Thanks for the link, but "never" is the wrong answer...
There is no plan for 1.0 and there is no definition of what will be 1.0 and given that there is no plan for it, it is very likely that 1.0 will never happen or it will be a long time.

I agree.  Satoshi argued for leaving beta in 2010 (as above).

Will it happen at some point?  I'm sure.  When, who knows since in reality it doesn't really matter.

Bitcoin has been in "beta testing" for nearly 8 years now... when is it going to officially be version 1.0 instead of this 0.12, etc?

Does anyone know what the holdup is?  Transaction Malleability?
Never. This has been discussed before, Google it.

For 1.0, I would expect:

libbitcoinconsensus: an API that makes implementing a full node practical.

Bitcoin Core GUI: reasonably usable safely by non-technical people.

Bitcoin Core Daemon: a reasonably safe wallet (currently blocked by backup-
resistant accounting system)

This is why: http://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2015-October/011323.html and some of the following messages also explain some more.

Also look at:

Is it about time we lose the Beta?  I would make this release version 1.3.

I just always assumed that we'd switch to version 1.0 after the last new piece of a bitcoin was "mined".
