as possible not to sale.
Whenever you see bear season, show that the time to buy BTC is arrive and you will begin to see those that saved money for bear season to come will start buying from the market and hodl them in a secure wallet that will make them safe until bull season come before they can put them for sale.

If you have only one source of income, and you depend only on your BTC investment, it will be difficult for you to hodl your BTC for long because issues can occur in the bear season that will make you to sell all your BTC to solve the issue in the bear run.

It will be a good thing to hodl your BTC till bull season occur before you can sell to make profits, and you will not regret for selling your BTC at that moment because that is the season people use to make profits to establish themselves.

Op I'll like to add that, if you buy $100 worth of Bitcoin which is currently 0.0015BTC, and the price start dumping, in real sense it's only the worth of the Bitcoin in dollar or any currency you compare it to that reduces the value of the Bitcoin you bought remains the same. That is, you still have 0.0015BTC in your wallet but the value has reduced. It might dump as low as -50% which means your $100 worth of Bitcoin would be $50 but  your Bitcoin figure remains the same, it's only the value that changes.

Is that someone he doesn't know? I don't think so because based on what he has written in his post, he clearly understands how it works and that the value of the Bitcoins bought drops and not the amount of Bitcoins. Even an absolute newbie would understand this thing in my opinion.

Besides, the topic wasn't about this nor was the question asked by OP. He asked about what you would do in case the market goes down and you see your investment losing value and you see no sign of any bullish movements soon. A newbie without ample knowledge about the market would probably panic in such a situation and might sell at a loss. An experienced and seasoned investor or trader would make use of the opportunity and buy more if they have the funds for that.

Dips and corrections are a reason for fear in new investors while they are considered opportunities to gain more profit by old and experienced traders.

As a beginner, starting an investment with a smaller amount of money that he can afford to lose is the best option.
The best options will be for the big winnings and we should always stake on good odds. Don't afford to missed out golden opportunities of grabbing significant winnings in the system, it can be filled with profitable runs and we don't happen to give necessary attention to the projects that doesn't served purposes. We have beginner's luck, a beginner will always become fertile and be always doing what he or she thinks is right. Don't ever rush into investment because there's a whole lot of thing.

Live with peace and enjoy life!
Currently Bitcoin is expected to have a bull run and halving in coming time as we all know it.

Now if you were to make an investment of $100 as a beginner regardless of your country and as it stands Bitcoin is experiencing a bear market (an example) after you made 5% capital.

Initially you want to hold for a very long time but as a result of the bear market you loose your capital and half your investment yet the market is showing no sign for you to recover.
What's your next step as a first timer in Bitcoin /Altcoin trading?
I'd listen to the experience ones and you know what typically they're saying about such bear markets? It is not there to stay forever and the market will eventually get up and recover and that's why all you have to do is calm your heart and mind and it will recover soon. But if the altcoins you're holding aren't that important in the market, they're unlikely to recover so it varies with what you hold. There is no doubt and question with Bitcoin and that's why we always keep moving forward and takes the moment to accumulate more when we're in a bear market. Luckily, I've been through with it and that taught me lessons that I am bringing with me and that's why I am not to worried at all even if we get a sudden correction or we go straight to a bear this time.
Having a bear market that shows no signs of recovery is only at a newbie’s point of view. Because if you ask those who have been here for long, they will certainly answer the same thing, the bearish market is only here temporarily and soon we will see the market turns bullish after couple of months. And they’re right, the bear market is crucial so we can witness a bull run soon.

Now when ask about the best thing to do when your investments are trap in a bearish market, I’d say continue to DCA and hold your coins tight. Know that you will never lose if you won’t be tempted to sell at a lower price, so instead of panicking, make this bearish market another opportunity to accumulate more bitcoin or altcoins of your choice.

