So at what price are you or have you been loading up on Bitcoin?

I don't have much money now, I'm planning on buying a ton of Bitcoin in late January when I get a bunch of money from the sale of the startup I work at (hoping price is still at least below $6k!!), but today I decided if this thing hits $3800 I'm picking up half a bitcoin, and if it drops significantly below that I'll try to pick up maybe as much as another half a bitcoin. For anyone with plenty of money on the side right now I hope you all are feasting on all this panic selling! This is how you get rich! Too bad I have $8k on exchanges that I bought up coins with a few months ago, I'd pick up 2 Bitcoin right now if I had that in fiat Sad
I am just like you, I am getting the bitcoin I can while the price is still so low, I am sure that once the market recovers and it is clear the prices we are seeing now will never happen again we will get a lot of people complaining that they wanted to buy bitcoin but they were scared and how much they wish to see those prices again, but people like that are the ones that see a huge opportunity to make money and it does not matter how attractive it is they will never take it.

So the best thing to do is the strategy you have chosen, even if you do not have all the money you would like to invest in the market you are taking advantage of the opportunity because we do not know how long the current prices will last.

I am planning to buy bitcoin when it reaches below $3000. The current price is not that stable and could break down of there will be a surprise big news that will impact the market negatively. If it sustain the price above $3500 for 3 to 4 weeks, that could be a go signal for me to buy before the bull run start. We may experiencing a pump this week but could be a false breakout or bull trap so we better observe before investing.
what underlies you to buy bitcoin under $ 3k? why are you so sure the price of bitcoin will drop below $ 3k? the price of bitcoin has been stable for a long time at a price of $ 3,500 and in my opinion it is unlikely that it will drop below $ 3k.
Actually Bitcoin has power and it all depends on our attitude, when we trust Bitcoin and the more we use Bitcoin it can make prices increase. For me we all have to keep trying to increase transactions using Bitcoin because it will have a positive impact. Cheap prices do provide an opportunity for us to be able to buy Bitcoin prices cheaply, but the increase in Bitcoin prices will be much better than anything.

I suggest that at the end of this year it's also better when you can buy it at a cheaper price, so you also still have plenty of opportunities to get profits in the future.

for me personally, now I prefer to buy rather than sell it, because I see the market price is falling, so I will get more profits in a better way to hold on in the coming months with higher rises.

People are talking without backing up their words, that we definitely have seen in the last months and even weeks. Literally nothing prevents the price from falling below the $3000 mark, but that's not even the main issue.

People stating that they will buy below $3000 will most likely NOT buy if it does happen to drop below that level, because they'll be waiting for $2500 to be reached in order to start "buying".

At $2500 they will wait for $2000, then $1500, and so forth. If you don't dollar cost average your entry points at current levels already, you're not a serious buyer, period. Those who are waiting won't pull the buying trigger.

I'll be thrilled to have money to spare because if I had that I'll have no doubt that I will invest everything in bitcoin unfortunately that is not the case and I'm probably missing one of the best opportunities that I could have to obtain bitcoin for a reasonable price, I'm hoping this is going to change soon but I do not know if the price will still be as low as it is right now.

Well who knows. You just might get your wish. Many think this isn't the end of this bear trend and we may very well continue until probably the start of 2019. You may even be able to buy at a lower price than now.
Though we do not know how much it going to dip, it is good to invest when you have funds while it is cheaper. If it dip more buy again because this will never end and going to recover again. See how it going to change in this incoming year, we cannot predict it but hoping that it become profitable.

I bought at lower price than now in past and also buy at 3200$ and i will hold for long time. Now in my opinion think is still a good time to buy bitcoin and hold, and for all who invest, invest only money that afford to lose because maybe they want a fast profit and maybe bitcoin will not grow as much as expect in short time.

Your plan is very good, hopefully your plan will succeed. If I have already bought some bitcoin around a month ago. But now the prices are down some, I plan to buy some bitcoin again when the price is below $ 3,500. But if don't touch it I won't buy and still hold some bitcoin that I bought one month ago. Hopefully this will work, and when the price goes up I will get a lot of profit.

I will still wait and enter the market at the right time as it seems that bitcoin may still be going down. Trading at this current time is very risky as the market keep going down and we don't know how low it can go at the moment as every thing are in the area of bear.

in general the investment strategy with crypto currency is by trade and the most common strategy for investors is to buy at a low price and sell when the price is high but in my opinion when it depends on the investor's own confidence

The investor's confidence is a really valuable part of right decisions being taken. People should make their own strategy and stick to it because, in this market, nobody can predict 100%, so it is better to listen to one's own mind and heart.
Personally, I think it is a great time to buy, allocate 50% of your capital now, and keep the rest for 2019 beginning. Also one can invest just right now with their whole capital. Both has its own risk associated.

when price goes above the 200 dma.
I will give up some gains to know we are in bull territory Wink I figure where the btc price is now and where many think it will go, by the time we hit bottom and consolidate the $6k 200dma now will probably be todays price.

