I'm not a trader as such, but my worst decision was to leave bitcoins at an exchange (MtGox) instead of keeping them safely offline in "paper" wallets.

That cost me 50btc. Needless to say, I won't make that mistake again.
Same here. one of the first hard lessons learned. I lost 7.5BTC in different altcoins (ZEIT, CTM, MOON) that were left on coinex.pw for trading. The exchange was robbed by its owner (March 2014) and my coins were sold at Cryptsy. Lesson learned hard way and since then I never leave more than necessary on any exchange.

I don't play the markets, but it seems interesting. Any crazy stories out there?

Only thing close I have, when I got my first Bitcoin the price was $180 and had been holding steady for months. I needed some cash so I sold my Bitcoin for $180 and within 2 weeks the price of Bitcoin was over $1000. It was terrible.  Shocked
My worst decision i made so far in trading is i just bought 0.2 bitcoin of BAC COIN in c-cex and then i saw it in yobit that the BAC coin is in 5000 satoshi per bac coin and if im going to buy bac in c-cex for 200 satoshi then i can really make my 0.2 bitcoin into 1 bitcoin and then i tried to send my bac into yobit and it's really take long till my bac was deposited in 24 hours and the price in the yobit is 180satoshi -_-

In retrospect, you could have just waited for a few more days and you could have reaped a very high profit. But nobody knows what will happen with bitcoins back then. Those who both at 1000 have suffered a big loss too when the price plummeted back to 200. At lease you did not suffer a loss.

My worst trade decision happened last week. I invested on z coin as its rate was increasing very fast. But i didnt do follow up for last two days. Since Bitcoin price increased, the Altcoin which i invested fell by 26 percent. But now , i have shifted my investment to Bitcoin again.

For me the error is that. Until you haven't sold at a loss, you haven't lost ! I think that in the path of ZCash and once the price of Bitcoin will have been flatened, ZCoin's price will climb again.

I know that when the price of bitcoin increases, altcoin prices will fall. but I tried to buy altcoin because I think it is at the lowest prices, but after I bought and the price fall further later in the end I got stuck and when I did cut lose and then the price increase again. this really makes me crazy.

I wasn't around in time when bitcoin was still reaching its popular status. I joined the hype train after bitcoin reached ATH in 2013.
But since that time we had many price drops and I sold serious amount of my coins during price decline - for about ~$300 - compared to today's price it was a BIG mistake.

The worst decision I might trade is when I buy coins were dead. I had just learned to play trading, and was so excited, so I buy coins which I forget the name of 0.1 BTC, because when the price dropped to 70%, and I think that it will go up. and, well, the next day, the coin maintance and disappear

ancient people even buy a pizza with hundreds of bitcoin. if it is seen now, the act was the stupidest action. however it was the past, look at that in the future will continue to grow bitcoin than today. we will be part of the future.

the guy who did that has stated that he doesn't regret it. he's a better man than me.

It was the first ever bitcoin transaction and if it hadn't happened then maybe the future would've been different.

I've never sold or traded, only accumulated and spent. all the junk I bought when it was in the 200s will no doubt haunt me in the future but it was cool to do at the time.

He made the first tx that legitimized Bitcoin. Without that transaction, who knows if we would have grown so much by now. Most of the people here today would not even be here if that pizza was never bought and Bitcoin believed to have a value. I would argue that it was a benevolent investment that he probably profited heavily from (later) assuming he had (likely) many other coins than the 10k spent.

@OP and thread;
Never dwell on bad choices! It's those choices that shape who we become, and it will drive you crazy if you can't let it go.
I must've passed out hundreds of BTC in tips in 2011 and 12. No regrets since it wasn't worth much back then. I don't even care now. Especially as a trader, if you are worth more now than before, you win. It doesn't matter if you cut too early, you profited. Most traders will lose far more than they win. Be happy you didn't get too deep with loans or some stupid shit and now owe money for coins you lost or spent.

Similar to above I lost all my bitcoin (at the time)n holding it on Bitcoinica. Never trusted an exchange since

Luckily I only lost about a third of mine at the time. I've managed to more than replace them since, buying the most during the deep dips in January and August of 2015 and mining a few before that.

That raised the average price I paid from about $120 (CAD) to about $200 including the ones I bought this year.

No regrets though. Live and learn. Today my $200 bitcoins are worth $900 each and they're much more securely held.

As a wise man once said:

"Not making a decision, is a biiiig decision!"

I wish i bought some bitcoins when the price was 200$ each last summer.

Hell i even remember when it was 100$ in 2013 but i just met bitcoin at that time so i can forgive myself for that. But last summer? Damn.

I've bought 0,2BTC for 70$, and then lost it in altcoins to win five dollars more. If only I waited until now... Now I won't repeat that again !

all possible measures should be considered carefully. every trader must have had a less fortunate period. the most important thing to keep trying and always thought that someday we will be successful. it is the capital to become a real trader.

But all the trade will not be successful buddy. Always we can find the trusted people to have trade but still some of the people  scam when the indeed of them. So be aware and have escrow in your all trades.

I was holding VPN and sold it for 112 satoshi.  Then after two months the price swell to 1k satoshi lol, another one is NEM, sold it around 62 satoshi the next two weeks it goes up to 200+ satoshi then 2k satoshi.  Sometimes, when we thought that it will never go up and sell everything, those will be the time when the price start to pick up and go up really crazy.

By looking at my past trade moves, looks like there was no worst trade decision so far but rather missed opportunities or kinda didn't able to take ride of the trend that has been passed.

Mostly it happens at altcoin trades where I didn't able to cope up with the trend happens in a certain coin. I managed to get profit to that particular coins Im talking about but not with the supposed full extent of profits. Im not that greedy anyway and it's much better to take profits rather than to face loss.

I think my worst trade decision now is not investing into trading when the bitcoin price is still low, like $200/bitcoin because I'm a long term investment. For me, as long as I get a little profit from it then I'm good.

So far I don't consider all of my loss as worst trade decision since for a quick dump Im just securing the profits and those missed pumps are the regret one. Well that is part of trading life and everyone else does.

But who knows, someday that one of my regret will become my worst trade decision. So right now Im just doing everything to make my trading stats as it's best and properly maintained well.