As a beginner, starting an investment with a smaller amount of money that he can afford to lose is the best option.
No I totally disagree with you that only for beginners is "Invest what you can afford" That only for beginners to be used "invest as much as you can afford". In fact, this is not the case. Invest what you can afford is for every person, whether he is a beginner or an expert, because everyone can lose. Bitcoin has a volatile nature and it can make everyone lose. If everyone invests all their money in Bitcoin and it gets dumped, it may become difficult for him tomorrow because he will need money and the money will have been invested in Bitcoin and he will not get anything until he eats, so it is likely that he should invest so much. As much as you can afford.
I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but the only people's who will voice their disagreements are those who didn't comprehend my point clearly. The primary reason I brought up biginners is that they are the ones who have just newly interested in investing and they're lack of full knowledge about how to enter and exit the market. For this reason, I suggested that investors should exercise caution when deciding how much money to start with. It is a good idea for everyone to invest the maximum amount of money they are willing to lose.

However, individuals who possess expertise in investment do not need to address them in the same manner that we can address the biginners that start investing newly. Because they have extensive investment knowledge and expertise, they understand how to watch market strategies and avoid them losses.

In my opinion, even if a bear market persists or deepens, I'll continue investing in Bitcoin. I've experienced the advantages firsthand and believe in its long-term potential. Bear markets offer opportunities to buy at lower prices, though there may be temporary losses. Ultimately, I remain confident in Bitcoin's resilience and growth prospects.

The bull run is approaching, and everyone is anticipating its arrival. However, some people, including those who are not prepared, are anticipating the bull run. Many individuals are anticipating a dip in Bitcoin to prepare for a potential bull run. Those who have already invested are hoping for a strong performance before the bull run begins.

If that should be the case, bear market tactics appear to have some effect from the moment a bitcoin is bought until it is held for an extended length of time. The next step is to continue being patient until you have made back all of the investment and amassed a sizable profit. Since it is the main focus of the bear market. Whatever happens at the end of the day, you should be patient while investing and intend to hold it for a long time.

So far I think I've gain a lot from the response you all have provided and to my understanding you just have to study both bear and bull markets before making an investment.

Thank you all for this and if I do have any question I would call on y'all.❤️❤️

You won't have such a problem if you know what you are doing because if you just invest the money you can afford to lose, the crypto market situations won't bother you and you don't really need to worry about others panicking and selling their bitcoins even at the lower price, you just simply chill out and wait for the price to recover and make another huge comeback again just like last time. You just continue with your life activities when the price is not going well and forget the crypto market for a while because looking at it almost every day will only make you depressed and sad.

People who already experience a bear market condition avoid to commit mistakes since they don't want those feeling to get trapped so usually what experience trader to is they speculate this event will come and make sure that they are monitoring the market so if this incident will start to happen they are prepared to dump all of their crypto on their wallets so that there's no other thing that can give them stress and start again when they see some end of the dip situation they are watching for.

But for experience people who's not bother on any of this events they are still holding since what they want is to invest with bitcoin for long term. They are not focusing on current price but rather they focus to accumulate whatever the market condition it is since they believe that there are more for bitcoins in future and they don't want short time profit for this asset.

Yes, it teaches you the absolutely right way of investing; that is, it tells you that you should not think of investing in something that can present a hurdle to your life. This is the best first rule for a newbie to get into the field of cryptocurrency. In investment, you should decide in advance that I can hold for so much time, ask Hometalab to apply his strategy under a specific order, and not sell it for as much time as you intend. Because it is called investment. In which you have to hold your assets in any way until you get the target of his aim.

So as a newbie I will always try to Hodl because Bitcoin is a single asset that does not lose its value even after a dip and follows a bullish pattern from a long term perspective. So I have the same opinion as the OP that only hodling can make up for your loss by hodling.

Well, the long term pattern is really obvious, but we should'nt take for granted that it will last forever (although this is not the best forum to share this unpopular opinion Tongue) and be aware that the future is uncertain and Bitcoin could lose value, maybe not in our hearts, but in the exchanges, due to market manipulation by really big actors, regulations around the world, etc.

Anyway, this is a much better approach than "gambling" all day with charts and esoteric candles, and losing not only money but also time, focus, and in extreme cases also health.

Firstly I have to agree with pooya87 that is 100% correct, so building on what he have said yiu will have to consider some certain things before investing in bitcoin and when this category of things have been well thought of you will not longer worry when things move the opposite way.

Perhaps when one wants to invest in bitcoin and/or altcoins one must first know the volatility of bitcoin hence be prepared to receive either profit or loss in the crypto space. For the situation you have at hand it's best to cut loses if only your interested in short term investment but if it's about long term investment then you could leave it there believing that bitcoin is good enough to return your profit after some time.