That's a possibility, but it would require the market to get significantly more bearish than in 2014. We'd be trading long term below the 200-week MA which is unheard of in Bitcoin's history.

Waiting for a bull market is totally reasonable. That's what I advocate for most people because they can't psychologically handle bear markets. Shorting is a different story though. I love trading bear markets, but anyone still shorting the market at $3K needs to zoom out and recognize how dangerous it is. You're betting against the long term trend based on a short term trend.

Honestly I think we'll be in the $3000 - $6000 range for half a year or so. Could be wrong but that is what I'm thinking. I think there will be ample buying opportunity under $5000 during the winter and spring. Granted that recent drop was just cuz of the BCH craziness, but from listening to market sentiment plenty of people think it has more to drop. So I think we've got some time in the $3000s and $4000s the next few months. Even if you don't have funds for a few months I bet you'll be able to get in at a real low price. I'm buying some now just in case it settles a bit higher than this, but I expect I'll be buying under $5000 at least in Jan and Feb.
If that happens then that is a good development for me, while many are lamenting the low price we are seeing they are completely blinded to the opportunity right in front of them, they could easily buy two bitcoins for the same amount of money that just months ago could only buy them one, if they were smart they will understand that this is the perfect moment to hoard as much bitcoin as they could.

I am currently trying to save as much as I can to put more and more into bitcoin, anyone who is not doing the same must be a bit crazy.

I have bought a lot of ethereum but I realized I am too heavily invested into ethereum now and trying to balance that out with buying some bitcoin and December month will be really difficult because during December months we pay our taxes in my country and finish all the debts of 2018 before year ends up, nobody says anything about that because we know that December has always been the worst economical month for us and January becomes insanely better and we wall live a great life for another 3-4 months thanks to living a horrible December so I will have to cut back a bit for now but will purchase SO MUCH on 1st of January as well. The price is just soooo good that its impossible not to buy.

I'm also waiting on a fairly good chunk of cash around the end of January. I'll buy more then.

Hopefully I won't have to sell any until near the end of April. With any luck, the price will be up by then.
Good strategy bro, it is good for you because you bought bitcoin when the price dump because in this situation we can possible to see the bitcoin value will up once they have a lot of people investing again. Just hold your bitcoin that you bough even more years.

buy in the dip! isn't it obvious?

the dip has always been the best time to buy anything, including bitcoin. and now we are in mother of all dips so it is the best time to buy bitcoin.
additionally we have this old expert suggestion that you should always buy when others are selling or advising to sell and sell when others are buying and advising you to buy.
The current situation is really unbalanced so many peoples are panic to participate in crypto investment. But your suggestion is good to encouraging the panic sellers and we should not feed the crypto trading so who are all really believe the cryptocurrency they should buy at anycost.

My plan is to focus more on holding at the current price decline, I will be patient and wait for bitcoin recovery, and I think it will be lower risk.
Well, you are holding it since you believe that the price will start rising back eventually. Then why not invest keeping the same believe? A bit risky (for short term though), but still you will be maximizing your profit and will be helping the market too. Just invest up to your comfort level. The reward will be worth taking the risk.

I wish i had lots of spare money right now, i'd buy up everything and not just bitcoin. Lots of alts are on sale as well, anything below $4000 is really cheap! Coinbase has just released OTC trading so it might not be cheap for long

I had kept my money ready to dip in and I bought some bitcoins at 3300$, I knew bitcoins bottoming was all but done from here we would see a upwards rally. I feel we're seeing an influx of good news, and you'll should consider buying now before price increases. I am not an exchange fan so I'll recommend you consider not keeping your coins on the exchange, also I hope you have only bought popular alts as many of them will barely rise.

at $6k!
i know we are below it but that is the price where i was buying because everything pointed to it being the bottom and i still refuse to believe this drop is natural and not manipulation.
as for more buying, i would wait until the market calms down and it becomes clear that the manipulators have stopped manipulating the price and then i will restart buying bitcoin again.

my goals are long term so it doesn't matter that much for me at what price i buy.

Yeah agreed anyone who followed the current market situation would have thought $6k was the bottom, couldn't have foreseen the BCH chaos and split causing the whole market to go in bouts of extreme panic selling.

Well, things happen and sometimes can't be avoided. At this moment, value of the coins are considered to be low and I think this is the time to also buy. For those who are waiting for this opportunity, definitely they already been have an action and hodl it for a bit until there is a sudden increased of the price.

