Just make sure you have the private key of your wallet should be enough. Don't worry, you can sell your altcoins now for cheap price, get your segwit2x altcoin, sell it asap and buy again your altcoins on a higher price.

you only have to search on the mined blocks of the blockchain, it can happen in 5 days from now, or maybe on november 11th, nobody knows the exactly date of this new fork, because it is based on the time that a block is taking to bitcoin miners.
The same happened with the last fork, it was supposed to be on october 25th, and it happened on october the 23rd at 6:00pm forum time, so it was almost 36 hours before, but i dont know, maybe this fork is very risky for the whole community, well, this is what i think.

Yes, there will be a chainsplit and you will be able to get the same amount in B2X based on how much BTC you have. It can be years from now (as long as you control the private keys).

Well, yes and no.

But this fork is something total different to BCC/BCH, BTG or ETC.

Segwit2x will be the new leader by block voting and if you see it technical in the right way there is no B2X ever.
BTC just will get an update to Segwit2x.

Normal way we should call the old (real BTC) coin BTCold (or whatever).
This time the splitting group has more power.

There are a couple of BIG companies, pools, exchanges who dont call it B2X.
Its BTC and old BTC with 1MB is for them like never existant.

This fork will cause some new interesting behavior!
I hope that B2X, well BTC with Segwit2x will fail in any point, but it looks not like this.

See the list of companies who support Segwit2x:
Abra|BitClub Network|Bitcoin.com|BitFury|BitGo|Bitmain|BitPay Blockchain|Bloq|BTCC|Circle|Ledger|RSK Labs|Xapo

- Bitpay as leading payment for shops/carts.
- Bitmain and BitFury as chip developer for Asics
- Leading pools (almost 80% hashrate is on Segwit2x site, BAD!!!)

All other pools (20%) and exchanges (60%!!! the option to stop it!!!) will say:
No! BTC is BTC with 1MB and the new coin is B2X with Segwit2x.

GET OUT YOUR COINS FROM WALLETS AND EXCHANGES IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A VOICE WITH COINS ONLY.

I feel with them and as believer of BTC and Satoshi Nakamoto I would say: Its 1MB what is original BTC.
Anyways. If the cashflow on Bitpay or other sites will be from now on "new BTC" -> currencies - the people cannot buy with the original old BTC. Because it will need the new BTC.

Technial:
BTC will be the coin with Segwit2x. BTC will be updated to it and not forked. Therefor a new name like B2X is wrong.
Old BTC is disappearing on most exchanges, pools and almost from any shopping cart checkout in the world!
If the people want to stay with the old Blockchain from old BTC this coin needs a new name, because this coin is the fork one. (BTC1 for ex.)
Like ETH/ETC. It was forked with a new update (because of hack etc.) and ETH with update had still the name ETH.
ETC keept the old blockchain and dont want the update.
Not how a fork happens decides which is the fork and original coin - VOTING ONLY.
And with voting, for now, BTC is the Update to Segwit2x.

From the aspect of the MAIN IDEA --- I hate Segwit2x overtaking the name BTC, because its an asian scam pack!

Those 20% within the BTC network who dont want the update - the old real core and the believer of an independend system - wont accept it.
I feel at the end BTC will be the name for the Segwit2x and we have to find a new name for the old 1MB BTC. That is logical and fair.
But --- I hope it wont get real. Chinese controll... yeah!

Its the biggest competition for Bitcoin since release.
Believers, spread the word. Dont use the pools who support Segwit2x.
Dont use the exchanges who support it, they will steal your old BTC anyways!

There are some exchanges like Bleutrade who always giving the folk-coins 10:9 to the user (10% fee is fair for not having the wallet and keypair action) and it does not matter if they call it BTC and B2X - or BTC and 1BTC (or whatever) - you have controll over both coins in both blockchains.

At the end, if you drive your coins on an own wallet and you just copy the blockchain in two folders ... it does not matter who calls what how.
You just have to know, if you have BTC with Segwit2x and you want to transfer it to Bitpay-Wallet, they will call it BTC and if you transfer it to Kraken they will call it B2X (yeah, nice chaos)
And if you are mining you have to know that almost all pools will run Segwit2x.
Or you have to use Slush (8% of all hashrate in the world), Kano (0,3% of all hashrate) or some smaller other ones (others 3% in the world).
Mining on Antpool Segwit2x coin and they will call it BTC, not B2X.

etc.
etc.
etc.

And THIS IS 100% new. NO FOLK EVER HAD THIS Cheesy

Its like you would split the internet on the world in SOUTH and NORTH earth and both would have a bitcointalk site, but with different owner and content.

YOU COULD STOP IT. SPREAD THE WORD!

TELL IT TO EVERYBODY AND INFORM YOURSELF.
DONT USE ANY EXCHANGE, POOL OR WHATEVER SITE WHO WILL CALL SEGWIT2X COIN BTC.
BUT MOST IMPORTANT IS TO DONT USE EXCHANGES AND SELLING OPTIONS, BECAUSE ASICS AND POOLS ARE DOMINATING.

Maybe --- but only maybe its not too late. 7-12 days (well, depends on how fast blocks are found)

Yes. I am a believer and as believer of Satoshi Nakamoto --- I am still one if I dont accept that BTC from now on has Segwit2x? No. Even if I dont like the result, its the voting result. Will be a sad day for crypto and the start of controlling, what should be not controllable!

And there is an option I can not overview for now.
If 80% are now going the Segwit2x way the remaining 20% in the old coin are now 100% of voting power for the 1MB chain.
Maybe then, after the scam pack is not blocking a normal update way, bitcoin can then get a new good update from core dev team. An update which is blocked since month!
But anyways ... scary days ...

Private key is all you need to claim your share of the fork or any other future forks that can occur. You can transfer your bitcoins into a different address after the said date and after block 494784 but you'd still receive your S2X coins if you still control your address fully. There's no such rule in claiming your coins from forks but most of the time if the development team of the fork releases their own wallet, that is when the time you know that you'd be able to claim and spend the coins from the fork.

Hello,

So as we know Segwit2x hardfork will occur in November 13th.
My question is does that mean that I will get 1:1 the same amount of BTC's I have before Block 494,784 in B2X?
Also do I have to claim them in some kinda of periodic time or it can be years from now?

Thanks.