After losing half of your investment, the only left to do is just to keep on holding, if you can sell at that moment, then you are already at lose, so it doesn’t make any sense, and you should know that when you buy a coin, the only thing that reduces is the value of the coin, but the amount of the coin which you buy still remain the same, so you just have to overlook your investment. Also sometimes market do recover when we never expect, don’t be surprised that after selling bitcoin or the coin might bounce back. I know it’s not really easy seeing your money drop as a newbie, but you should have knowledge about things like that before you start investing in bitcoin or any coin.

A bear market will definitely occur after the bullish era. And this is sure, but only the exact time when this will happen is still a question mark. But we really need to prepare as well as possible so that we can also take advantage of all the opportunities that exist in bullish and bearish times.
Certainly, bullish er later, we have no eprofits. And use a certain percentage of profits to be saved in stable coins. So that when bearishness occurs later, we can use this amount to buy crypto again, to prepare for another long-term investment. Because once again, the choice of coin will really depend on the type of investment we have.

Personally, I would diversify the money I have. Certainly a minimum of 50% to invest in Bitcoin, at prices that are quite low during bearish times, usually the first year of bearishness. Then, use the rest to invest in altcoins, but only top altcoins. To reduce the risk, if the altcoins cannot survive on the market. Therefore, it's better to just go for top altcoins, although this also doesn't guarantee 100%.

For me, I will leave my cryptos for the next bull run. Because besides crypto, I have been holding some stable coins that would be fine to survive till the next bull run. Rather, I would accumulate more crypto during the bull market. No point to sell at loss anyway. Whenever I sell my holding, I regret it forever and am never able to buy it back. So I will not panic; I have a hardware wallet and will leave my bags there.

Everyone's stayed in this market for years and seeing that there's no sign of recovery by that time means that they're not too worried at all. When you've been here, you are aware that it will eventually recover no matter what happens because that's the normal mode of this market.

An experienced investor in the market who sees no sign of recovery might hold or buy to have more without anything to worry about.

But if that kind of thing worries you, that's only mean that you're still new on this market and you don't have trust on it so you better cut that loss or don't invest at all.

Drops are expected after bull season, sometimes it is even more than half of the current price. But remember, if you are buying only Bitcoin and keep holding it, you will never lose any amount. And have to tell you that investing in crypto needs some faith and trust, holding is necessary during the bear season but if you don't have these things, I'm very sure that you will think negatively and sell your coins at a losing price. That is why you should ask yourselves if you really have faith in doing this and trust the project you invested in. Otherwise, don't bother yourselves to buy and take risks because you only lose your money.

If you invested and the market is going dip, you will have to hodl, as long as you're investing on bitcoin, but the moment you make investment on other coin that are not reliable or reputable, you begin to fear in panic on not missing out, it is therefore very important that we make the adequate and necessary research on any coin before investing and if we will make the best decision, then such have to be that bitcoin is our first investment priority and if possible the only one, then if the market dips, all you need is to hold.

If you have already invested, then I don't see why the person will decide to sell during the bear market periods. Bear markets are meant for you to invest more, and with what has happened within a short period, people have made a profit, which is the purpose of investing. because imagine that after holding it for a very long time, you don't have anything to lose and still wait till you are making a profit, and if you can not wait, you can trade. You do not have to wait for long, just holding is much safer, so anyone can decide which one they want to do. Everyone has their plan and target of investment, but we all know that the bear is for you to buy more.

do not do what you don't have the mind for and that is going for other coins you might invest and be lucky but can be risky can you take that risk if you lose the money you won't blame anyone for what has happened, the risk is risky Grin if the plans go well you can become a millionaire in Crypto so is just for you to get your plans right if you get your plans right then lucky you and if it goes wrong then liquidation will be the result.

The word "Hold" is a difficult word and no one wants to see the market go bear again because it could be very disappointing for holders that their ultimate aim is to make profits and then seeing unplanned loses coming their way.
On investor want to see loses but it might come to us if we do not plan ahead of the market. We don't need to always expect to see bull and green candles everywhere. The market is going to be bullish which we all going to make money but we should also think twice that anything can happen along.