I do think that if you are investing in bitcoin for the long run, i.e. not looking to trade short term movements, but rather betting on bitcoin's adoption rate to continue to go up and its utility as an asset increases, then I honestly think that dollar cost averaging makes the most sense.

Because you're not going to be perfectly timing the bottom, and in a bear market like this it's impossible to tell where exactly the floor is and when the final rebound is coming.

Buying in regular intervals makes the most sense, instead of trying to predict the bottom. Even if prices drop, your entry price will be evened out essentially by your newly bought positions at lower prices, which is great if you are speculating in the long term. That's the primary strategy I'm going with at the moment.

I am really short on funds so I cannot really pick any bitcoin at the moment so it is likely I will miss the opportunity of buying bitcoin for a price below 5000, it is a shame but recently I had a lot of expenses and when you add that we are getting close to Christmas that does not help at all, the only hope I have is that bitcoin remains this low for at least one more month before I can afford to buy some of it.

Well, now that Bakkt has delayed launch, I would not be surprised to see us driving as low as $3000 downward, and from here I really am going to start stashing as much as I can. The thing about life is that opportunity comes in a different dimension and in most cases, it takes being smart to be able to realize these opportunities and be able to take advantage of them.

Market dropping in value is never a problem for those who know what they are doing in this market when it comes to having a long term goal; it is only a problem for those who do not have one.

oh wow i didn't even see that they delayed it. Only delayed like 5 weeks or so though.

I set an alert at $3800 as I said and that alert went off late last week and I picked up 0.4 Bitcoin right around and just under that price. I've got another $2k waiting to make its way through the archaic financial system (started using Robinhood for my new purchases, didn't realize they have low limits on how much you can instantly buy - so I have to wait 5 business days for the rest), so hopefully I'll get another $2k of Bitcoin at even lower prices this weekend. God I hope prices stay this low through the winter. If this goes under $3k I'm gonna have to buy more even before all my money comes in in Jan/Feb. Hoping I can pick up a total of 10 Bitcoin the next few months!
I believe that the best time to buy is this moment while still the market is at its deep for we know that all coin value price are dropping, so maybe now is the best time to invest its like the bitcoin is resetting and preparing to make a large leap again.

Hoping I can pick up a total of 10 Bitcoin the next few months!

at $6k!
i know we are below it but that is the price where i was buying because everything pointed to it being the bottom and i still refuse to believe this drop is natural and not manipulation.
as for more buying, i would wait until the market calms down and it becomes clear that the manipulators have stopped manipulating the price and then i will restart buying bitcoin again.

my goals are long term so it doesn't matter that much for me at what price i buy.

Yeah agreed anyone who followed the current market situation would have thought $6k was the bottom, couldn't have foreseen the BCH chaos and split causing the whole market to go in bouts of extreme panic selling.

I'm with most of you guys... I'm buying somewhere between $3,000 - $3,500
I strongly believe (and hope) it will never drop below $3,000
though I got a feeling it won't recover as fast as it drops
I suspect the price may stay low for at least the next three or six months Undecided

This time is the right time to buy though there is really no right time but  i suggest to buy more since IMO this could be the last price we could ever see. Unless you guys don't want to invest at this rate of the market then it is up to most of you.
The market is very volatile that you can't expect something would have happen in just a blink of an eye.

I think the sweet spot is somewhere around the $3000-$4000 area, but sweet spots often leave you waiting for that perfect entry point which never actually comes, and this is what will lead to $100,000+... FOMO from the millions of potential buyers that wait too much, then realize eternal bottom already occurred and we are going for ATH.

There is already blood on the streets, so you should be buying already dollar cost average for as low as it can possibly go.

If it goes retardedly low (say sub $1000) go all in bigly, but then again, that is what a lot of people hope for, which means it will not actually happen and bottom is somewhere higher.

i'm certainly not hoping for sub $1000.....going below the 2013 ATH seems pretty bearish.

the only major support levels i see on the chart are $3000 and $1800. it's been years since i've deposited fiat money into the market, but those levels look pretty tempting. i'm mulling over a deposit to coinbase.

Markets do the opposite of what people think it will be doing. 2 weeks ago people were largely bullish, and this is what we got. Now people are largely bearish, which might result in a counter bounce to the up side very soon.

with sentiment, i'd agree the pendulum is swinging back to bearish. but i don't see despair yet, not like i've seen at past major bottoms. we also didn't see a classic V bottom---still just hovering near the lows. maybe a dead cat bounce soon, but i doubt bears are done.

