Lately while investing during ICO's I have noticed that the bonuses/discounts are not that favorable. Waiting at the Exchanges during the first couple of days could prove to be more lucrative as there are always people that might have invested too heavily and have to sell of their stacks, "jumpers" that goes from ICO to ICO and dump it all on the release day, or people that invested when BTC was at $800 and at the end of the ICO BTC is at $1500 so they take the overall profit and are happy with it.

I think the last 3-4 ICO's I've been interested in there's always been the same pattern like the one above.

Question is not where they bought it but when they bought it. Sia was around 40 satoshi only a month ago. But was over 100 satoshi more then a year ago when Sia was a thing. Everyone was talking about Sia on Poloniex back then. So I hope you got my message. Buy when price is low.
When I get spare Bitcoins I check prices of coins that are legit and have long term potential and buy the one I think is at that moment most undervalued.

True, because if you are referring to the trading site Poloniex; I also bought Siacoin around 63 satoshi exactly two months ago. When it was still undervalued. But actually the price now is still low compared to other coins, it's just that probably the people you heard bought it when you haven't started trading altcoins yet.

Question is not where they bought it but when they bought it. Sia was around 40 satoshi only a month ago. But was over 100 satoshi more then a year ago when Sia was a thing. Everyone was talking about Sia on Poloniex back then. So I hope you got my message. Buy when price is low.

theorectically the best time is in the bear market. but it's always a good time to buy when you feel the market is going up. for now it is a little risky, maybe you should wait a few days to judge the trend.

I guess it is at the start of the campaign. They will do that for promotion purposes. Coins will be more at the said rate and gradually it will go on increasing because more people will be interested in it afterwards. Also, they have to do the fund raising so the last days would be fund raiser for them and they will increase the cost of the coins. Dye to this people who want to buy lots of coins will pay accordingly.

Never buy any coin during ICO or crowdsale. The devs always keep the price higher and most likely you will not get any profit when the coin is listed in the market. So it is better to take wait and watch strategy. If you like any coin, then wait till it reaches the exchanges. Once it is listed, keep a constant look at its price for at least few days.

Make average of those many day's price and wait for the average price to come. Also keep a track of the trading activities. If you see a lot of trading happening, then go ahead and buy it in market price. If you don't see much activity, then reconsider your decision to invest in that coin.

One of the way is buying bitcoin at crowdsale or during ICO, if you want to get information on new ICO then visit announcement(altcoin). there you see many new project that will soon be seeing on exchangers platform. The second face of a new coin is also important, that is what happened after crowdsale! You always see a coin's price double the first three days, it was listed on exchangers platform especially on poloniex. The best time to me is to buy altcoins the first week is being listed at poloniex or other big exchangers as you can buy into a project as crowdsale and it will not being list and loss your investment.

Problem is the market right now is becoming unstable and we do not know what is the real dip. Bitcoin is going to launch SegWit soon and alts went down hard. Now bitcoin drops but all alts still dropping. I think we will experience this until bitcoin's segwit is finished.

It's better to read some news as of now since we saw rhe corection in the price of inflated altcoins and bitcoin as it volatiles. However, it's better to buy now where in it's cheap due to volitality but it may dump again, no one knows. Trade at your own risk.

If you are planning to buy alt coins then I guess buying at the time of ICO or panic selling is the best period to grab good quantity at lower levels. However, you have to be extremely careful while choosing the ICO to pick as most of the ICOs end up with a loss or as a scam. In some cases you might get multi fold returns but the risk associated with it is also very high as compared to that of other options.

Cheap is really a subjective thing, on ETH someone admits 0.05 is cheap to buy and even 0.07 is cheap as well so it just depend with your own financial and how much you could buy with your money. Invest in ICO on early stages for bonus might a good idea to get more coins.

Buying at crowdsale s much better because as when a coin start their crowdsale then it has a fixed price and in that time period you will notice that how is that coin going as you will have interest in that and after launching at exchange you will then look at the movement of the price these both things will help you in taking the action of holding or sell at right time.

Good time is during their Crowdsale. How it's done? Refer to their instructions. If you are planning to continue play with that coin after it was placed on exchange then wait for big dump after the big pump and take note of that low and analyze the trend if it will regained it's ATH.

You know I can't actually say it's a best time since that is the challenge here in altcoin trading. If we knows when is the best then we are a perfect trader but it's not. Just keep focus on every risk you will take so that you can earn good in the long run doing altcoin trades.

I would say the first couple of hours that it hits the exchange. Time and time again that I've seen or been involved with an ICO it always trades below ICO price in the first hours. This may not be the case for every single project out there but that's just how I've seen it. I usually buy in early to get any bonus or discounts as I don't have the stomach to think it'll drop once it goes live..

- Buy on early days or hours of ICO because they used to have huge bonus for early birds.
- Not immediately after launch, wait for few hours till weak hands sell out there holdings. But you may not see this in successful projects.
- When those ICO pays out bounty reward, at this time most of those bounty hunters dump their reward so you get best price to buy them.