You don't lose money in Bitcoin unless you sold.
True and not true. Loss or profit is on the screen or paper in your calculation and it only becomes actual profit or loss if you sell your bitcoin to have cash.

The vital point is if a person used all money to invest in Bitcoin, no other source of money for emergency, he will have to sell his bitcoins when he takes profit proactively or has to sell it for emergency.

Bear market is inevitable in any of the market, if your focus is a long term holding and you were caught between the devils market crash, you continue to hold and buy more as the market continue to dip, buying that way is what is term as dollar cost average(DCA), you will reach a break even points where you wouldn't have profits and loss, you can chose to withdraw your investment in case you change your mind or you may hold as you intended from the beginning.
Before thinking of a bear market, buying more in dips, you must think of your financial status in a bear market and what you already prepare for it.

As said above, if you don't have any money reserve, you can not buy any dip but it will come to a time you have to sell your bitcoin even you only want to hold it. Because without cash to use, how will you live through a long lasting bear market?

The first step you take is the one you take before you make the investment in bitcoin or even in shitcoins. You should first decide WHY you are converting your fiat to bitcoin. Is it to reach financial sovereignty or is it quick profit? If it is profit, how do you want to make that profit: from trading or from investment?

These things decide what you should do in case price didn't move in the direction you wanted or the way you wanted.
For example if you decide you want profit but you want it long term and treat bitcoin as an investment, then you shouldn't worry about short term fluctuations, corrections and dips, etc. Just buy in a dip (like buying below $70k) and hold for at least a year.
But if your plan is to make profit but in short term and you want to be trading (accepting the risks that  comes with it) then every small dip and correction is an opportunity for you to make a move. For example it could be selling your coins above or close to $70k and re-buying it when the correction happened at something like $65k.

$100 is not a serious amount of money for a lot of people, and in such situation it's best to just forget about the investment and check it once per year or so.

Initially you want to hold for a very long time but as a result of the bear market you loose your capital and half your investment yet the market is showing no sign for you to recover.
What's your next step as a first timer in Bitcoin /Altcoin trading?

Bitcoin and altcoin trading are two very different things. Bitcoin has a high chance of recovering from every drop, and so far it recovered from all of its drops. Meanwhile most altcoins have one final bear run that finishes them off, or at least makes them premanently lose 99% of their value. So with alts it's best to cut your losses an d move on.

That is the more reason why experience is needed in every investment and we are being advised on a long term investment because that is where the greater profit awaits you, now as a long term hodler you have no business with the bear season because you already know that you will recover in bull run and since every halving, the current ATH always goes more than the previous one so in a case of a bear season all an investor need is to forget about the Bitcoin he already has in his portfolio and buy more after which he can still DCA till the next bull run though i prefer buying during bear season and selling to make some profits at bull season.
Seeing that the request by OP is about the next step to take as regards a newbie encountering the bear market, I must first iterate that there should be a need to know the distinction and how to know when the bear season comes.
Since prices go down by or increase by 20% or more from its current ATH  making it clear it's a bear or bull season, it would be wise to accumulate coins during the bear and sell during the bull season if the dream is to excel at trading.
For long term investment however, a good DCA strategy would be nice irrespective of bear or bull seasons, but buying at the moment when prices are low is the best way to save money still.

When Bitcoin experiences a price drop altcoins also experience bear market too. It would not be wise to buy an altcoins in a Bitcoin bear market. As a newbie, I'll hold my coins and worker harder to get more funds to in invest in Bitcoin weekly.
There was a time last year when Bitcoin was at $15k if you had compared it to now that the price has quadrupled, you would think that there wasn't any hope of recovery especially if you had allowed the news feed you fear. With Bitcoin there is also 100% possiblity of price increase. No matter how low it gets.
Yes, bitcoin provides a guarantee to their investor that they will recover their investment soon whenever they feel that lost their investment. As you said from last year prices increased by quadrupled so those people who stayed on the last movement are now happy and those people who are out of the journey experienced many losses.  There is a simple rule according to me in Bitcoin if you trust me I will never disappoint you  Grin but trust and belief are mandatory.  So if we face a situation like this then we will start a weekly investment until the price gets back and grab our investment with profits.