I'm in it for the long run. I even bought on a montly or biweekly basis when the price was hovering between $6000-$7000 for almost 10 or so months. This is the only way to buy yourself into a market that makes sense.

Most people are surfing on the sentiment of the market. In case the sentiment is up, they expect $10,000 to be broken within x number of months. Sentiment down means we'll see lower lows, potentially $3000 range.

Markets do the opposite of what people think it will be doing. 2 weeks ago people were largely bullish, and this is what we got. Now people are largely bearish, which might result in a counter bounce to the up side very soon.

I'm a HODLer and a price averager, and I spend £100 or so when there is a reasonable deal in the offing. I'm aware that I don't know enough to find the real bottom, so I have to average. I probably ought to push some more domain name sales, and accept Bitcoin.

That’d be a good idea Jet Cash, I’ve got a handful of bitcoin related domain’s too. 4 or 5 are pretty shitty but I think 2 of them are quite attractive.

my plans to buy bitcoin always means the same thing: I convert my extra fiat that I do not need into bitcoin. so the answer to "when" for me is whenever I have extra fiat to dump. and that is about at least once a month which is what I usually stick to unless there is a big discount week like this one in which case I try to speed up the process of buying bitcoin.
generally speaking I prefer to buy in the dips but it is not always possible to catch them since I am not a full time bitcoin trader.

I'll be picking up some bitcoin from here in increments all the way down to whatever value we settle on. I think within 6 months or less we'll be back above $6000 so it's going to be a very sound investment if I'm correct. Sadly with the upcoming festivities etc I won't have as much spare as I would like.

Good luck with your plan. I decided to buy during $5,500 not a whole and its only with my extra money but still, I'm trying to wait if this is the bottom or yet.

Is it only me that has that feeling, when I feel the dip has been reached - I buy. And you know what? There's more dip for that dip.  Undecided

I had being buying on all the dip and not so bad though I am on down side of my portfolio but as my rate is now average out so not that bad. This way once the price rise I would end up in a profit soon and would not have to wait for longer to get my price or profits booked due to average out strategy.

It will never be so bad in the long run when the market recovers, because one way or the other, what you are doing is pretty much a good thing anyone who is going long on the market would really be doing.

As long as there is nothing absolutely wrong with the market and it is not dead, there is a great possibility of bitcoin rising more than this later on and a lot of people who are busy getting scared today would wish they are taking advantage of the opportunity now. It has happened before and the funniest part is that this scenario will happen again on the way up to the moon.

Unexpected Drops it has been in a daily basis the value is dropping, A lot of big investors are looking to buy coins in a very cheap price this is what it is turning out to be now. If the value Increases, they will make a huge profit. I think big whales are working on plan B as they are manipulating the price and dropping the value. Guys try buying more coins this time as the value is very cheap, think like a boss.

I bought some bitcoin at 6.000 and at the end of the month will get some more money and will buy at whatever price it’s then. Hopefully I can get to buy at 2.000-3.000 price range and get a full bitcoin (probably diversify with some other major altcoins too) Otherwise I will buy as much as I can get at the start of December. I will hodl till gets around 30k-50k.

No particular plans to buy. If I was inclined to do so I'd consider it sub 3 grand but I'd be cost averaging, not buying in one lump. That price level would probably equal plenty of time in the doldrums. I doubt there'd be much of a hurry to rise.

sub 4k is the signal for me (well specifically more like 3800 cuz if it breaks 4k i'm sure there will be another round of panic selling so i've got alerts set at 3800. Basically I'll buy half a bitcoin if i see that alert go off and its still around there. Then I'll buy another bitcoin is there is another round of panic selling to like low 3000s.
Then in late jan/feb i'll be buying $50k of bitcoin over a few weeks probably.

I hate catching knives. I'm only willing to do it deep into a crash, at a price level where I see a confluence of bullish factors.

Therefore, I'm looking at staggering buys in the $2,900-$3,200 area. $3K was a major level during last year's bubble and the 200-week MA is in the $3,100s. There's also a nice volume gap right in the same zone.

If we get there, it's a buy. If not, I'll wait for obvious signs of reversal.

Hey man I have $8k that I bought in BTC/LTC/ETH/BCH back when bitcoin was up in the 8000s. Wish I had that money to buy in now! ;p

I'll have plenty of money early next year though so who knows maybe the market will still be as low as $4k then!

Honestly Im not really into setting a price target before buying. Im more of analyzing the current trend and some of the possibilities that might happened along the way and "following my own desire". Since it's obviously that no one knows what will be next thing that will happened in bitcoin, we should consider to spend time analyzing the situation so that it can act as reference whether to buy or to dump.

To OP, it's nice that you already have a setup plan. Hope that you will be able to execute that according to your strategy. Goodluck.
