As far as I know, the rank upgrade is not related only to time and number of posts. It also depends on the quality of the posts, which makes the math.. not that obvious.

But I don't actually know how it's done now, but I guess that it involves some human check.

What ? That's impossible if you ask me , how they will check thousands & thousands of users lol besides I don't remember having a dely on time for my upgrade
I never heard of that my self , I'm pretty sure that's all it's all about math here , just reach the Activity needed and boom , here you are on the new Rank . nothing else

I hope someone can confirm tho

I did some more research. My statement is correct only for Legendary ("somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity"). For the "normal" ranks I was wrong and you were right.

But for Legendary, it is completely random. In current activity system, quallity of the posts aren't checked but practically they are![1].

You're right. The quality of the posts is irrelevant. You could make one one-word reply and you'd still get the activity points for that period (assuming that one post doesn't get deleted as it is of risk of being).

Correct . Speaking about that (one-word reply) ... wouldn't be nice if the developpers of the new forum software add something to disallow people from posting less then 20 characters ? I guess it will prevent "Spam" a little bit , just a little.

IMHO it won't decrease spams. We might see more questions/complaints telling "I should be Jr. Member today according to the message shown on my profile but I am still newbie!!! Huh", "This forum is buggy. >.< Angry " etc... etc...

LOL ! haha ,
That's why it should be made by exact calculations so it gives the exact time including days, hours & minutes & second

Hi,

I just got this idea , I know it's nothing big but I guess it won't hurt anyone if the developpers of the new forum make a page on our profile or UserCP or whatever .
Says when is the next Rank upgrade for the user (Newbie , Jr.Member , Full Member , Senior/Hero & Legendary members )

"on  2days 12 hours you will become Hero Member"

All what the user worry about I guess is the Rank and almost of the time he forget to calculate when was the last time his activity got changed (At least it happens to me) .
Sometimes I simply forget which Tuesday my Activity got changed etc

Anyway , I know it's nothing big like I said above , just trying to think in some useful things

this should help the devs I guess => https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/til-activity-does-not-work-on-precisely-2-week-intervals-interval-timings-582736