First, if you intend to hodl or keep it "for a very long time", then you aren't involved in Bitcoin trading. You are a hodler.

Second, forget about altcoins as they're not designed to be kept "for a very long time."

Third, hodling means not minding Bitcoin's short-term rise and fall. So, if you want to become a hodler, try not to react to hourly, daily, weekly, even monthly price fluctuations. A hodler doesn't mind much the bumpy road because he/she is in for the long ride. In the end, Bitcoin will rise.

What's your next step as a first timer in Bitcoin /Altcoin trading?

It would depend on how much knowledge and experience I have about the market and the industry as a whole. Suppose I had just come to know about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and rushed to make my first investment without trying to do any research or learn anything about Bitcoin and the overall market. In that case, I will probably panic and maybe sell my assets because I would think I'm losing my money when I see my portfolio losing so much value because I'm unaware of the bear and bull markets and the cyclical movement pattern of Bitcoin and the market.

On the contrary, if I'm a knowledgeable and self-aware newbie who has studied the market and did a lot of research about Bitcoin, it's history, and all other aspects that are essential, I will try to accumulate as much as I can because I would know I will be able to sell them all at a higher price in the near future.

Your thread was saying about bitcoin investment and I wanted to give my 1 cent not until I read bitcoin or altcoins trading. Actually someone who is in long term investment with $100 can just wait for bitcoin to appreciate and bounce back to profits, but this cannot be said about a day trader. And also for day trading, I think $100 is not big a capital.

I know newbies are always scared whenever bitcoin is dumping, whenever they are at loss, they do end up panicking and selling it, all what newbies want is immediately they enters the market, they should be in profits immediately, but they don’t know that things doesn’t work like that, sometimes you will be in profit, and sometimes you will be at loss, so when you are at loss, the best thing to do is just to hold your bitcoin patiently, with time it’s going to bounce back, you shouldn’t be in a rush to sell.

If am in your condition, and I already sold half of my investment, and bitcoin keeps on dumping, all what I will do is to reinvest the money which I sold the bitcoin, I know am getting the bitcoin at a cheap price, and I will hold till bitcoin bounces back.
If the market suddenly turns bearish, then why bother continue selling when you know you will only be at loss. Instead, just continue to hold your coins while waiting for its price to recover until you reach your goal price in the long run. For now, maximize your accumulation phase with bitcoin from your profits before. Having a bearish market is part of the crypto market so just be patient in order not to loss that huge.

It's good that you stated here the term "trading" because it would be a different case if you're just buying and holding.
If you're a trader, you must learn how to use the stop-loss feature.

It would be a different case if you're buying and holding because you still have an option to sell your Bitcoins at a loss, or you will hold it for a long time and as you hold, you will continue to accumulate even more Bitcoins because the perfect time to buy not only Bitcoins, but altcoins as well is during the bear market. Bear markets are very harsh especially if you're one of the many investors that will be buying Bitcoin at a higher price, and if you're a newbie, you might panic because you will see your portfolio being down more than 50%. You will see your capital being reduced to maybe around 70%-80% of your initial capital, but if you're into crypto for quite some time, you will not that market moves in cycles, and in ~3-4 years, the market will rise up again.

If you're a trader, use the stop-loss feature. If you're a long-term holder of Bitcoin, you have an option to make a stop-loss, or will continue holding it, and continue buying it as well.

My mistake my question rather was on INVESTMENT not TRADING sorry for the confusion.

Experienced traders will prefer to buy altcoins because the price is more volatile than Bitcoin which makes it easier to make a profit. Altcoins also experienced big pumps that could make one make more profit within a short period. But the risk involved in trading in altcoins is great because it can also experience a fast dump or drop in price which could culminate in losses.

When it comes to investment, Bitcoin is the surest and most reliable cryptocurrency. If you understand the Bitcoin market and are patient enough, you will never lose money investing in Bitcoin. $100 might be an insignificant sum to invest because you might not make so much profit even if the price triples but it is a good beginning. In Bitcoin, you invest what you have and why you can afford to live without it. So it the sum is what you have, I suggest you buy Bitcoin and keep it in a non-custodial wallet preferably Electrum. You might consider using a hardware wallet if you can increase your Bitcoin hodling over time.

