The uptrend will trend when the bitcoin price stabilizes at an uniminaginable high price. Until then everything is percieved as up or downs but in reality years from now it will be clear Bitcoin only appreciated yearly.

I think March will be all about figuring out whether the price can test $300 and sustainably squeeze past

I agree, with this guy.

The last 2 times we breached $300, we rapidly crashed back down (within 24 Hrs). I hope this time is different and we sustainably stay in the $350 range.
As a trader - I am being cautious at the moment to see if any concrete volume/news occurs to promote this drive. So far, nothing yet - therefore it's possible for the price to crash again like the last 2 times.

I'm not sure I would call the second price movement after the recent $300 breach as a "crash"

We shot up over $300, and retraced back down to $290 before resuming back up quickly to that mid-$290 range.  It looked much different from the early January run-up to $300, and then huge retrace, although even in that instance we ended up higher than when the run-up started.

The action this past week seems just like healthy positive movement, pushing upwards, some selling and then settling in before the next movement.

As for looking for positive news, there's been plenty in the past week that has come out to suggest much higher values for BTC are likely in the future - and is probably undervalued at the moment.

Your right according to Bitfinex metrics - I was going off Stamp & e   : )

There has been a decent amount of positive media the past month and resultant steady increase in price. However, I was just pointing out that I haven't heard anything that would convincingly put us in the $350-$400 zone just yet.

Longer-term, I agree with you - BTC's value could be several orders of magnitude higher  Cool

i really think we might see a decent rise this year maybe to around $500
slowly leaving negative sentiment behind and let the bulls make new highs.
500 will be reached by mid summer IMO, we might maintain it through xmas or see another huge price surge by the end of the year.

Yes it is possible , I personally think the rally is not over yet, there could be a breakout past $300 in the near future and then much higher prices to come.

Look at any all time logarithmic graph and you'll see how the final answer is: Never.
All so called "downtrends" will just be seen as market noise in a couple years.

I think we'll keep having a slow uptrend until 2016. Maybe Q2 2016 will be the beginning of a new bear market.
Don't think so, as there are many events that may stimulate the movement to the upside that planned or close to Q2 of 2016: block halving, start of Gemini (most probably then) to name the most important. It will be difficult, though not impossible, to start the new bear then.

When will it endHuh Well, it could end if we bounce off of $350, but I don't see that happening now. We're pretty strong and yet sustainably growing currently and good news are also coming in. Stabilizing at $450 could be a possibility in my opinion!

What do you think is the cause?

When will this uptrend end?

Probably when the bubble pops, which I think will be late this year.

There's a pattern I think in this.

Just market sentiment at present
I would presume that we hit around the 300 range then either have a breakout or just standby here while support is tested.

Strange to be in a (emerging) bull market again, huh? Well, why should it end? The TA indicators have turned green, the momentum is *up*... People consider it more likely to make more money betting on a rising BTC price, than on a declining one. It's how markets work.

Nice explanation, that's exactly how it works. Those who are uncertain now, like our OP, will probably get impatient later on and buy into the trend to fuel the rising price.
It will end when the majority ends up with a lot of BTC and little fiat and new cash stops flowing in.

No one knows exactly when the uptrend will end, but I think these bears will try for a scare dump to 275 like last time and then we rocketship to 320 when they only get it down to 280. Full disclosure I'm all in just waiting for the rocket Smiley

Imagine if it went up so fast that all the bears were incinerated in the rocket flames... Cheesy

I don't think we are in the up trend already, meaning we are not yet out of the woods. According to the chart from the thread I cited, there is still room in the north of here that would not mean breaking the down trend. Up to $350 would still fit under the descending line. Having said all that, I also agree that many technical indicators are developing very positive, e.g., positive cross in MACD. That means we are most probably in the process of the trend reversing, which usually takes some time and looks boring on the charts.

I think the cause is increased usage, coinbase being a regulated exchange and the ETF, if anything the rise has been far less than I expected.
I think the uptrend will continue up to $500 or so, it will be a slow rise though, no $100 rise days like in the last bubble.

Honestly, the market isn't that ready to see a $500 price range. Slow rise, yes, but a more realistic speculation is somewhere around $300. Maybe $500 is asking for a bit too much in the current times.

According to the analysis presented there: there is still room for the upwards move till $360, without breaking noticeably the down trend.
we should stop somewhere between here and $350 and continue sidewards.

I'm thinking Coinbase is having a lot to do with it.   The US hasn't really had anyway to purchase BTC directly with a reputable company.  Many, including myself, wouldn't even think about wiring large amounts of USD to an anonymous exchange somewhere across the pond.   Sure some did IE.. mostly the ones that got Gox'd.

I think it will advance to around $325-$350 level before it will slowly go down again.

Can't really see it going higher than $400 level this year. Of course I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I think.

Even if that happens, I just hope we are able to stay at that amount with a strong support instead of falling. Because if a fall happens at that point, we might quickly go below 300 again, that is if we rise above to that level

I don't really see an end soon enough. Like others said its just the beginning right now, and we will almost certainly reach 300 soon enough.
Beyond that it would be hard to comment on, but I would only expect to go up after that

Uptrend ending? It's just the beginning. Right now at current price it's probably some market correction before the climb will again resume beyond the 300 level. I was a bit sceptical yesterday when i saw the price staying constant at 280 and didn't expect it to turnaround so quickly but once the market reopens for trading there were strong buying orders coming in.

this engine has a bit more steam left in it. so i predict it is going to rise above $300 this week and remain there for some time. and after that it might suffer a small fallback but overall it is going to go up.

It's hard to predict, but I believe this year would be year of the Bitcoin, We suffered a lot in 2014, it seems Bitcoin will be recovered in 2015.  The downtrend is basically ended, now I would assume Bitcoin will never stop rising until it reaches $500.

Look at the past of bitcoin this move is nothing, we can go 20 times up from here its possible.  You have to remember once the whales accumulate what they need they are looking to push the price very high n order to dump.  Pushing up to $500 or something isnt high enough for some.

Cause: Higher prices result in more people buying. They get hyped. Everyone claims they will buy more when they see lower prices but in practice they don't. Instead they get fearful. So they only buy on price increases.

When this rally will end: Unknown. We have been in overbought territory for a while now. Like always some people will get burned.

Where do you think resistance will settle? $400? $500? or will it drop like before?

$400 or $500 might be asking for a bit too much. I don't see that happening any time in the near future.

$300 is probably a more realistic estimate.

We are just getting started:
"$400 or $500" is the range when people start asking how soon we get to $800 to $1,000.  Smiley

by the way, yes, does some one know cause of what price goes up now? New black market, or some new ways to buy smth with bitcoins? Last months i heard a lot of news about how new and new companies start to accepting bitcoins, but the price was still unstable, and now it grows slowly but without stops. So, any ideas why?