There are two questions, one for Bitcoin and another one for Altcoin.

Your question is confusing too, trading and investing (holding) are different. If you are a trader, you must know you are not planning to hold and you must be disciplined to exit the market.

Holding is for investing, not for trading.

Bitcoin is a strongest cryptocurrency so after a bear market, it won't die and it will be a first cryptocurrency to recover from a market bottom.

Altcoins are not as strong as Bitcoin and they can die in a bear market. Even Bitcoin triggers a bull market, many altcoins can not recover to their past all time highs.

Risk with trading and investing in altcoins are bigger with trading and investing in Bitcoin.

What you should know is that 1btc= 1btc.
If you bought some units of bitcoin, and after your entry point, the price of bitcoin dips. It does not mean that the amount of bitcoin in your wallet has reduced, it is only the price that dropped. So if you are at loss based on what you think, don't worry but use it opportunity to buy more Bitcoin with discount and hodli, because the price must recover, and even pump higher than the amount that you bought it. This is why you don't need to use the money made for important needs to invest in bitcoin, but your spare cash, because when you hodli bitcoin for long, you will make profit. However, if you panic that the price has dump as you sell your bitcoin, you will run at lost. Don't buy bitcoin due to FOMO, and bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme.  This is because the price of bitcoin increases with time-line. I see every bear market as an opportunity for me to accumulate bitcoin. I am not a trader but a bitcoin hodler, if a need beginner bought bitcoin because he wants to go into trading, it is a wrong orientation because you must run at loss.

Thank you so much for this it gave me clarity on my thoughts in sense if I had 0.0005btc which worth $50 per say and after a bear it was $5 as long as it's in bitcoin I have nothing to worry about because it's temporary and will rise again. Just lovely

I will continue to invest because the bear market is temporary so even though it might feel like I've lost my earlier investment, I'll eventually recover it because with BTFC, it's all about HODLing, at least that's what I think is the right strategy. So if you do DCA over time, your risk and loss will be spread across your investments and you will end up profiting during the next or the next bull run or whenever you decide to take your gains.

We all have been into your shoes, and we are at once lose some of our future profits as well. But instead of regretting, I think this should serve as a reminder that experience will harness our knowledge and skills as well. Losses are inevitable in an investment, but if we don’t find smart ways on how to overcome it, you will keep losing even in your next investment.

My advice is never panic but keep hodling your coins patiently. Dumps are just temporary, eventually we will see another price increase later in the market.

As a first timer in cryptocurrency, if I have already invested on the market, then the next step should be learning.  Learn how the market moves, learn about the cycles, the schedule of bear and bull market.  And learn more about the potential of my holdings.

Being patient is the best thing and is best supplemented by the knowledge about the market of the cryptocurrency we are holding.  This way we are able to secure that our patience will not go to waste simply because we are not knowledgeable about our holdings market movement.

Another best thing is to know the timing when to buy, accumulate, hold and sell.  Knowing these stuff can enable us to have a high possibility of profit in our trade.  So knowing about the market movement of our cryptocurrency holdings is a must.  Being updated on our holdings market condition can enable us to cut losses if bad things happens or get the possible maximum profit if the market become bullish.  Btw, don't forget to set a realistic selling price.  This enable us to have a firm goal over our holdings.

Op bitcoin is not expecting a bull run but it is already in the bull run. And $100 investment as for me is too small. It as a beginner I will invest in it and hodle it then look for another way to invest more. Op if you are planning for long term investment then you didn't lose your capital in the bear market and the figure you got when the price high still there but you only lose either in dollar or in your country currency. Like example. If I have 0.003 bitcoin now, even if bitcoin goes down to $15k the 0.003 will still be there so all what you have to do is to continue hodling until bitcoin rise again to the new All Time High then you sell it.

And this is the risk involved in bitcoin investment. But if you are good with or having the basic knowledge of bitcoin then there is no big deal.

I'm confident that this bear market could catch us off guard, so I'm focusing on crafting a solid exit strategy now rather than waiting for it to arrive. It's crucial to capitalize on the profits during the bull market and allocate a portion towards preparing for the inevitable downturn. I believe there's still untapped potential in many altcoins, especially considering they haven't reached their all-time highs yet. With another halving on the horizon, followed by another bull run, there's an opportunity to secure profits and gradually transition into a more defensive position for the bear market ahead.

Bitcoin will not go into deep bearish forever so you have to look the brighter side instead. Patience is a virtue and in such investments where volatility is its nature, then you have to be more patient as your investment requires it. Don’t sell but rather invest more. You don’t have to fear if price decrease, that’s part of price fluctuations, but rather see it as an opportunity to invest more so you can gain massive profits when you decide to sell when the market is bullish.

Bitcoin can never get to zero, so there is nothing to fear. As a new investor, if you cannot encourage yourself to be patient because you are new to the market experience, try to reach out to other older investors, who have experienced similar situations before from the market on their investment. Their own experience when shared with you will encourage you to keep your bitcoins and not stop investing what you can afford to spare for the risk of investment.

I have come to understand that the bullish or bearish seasons is as a result of supply or demand. while the bearish season assures more coin in supply than demanded by investors, the bullish season is a time when the demand for the coin is higher than what is in supply.

For now so far this year we have been witness to more bullish trends than bearish. I suppose it is because of the ETF approval and the much hype about the halving that will happen sooner than later.

I would like to think that If I were a trader during a great bear market, the short- selling  position is the strategy I would employ.
This is done by speculating on the falling market prices. If my prediction clicks, then I have made a profit, else it's a loss should the price move against my speculation. More like predicting the outcome of a soccer event.

One thing I will say is before the bear market happens it is most certain that a bullish market will have precede it. I have set a target first at bull market period and if my profit target triggers I will be taking some profits and what I intend to do is to invest it into another business to help increase my income streams. After this I will surely have a place where more funds come in.

Then when the bearish period sets in there is only one logical thing to do and is to start accumulating more bitcoin. I will use the strategy that has stood for me and that’s DCA and invest my incomes into it until the next bull Period

As a newbie, the first step is to learn and comprehend the market; if you understand the market, you will be able to navigate it if you chose to trade Altcoins.
If you want to invest in Bitcoin, all you have to do is learn how to be patient and buy more during the bear market so that you can gain when the bull market returns. When you lose capital, you should not panic and sell; doing so will result in no gain. In circumstances like this, you simply have to be patient and purchase more utilizing the DCA approach.

When I encounter something like this in my investment, I will seek advice from professionals on what to do next, but because I am not a beginner, the best thing to do is to buy more (which is DCAing), as the strategy has proven to be very helpful and effective in achieving maximum accumulation while also generating enough profit when the market goes in your favour.

One thing you should know about bitcoin is that after every dump, a bull always follows. It may take a long time, but if you are patient, you will get what you want from your investment at the right time. Patient is key here, and if you instill that virtue in yourself, you will not have a problem with the bear market, but will instead see it as an opportunity to buy more bitcoin rather than panicking to sell.

Note that you will only lose if you decide to sell your coins, but if you continue to hold it until its price recovers and skyrocket, I think you will never end up losing. The best thing you can do is accumulate more coins while the market is bearish so you can maximize your bitcoin portfolio and only sell them when the market turns bullish. However, on part of altcoins, it’s risky to invest on them so always chose to invest in highly potential altcoins and only limit your investments with them as you can’t be sure if their value will certainly recover or stuck in there.

Nope that's a very bad idea. Yes Bitcoin most times influences the price of other crypto or altcoins in the market (they seems to be altered by the speculation of Bitcoins bull) but yet, not all the time will they rise again even when Bitcoins price had recovered from a recent bear. Asking someone to get altcoins when there a bear is like telling him to invest in a no future investment and there's no guarantee they will also recover. Bull or bear, the best investment is Bitcoin and it still stands. If you are a long term holder and a true believer of Bitcoin, the you won't have issues holding for longer periods of bear.
Bear season is even the best time to purchase Bitcoin as you are vet sure that it's price will recover after some periods of time. Don't be fooled by volatile movement of Bitcoins price or speculation of altcoins in then market.

It's bitcoin, it'll definitely go back up, so instead of selling at a loss, I'll leave my Bitcoin because I know it will rise again no matter how long it takes. I know it's easier said than done, but it's not the first time bitcoin has dipped after I made an investment and I've been with bitcoin long enough to know it always recovers.

If I had money at the time, money not set out for anything, I think I'd most likely buy Bitcoin at a cheaper price too. That's an opportunity for me to buy Bitcoin at a cheap price and an opportunity to make more profit when it pumps.
The dipping of bitcoin price is always an opportunity for someone, that person can as well be me since my investment is deprecating too.

By the way, I think this topic should be in Bitcoin discussion.

I don't know if I am the only one who is confused here. You talk about holding for a long time and now you mention trading again. For clarity sake, Holdling and trading are two separate and different things. As a first timer investor or trader, you must be panic surely but it's important for you to understand the nature of market and it how it works. From the time of investment you should prepare yourself for such cases at one point and how to remain steadfast in your investment. Your investment can only reduce in amount valued but not in quantity which means you are still on track whenever the market bounce back. If you are always looking for a sign to recover, you are not ready for long time investment. Long time investment is characterized by patience and endurance of whatever market situation until your target is reached. As for trading, stay far away from it as a first timer in this space.

Maybe converted into stablecoin first when you see the peek of a bull season. Then wait for the coins to settled again thats how my plan to do on next bear market.

When experiencing loss the idea is to keep accumulating more at every dip and never panic to sell, stay strong and keep HODLing because the drop in price is temporary.

Every first timer will definitely panic and would want to sell as they are experiencing loss but the best thing is to keep to your plan regardless of the loss experienced on the way, if your initial plan was to hold for a long time then I don’t think you have anything to worry about because bitcoin is a coin with so much potential and no matter how low the price goes it will definitely rise back up so I don’t think there is nothing to be scared about. During the bear market is the perfect time to acquire more bitcoin to prepare against the upcoming bull run so at times like that when you are experiencing a loss my advice for you is to keep accumulating more bitcoins and stick to your plan and hodl for as long as you can because after a bear market there will be a bull market where everyone recovers their losses.

We are now halfway through and the long-term price of Bitcoin is around $70,000. you need more time and learning about investing, or make your investment short-term so that you sell it in june-july next year.
It is not the ideal time to buy altcoin. Invest mainly in Bitcoin and leave a small percentage to invest in altcoin so that you trade instead of investing.

During BEAR MARKET, investments are limited to altcoins and long-term investments to Bitcoin.

Hold when you have invested in bitcoin and sell if you're holding on alts, if you're a trader, then you need to understand the market strategies of when to sell or buy and hold, because some bear can comes in as quick as possible and the market rises immediately while some may go more dip and remain on the bearish trend, irrespective of the kind of investment we are doing, we should always take the precaution measures on how we can afford to bear and withstand the market condition we are into.

I will still buy Bitcoin if a sudden bear market starts.

What many beginners fail to understand about Bitcoin is that you don't lose your money until you sell your Bitcoin for a loss.

Before investing, make sure you think about the money you want to use for investment, it's not the money you plan to use in a month, this is why it's called investment.

The best money for buying Bitcoin is the money from your salary, I mean some percentage of the money, thats why DCSA is the best strategy, nothing works best than buying a portion of Bitcoin every week or every month and keep doing this for a long period.

I will still invest in Bitcoin if the bear market comes again even if the bear market deepens. That won't stop me from investing my money into Bitcoin. I have felt the benefits of investing in Bitcoin.

When the market is bearish again, it is a great time to return to investing. The price will fall deeply and will probably stay there. It's okay if my capital and half of my investments suffer losses, but it's only temporary. There will come a time when the price will increase again.

This bear market is only temporary. Everything will improve again. We must be able to determine what we want to do. If you want to invest your money in Bitcoin, you must determine your steps.

What's your next step as a first timer in Bitcoin /Altcoin trading?
When Bitcoin experiences a price drop altcoins also experience bear market too. It would not be wise to buy an altcoins in a Bitcoin bear market. As a newbie, I'll hold my coins and worker harder to get more funds to in invest in Bitcoin weekly.
There was a time last year when Bitcoin was at $15k if you had compared it to now that the price has quadrupled, you would think that there wasn't any hope of recovery especially if you had allowed the news feed you fear. With Bitcoin there is also 100% possiblity of price increase. No matter how low it gets.
